Effectiveness of Landing Page Goal
-
Let's say you have a landing page that aims to get people to click on an affiliate offer.
Now to measure the effectiveness of that landing page in Google Analytics, We would bring up the page stats, like the image attached.
Would I be right in assuming the people clicking on my affiliate link (and leaving my site) would be included in the "% Exit" stat. Of course this figure also includes those that either close their browsers, or typed something in the address bar.
... And the "Bounce Rate" are those that clicked on the Back button on their browser.
Is that right?

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the great answer. You've explained it very well
Cheers!

If they clicked on the affiliate link on the landing page that takes them to a different site, that would be considered a bounce. If they did anything else to leave the site: Closed browser, hit back, typed in a different site, they would be a bounce. If they went to that landing page and never left and fell asleep, they would time out and that would be a bounce as well. A bounce is a single page view of the site without visiting another page.
An exit is when a visitor leaves the site for another site and will be defined by which page they left on. So, they hit landing page, looked at two others, and left from page 3. They would have exited at page 3.
Hope it helps. (Yes, for affiliate marketing it makes bounce rate a bit of a pain. You will know who tracked to the affiliate though and be able to differentiate the "true" bounce from the apparent.)

What's the best way to go about making Duplicate Content Pages on my domain for affiliates?
Hello, I would like to make a bunch of duplicate pages of my site's Home Page, that way affiliates of mine can have a page of their own with links specialized to themselves littered throughout the page. What's the best practice going about this without jeopardizing domain authority from tons of duplicate content signals firing off?

Affiliate links and parameters creating duplicate page titles
Hi, we have an affiliate system and use rel=**canonical **to canonicalise them to the right link. Still, we see those links creating duplicate page titles, in Moz crawl and in Google search console. How are we supposed to treat those links so they do not create duplicate content? Thanks for your help!

Tips to Get People to Share User Reviews Pages?
I'd like to know if you have some ideas / advice on how to get people to share or link to user reviews pages? I mean unlike blog posts, it's more difficult to promote this kind of content. Here's an example: http://www.webhostinghero.com/reviews/inmotion-hosting/ I mean I just can't post links to the review pages on social networks, forums, whatever, that would be just plain spammy.

Thoughts on how to make this page better
I wrote a post that's doing really well in search and want to take it up a notch. It's about ipad cases for kids. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I can step the page up a bit. Maybe add sub headings for the various iPads? Something else? When I wrote this post the new batch of ipad's weren't out so I'm thinking I should add subheadings for the various ipads. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Affiliate code in urls? affiliate link landing pages?
Is it considered a good or bad practice to have the affiliate code present in your affiliate link url's ? (as opposed to disguising them with something like phpbay) Does the general public not scour the hover-over url's of links they click? Also, is there any way of keeping customers on site when they click affiliate links? (via frames or something more modern) Or is that frowned upon by advertisers?

How do the engines look at pages populated using content from an affiliate site?
We are building out a section of our site using an affiliate partnership in the travel space. How would you suggest organizing the content so we do not get penalized for duplicate content? Do you suggest not suing the content at all?

What are your biggest focuses for Internet Marketing in 2012? New Year's Goal?
We have seen a lot of shifting and movement in the search engines as of late. So I am curious as to what people are setting their sights on for 2012. And perhaps a top 3 would be appreciated. This is Internet Marketing goals, therefore SEO, Social Media, PPC, all count. Link Building? Schema.org? Facebook optimization? And try to be a little more specific like URL rewrites instead of just On-Site SEO.
