Anyone heard of this conference or the folks running it? Is it any good?

I'm thinking about hitting up my boss for a ticket:
-
Hi everyone. Here are some responses wrt the one day SEO Training event at the NTEN conference in San Francisco.
@Keri, thanks for the comments (and I will tell Taylor that invoking his name creates authority and not the other way around!) @lavellester, good point, I will get in touch with the NTEN people today and see if we can get instructors names on the NTC/NTEN page (Christina Keffer, who is our senior manager of SEO, will be doing the teaching.) Certainly, we can get it on the page that is on our own site @Alan, this is not being done by the internal NTEN people, but in fact, being run by my company, LunaMetrics, and it is an "adjunct day" to the main conference (although the more I read your question, the more I think you meant that......)
Hope that helps.
Robbin Steif, LunaMetrics

Keri
Thanks for this. Good info.

LunaMetrics is a respected company. I worked for a non-profit in the San Francisco Bay Area that received some consulting from them, and saw them give a couple of hours of training in Pittsburgh when I attended a non-profit conference there. I've actually linked to their blog often in the Q&A section. They just worked with Raven Tools (Taylor Pratt used to work for LunaMetrics) to put together the GA configuration site that was released yesterday.

It appears fairly basic and like lavellester, I have not heard of it either. Given that it is basic, if you are new to SEO I would first check out the beginners guide to SEO on SEOmoz
Then look at the topics of the conference, after you read the beginner's guide, see what you know. Then look up each of the headings for the conference and see what is on here in the way of recent posts, White Board Friday's, etc., you may find you can save a trip and the boss $200. (Tell him/her how you did it and maybe get a lunch out of it!)
BTW, I looked at their main site. They have very good on page, good PA/DA, linking, rel=canon, etc. So, they likely know a bit about SEO. If you still need to get outta the office.
Good Luck

This isn't a conference. It's their own internal company staff offering basic training. It IS taking place at an actual conference, but it's their own session.

Maybe ask for a more detailed agenda
One good thing about non-profit is its easy to get people on-board. For example when doing outreach it helps take the edge of things as its for a good cause and generally people are more than happy to help and be seen to be helping a good cause. I think there is lots of potential here. Same goes for the social marketing aspects.
specifics depends on the actual organisation you are promoting.

Good point. The fact that they're not listing any speakers could be a bit sketchy. Would like to learn some strategies for non-profit SEO though.
