Google adsense what is the best way to display the ads
-
Hi. I am using google adsense and trying to find the best way to have them on my pages but being knew i am not sure the best way to lay them out.
I am playing around with the pages and would love to see some good examples of adsense pages that work.
If anyone can give me advice on the following page and let me know what is wrong or right with this page to help me understand where i am going wrong, then that would be great. I am trying to sort it out so each page is set out the same.

hi keith, i have changed this page here http://www.cheapflightsgatwick.com/news/leeds-airport/leeds-airport-celebrity-cheap-flights-airline-new-route
i have moved a google adsense to the left of the content and it looks better but not put any on the top bar because after reading what was suggested on here. i found that people are complaining about having adsense at the top of the page.
do the links count as part of the three ads allowed on the page or is this seperate and also would it be worthwhile having a google search on my site

Testing is definitely the key here. You need to find out what's going to work best for your site and your visitors. Take advice, and make the best first guess you can but don't be afraid to test other ideas. It can be revealing!
Keep an eye on other factors too - you don't want to damage visitor engagement by making the ads too intrusive etc...

Show the MPU (square) unit on the left side of the content, not the right. Just have one unit, not the double-decker. Remove the left sidebar unit. Pace sitelinks in the sidebar or top navigation. Have a wider unit at the bottom of the content page. Split test 4 different colour palettes to see what works best.
That's a good starting point.
It's all about experimentation and testing for results. There's no real golden answer - you have to find it out for yourself by seeing what works for your site.
Good luck.
(I'm a former Google AdSense employee).

thanks for this

I have no experience in adsense, but wanted to let you know that just today Google announced it is looking at pages with too many ads above the fold. Read this for more information, and keep it in mind as you plan out where your ads are.

Best Practices: Mobile & Desktop Ad Design for Adwords?
Is it possible to have Google Adwords display different page versions according to whether an advertisement will be displayed on a mobile or desktop device? We are a commercial real estate brokerage based in New York City. Most converting website use desktop rather than mobile. We are considering advertising on Google Adwords. Is it possible to have Google serve a more elaborate form of desktop landing page but have Google serve a stripped down version to mobile users? The stripped down version would be created using Instapage. From a technical perspective how would we create a more elaborate desktop version and have Google distinguish between the two? In our experience, mobile converts much less. How much less should we bid for keywords displaying on mobile? Thanks!

What are the best practices for server-side A/B testing?
When performing a full-site server-side A/B test, what best practices should you follow to ensure that you're: not cloaking or at least not being shady only showing Google (and other search engines) the version you want them to see (i.e. not the test pages) Thanks in advance!

Any possibility to track goal completions/conversions at a sub-page (non-landing page) level in Google Analytics?
We’re promoting our sub-page it's http://www.flightcentre.ca/flights/london on our homepage under the slideshow so I need to see how many people went to the homepage, then went to this page, and then converted (enquired or booked.) What I can’t see is how many people did that. I know how to look up how many people landed on that page and then converted, but I need to know how many people navigated there and then converted. Is that possible? I can only see Goal Completions if I look at that page as a landing page, but that only presents a very slim view of the total visits when compared to those pages generally. Any way to check the entire behavior or activities happening through this page i.e. /flights/london?

Any tips and tricks to increase Conversion Rates on Google PLA?
I have recently organized my Adwords (Product Listing Ads) campaign according to this link: http://certifiedknowledge.org/blog/how-to-create-a-state-of-the-art-pla-campaign While I like the organization and control this provides, my fundamental concern is to increase conversions. I understand conversions are dependent on other factors such as landing pages etc. Are there any Google Adwords tips someone has had success with to increase CTR and increase conversion rates? Pating $10/day to Google Adwords while only getting a sporadic business every 3 days is getting a bit frustrating. Are there any tools in MOZ that can help find faults and generate simple reports on the Google Adwords campaign? Any help is much appreciated.

How Do I Create a Google Analytics Dashboard for My Designer To Monitor Landing Page A/B Testing
Hello All, We recently started doing some "AdWords Experiments" using A/B testing of our search landing pages. My web design team does not have access to our AdWords account, but they do have "user" access to our Google Analytics account. What I need to figure out how to do is setup an easy dashboard (or custom report) that will show them at a quick glance how the two versions of their page are performing in terms of: Goal Completions (Conversions) where the specific page is the entrance/landing page. Bounce Rate Time spent on site where the specific page is the entrance/landing page. Pages viewed where the specific page is the entrance/landing page. Possibly a way to see the most popular page visited 'next' after starting on the specific entrance/landing page Anything else that might be useful The two URLs would be like: http://www.domain.com/search/testa/
