Why is this Facebook Page outranking mine?
-
www.facebook.com/pages/Dudu-oSun-Black-Soap/75386099509
Term: Dudu Osun
My site is currently ranking 5 and 6 - is typically top 3. I've seen a Facebook page jump up in first before and then disappear.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

I'm also seeing it in position 10. However in a scenario where this would be outranking another domain some things to consider:
-
Facebook is a high authority site. That gives it a nice initial bump.
-
The page appears to be liked some 500ish times. If a portion of the users who like that page have thier profiles set to public, google can see those internal links from thier pages to that page. Facebook does not no-follow internal links. So if a portion of the public pages linking in also have a decent amount of links going to thier page (ie they have a lot of friends on facebook or they've heavily linked to their facebook page from a decent blog or something like that) you get a ton of juice flowing into that page all with exact match anchor.
When we do reputation management for some of our clients we actively use some of these exact things to boost pages on social platforms but we learned the tactic from observing this as a natural phenomenon.

Hi Mark! Are you sure you just not getting personalized results? When I search, both logged in and logged out using different browsers, I see the Facebook page showing up 10th. Although when I run a search in the Rank Tracker tool it says it's #1. Odd.
In general though, I've seen Facebook pages rank rather highly if Google sees them as more relevant than the site. One thing I noticed though is that on the Facebook page, you don't have a link back to the site listed anywhere, like in your About section. Plus it looks like perhaps the FB site is rather new? (Since I'm not seeing much content) If so, it might be ranking well due to a "freshness" factor.
Hope this helps a bit!

Should you do on-page optimization for a page with rel=canonical tag?
If you ad a rel=canonical tag to a page, should you still optimize that page? I'm talking meta description, page title, etc.

Keyword Appearing on Home Page - Moz Page Grader
Hi Today I entered www.partydomain.co.uk through the Moz Page Grader and found that the Home Page is Ranked B. I noticed that an Area we could improve on is the amount of times we are using our main keyword "Fancy Dress" on the home page. Please can you take a look at www.partydomain.co.uk and scroll to the bottom of the page were the tabs are containing losts of content. I am thinking about removing all of thoose Tabs. Our Competitors dont have any content as such on the home page and are ranking higher than Party Domain for "fancy dress" What do you think ? remove all the tabs to be like the others that rank better? Or cut the text right down ? Thanks Adam

Wordpress Post as Slideshow - One long page vs many short pages?
We are working on implementing a slideshow format for some of the posts on a website, and it appears that using this format breaks a long post into several shorter pages. That's what we want from a user experience standpoint, but are wondering if there are negative SEO implications from having the content broken up in this way, and whether search engines will view it as one longer page or several very short pages? Here is an example: http://www.forthebestrate.com/10-cheap-ideas-for-summer-fun/ Thanks for the help!

Too Many On-Page Links
Hi, I did a SEOmoz campaign and got results today, One of the results is Too "Many On-Page Links" when i am drilling down, i see that that's include inside links. for example, i sale food, i have my main department window - inside i have 30 products - each product is linked to a detailed page about the product. so automatically i have 30 links - not including all the others in this page, and i easily get over 100 and even sometimes 200 is this a big issue? does it damages my SEO? If yes, is there a way to write the HTML in a way that internal links like that wont be counted? Thank you SEOWiseUs

Duplicate Page Title
I have a dating site, it's got a lot of duplicate page titles, most of them are the language buttons for the users to view the site in there language. but I think it's obvious that the buttons don't have anything to do with it. I'm thinking that page tittle is basically a description of what the site is. like for an example "online-dating" is this it? please tell me in terms for a dummy, how to fix it.
