Google turned me down, don't know why...
-
Hello,
I'm experiencing decreasing on some of my keywords. I'm aware of some things which could be responsible for it. So I'd like to asi you, if my thoughts are right, and what to do with it.
1. I put backlinks leading onto my website. Those backlinks are on website I also own (they are on the same server). But nothing happened. Than I put other backlikns on this webiste. Those links also led to webistes I own. So could Google "punnished" those websites I'm linking to?
2. I offered my content to another website, which has a higher authority. This content had been published on my website weeks ago, I put it on this (another site). Co could Google punnished me for "duplicate" content?
3. In the past, we outsorced our SEO, and the company which was responsible for our SEO put backlinks leading to our website almost everywhere, I mean, those websites, they put links leading to our webistes fos focused on almost everything but our field (finance). But everything seemed to be fine, till now
4. Couple of days ago, I put our RSS on many RSS agregators and put our webiste on many catalogs.
My website URL is www.penizenavic.cz
Could you help me out?
Thanks a lot
Petr

Thank you for your answer.

Lots of people make this complaint....
.... but they are only looking at one factor.. Google uses different calculations. Google considers the optimization of your page, the optimization of your links and the amount of trust that google gives to each of your links.
To win you need to impress google.

Thank you for your answer. The thing is, my website appears below those with lower Seomozrank.. My website (or particular URL) has more links, higher autority, but is still beaten by those with lower rank.

Hey Petr,
1. The links from a site on the same server won't do much for you.
2. If you want to get a back link from another site, it would be better to write something original for them and do this for many related sites.
The last two practices don't really work any more.
You should try to combine social with video and embedding. Get social buttons on your site. Make a Facebook page, slowly share your pages on digg, delicious, twitter, reddit, and StumbleUpon.
Shoot some quick videos using screen capture (CamStudio is free) and OpenOffice presentations. I can't read your language, but it looks like mortgages? Quick 1 minute videos about tips and basics is always very easy and effective.
Embed those vids in a relevant post.
You really need to be stand out from your competitors and search is losing its market share. Target the traffic across multiple types of media and social sites and expand your horizons!
SEO is an ongoing, constant process that you need to constantly work at. You'll get there.
Best of luck!

Hard to tell... Maybe those links were worthless.... maybe google can tell you are giving links to yourself.... maybe you misspelt the URLs?
2. I offered my content to another website, which has a higher authority. This content had been published on my website weeks ago, I put it on this (another site). Co could Google punnished me for "duplicate" content?
Google does not punish for this. If you give your content to a more powerful website you should expect them to rank above you and possibly cause your site to be filtered for duplicate content. It's not punishment. Strong sites always win.
3. Nobody enjoys having these types of links placed on their blog or their forum. It's best to learn the methods that a company will use to promote your site before they embarrass you or get you in trouble. Most likely these links had nothing to do with your ranking problems.
4. Couple of days ago, I put our RSS on many RSS agregators and put our webiste on many catalogs.
This can cause a problem. Those aggregator sites can start outranking you.
Here's what I would do if I were you.
A) Invest in yourself. Learn more about SEO. Read all of the SEOmoz beginner's guide and as many blog posts as you can.
B) Before you make any big SEO moves describe them here in Q&A. Usually smart people will read your post and tell you if you are making a mistake.

There is a high possibility that your competition might be ranking higher due to higher quality links which were just picked up by googles algo. I would create a excel spreadsheet and list your top competitors (for your top keyword) and look at the seomoz metrics + number of links from unique domains. I would also review their back links, you might be able to duplicate.
In regards to penalizing websites, I really have not experienced that and over the last several years I have done everything from outsourcing to "thank you sir" team over in India to mass directory submissions. This stuff either did not work or worked temporarily.

Hacked Websites (Doorways) Ranking First Page of Google
Hello Moz community! I could really use your help with some suggestions here with some recent changes I've noticed in the Google serps for terms I've been currently working on. Currently one of the projects I am working on is for an online pharmacy and noticed that the SERPs are being now taken up by hacked websites which look like doorways to 301 redirect to an online pharmacy the hacker wants the traffic to go to. Seems like they may be wordpress sites that are hacked and have unrelated content on their websites compared to online pharmacies. We've submitted these issues as spam to Google and within chrome as well but haven't heard back. When searching terms like "Canadian Pharmacy Viagra" and other similar terms we see this issue. Any other recommendations on how we can fix this issue? Thanks for your time and attached is a screenshot of the results we are seeing for one of our searches. 1Orus

Spam signals from old company site are hurting new company site, but we can't undo the redirect.
My client was forced to change its domain name last year (long story). We were largely able to regain our organic rankings via 301-redirects. Recently, the rankings for the new domain have begun to plummet. Nothing specific took place that could have caused any ranking declines on the new site. However, when we analyze links to the OLD site, we are seeing a lot of link spam being built to that old domain over recent weeks and months. We have no idea where these are coming from but they appear to be negatively impacting our new site. We cannot dismantle the redirects as the old site has hundreds, if not thousands, of quality links pointing to it, and many customers are accustomed to going to that home page. So those redirects need to stay in place. We have already disavowed all the spam we have found on the old Search Console. We are continuing to do so as we find new spam links. But what are we supposed to do about this spam negatively impacting our new site? FYI we have not received any messages in the search console.

On the use of Disavow tool / Have I done it correctly, or what's wrong with my perception?
On a site I used GSA search engine ranker. Now, I got good links out of it. But, also got 4900 links from one domain. And, I thought according to ahrefs. One link from the one domain is equal to 4900 links from one domain. So, I downloaded links those 4900 and added 4899 links to disavow tool. To disavow, to keep my site stable at rankings and safe from any future penalty. Is that a correct way to try disavow tool? The site rankings are as it is.

Is there a problem with google?
I have one or two competitors (in the UK) in my field who buy expired 1 - 8 year old domains on random subjects (SEO, travel, health you name it) and they are in the printing business and they stick 1 - 2 articles (unrelated to what was on there before) on these and that's it. I think they stick with PA and DA above 30 and most have 10 – 100 links so well used expired domains, hosted in the USA and most have different Ip’s although they now have that many (over 70% of their backlink profile) that some have the same ip. On further investigation none of the blogs have any contact details but it does look like they have been a little smart here and added content to the about us (similar to I use to run xxx but now do xxx) also they have one or two tabs with content on (article length) that is on the same subject they use to do and the titles are all the same content. So basically they are finding expired 1 – 10 year old domains that have only been expired (from what I can see) 6 months max and putting 1 – 2 articles on the home page in relation with print (maybe adding a third on the subject the blog use to cover), add 1 – 3 articles via tabs at the top on subjects the sites use to cover, registering the details via xbybssgcf@whoisprivacyprotect.com and that’s it. They have been ranking via this method for the last couple of years (through all the Google updates). Does Google not have any way to combat link networks other than the stupid stuff such as public link networks, it just seems that if you know what you are doing you get away, if your big enough you get away with it but the middle of the ground (mum and pop sites) get F*** over with spam pointing to there site that no spammer would dream of doing anyway?

Or can i use the same profile without the risk of losing ranking on the weakest url, as they all compete for similiar keywords Thanks

Google messages & penalties
I just read the following comment in a response to someone else's question. The Responer is an SEOMoz Authority whose opinion I respect and have learned from (not sure if it's cool to mention names in a question) and it spurred my curiosity: "...Generally you will receive a warning from Google before your site is penalized, unless you are talking about just specific keywords." This is something I have been wondering about in relation to my own sudden ranking drop for 2 specific keywords as I did not receive any warnings or notices. I have been proceeding as if I had over used these keywords on my Home page due to an initial lesser drop, but identifying the cause for the huge drop still seems useful for a number of reasons. Can anyone explain this further?

Help required as difficulty removing Google algorithmic penalty
I am not an SEO expert but I am trying to recover my company's ranking on Google. We are a UK based baby shower company. Been established since 2003. We have used SEO companies a few years ago. On September 28th 2012 our rankings in Google dropped significantly on certain landing pages, others like our baby shower gifts page has remained position 1 for UK Google searches . Bing and Yahoo were unaffected. Searches for baby shower and baby shower decorations has gone from position 1 or 2 (behind wikipedia ) to these 2 landing pages being unranked in Google. I have for the first time ever gone through our back links, tried to locate bad or low quality links, emailed where possible, and set up in webmaster tools a dissavow file ( currently not acted upon by Google). I have also amended the text in the baby shower department so it does not read as keyword stuffed. It has been two and a half months now and sales has dropped significantly and me and the staff are getting very concerned. Our site is www.showermybaby.co.uk . We have not received a manual penalty. Any suggestions or help in removing this Google penalty would be greatly appreciated.

Google Penguin w/ Meta Keywords
It's getting really hard filtering through the Penguin articles flying around right now so excuse me if this has been addressed: I know that Google no longer uses the meta keywords as indicators (VERY old news). But I'm just wondering if they are starting to look at them as a bigger spam indicator since Penguin is looking at over-optimization. If yes, has anyone read good article indicating so? The reason I ask is because I have two websites, one is authoritative and the other… not so much. Recently my authoritative website has taken a dip in rankings, a significant dip. The non-authoritative one has increased in rankings… by a lot. Now, the authoritative website pages that use meta-keywords seem to be the ones that are having issues… so it really has me wondering. Both websites compete with each other and are fairly similar in their offerings. I should also mention that the meta-keywords were implemented a long time ago… before I took over the account. Also important to note, I never purchase links and never practice any spammy techniques. I am as white hat as it gets which has me really puzzled as to why one site dropped drastically.
