How fast is too fast when it comes to link building?
-
I'm getting ready to start a massive link building campaign. I plan on using a variety of anchor texts, getting links from a variety of sources, and only getting high quality links from relevant sites.
My main concern is getting penalized for gaining too many links too quickly. Does anyone have any advice on how fast is too fast? Or how much is too much in a certain amount of time?
Thanks!

Excellent Point Casey Kluver,
Building links is not like it used to be, as Casey pointed out SEOMOZ and many other sites depending on the topic can develop a ton of links and they did not even have to chase them or ask for them they just showed up, mainly because of what they do and how well they do it.
No take a car dealership that maybe a bit harder to get links for than say an automotive review site with articles on hot new items for the car or truck. Maybe they have controversial topics about a manufacture and a computer issue causing car accidents. Or you can even take Politics where someone said something that people did not agree on you may see a huge flux of push on that.
I hate to say it but build good quality content and links will come, when you do build good content then you can push out teasers to others on Facebook, Google+ and such and people will then share those articles with others. Google is looking for natural link patterns so yes if you get to many links from low quality building such as link exchanges and blast blogs with spam or tons of links back in forums and directories those may not help as much as someone really saying hey check this out.
I hope this helps.

Hi Rachel,
This is a touchy subject because it all depends on the site, content & consistency.
Think of a site like SEOmoz, they get a lot of links coming in everyday - day after day. Mainly because they provide high quality content on a daily basis. If they stopped writing blog posts the # of incoming links would drop highly.
That being said, if you are going out getting thousands of links in the next month, make sure you do that month after month after month. And keep providing fresh content so you can provide different content sources to link to.
If you plan on just going out and getting a ton of links now and then your done, your going to raise red flags because its not consistent.
Hope it helps!

Competitors black-hat link building?
Hi Mozzers, http://www.alivenetwork.com/ is a close competitor of ours. They're ranking far better than us even though many of our search metrics are the same...except one! links! To give you an idea, we've got a fairly large backlink profile for the industry with quality links.

34,981 links from 276 Root Domains = about 127 links/domain. Alive Network has 1,692,256 links from 705 root domains = about 2400 links/domain. Surely that looks a bit black-hat right there? Is it just a matter of time until they're penalised? Perhaps they're just a bunch of domain-wide links? Thoughts would be appreciated.1 -
Link Building Cost
Can anyone share typically what a US Based SEO Agency should or would charge for creating good quality backlinks? All of the pages we are targeting have been optimized with quality content and are ranking half decent. The keywords we are targeting are med-high competition keywords. We've located a few offshore agencies with prices in the 100$ range for 10 keywords but are leery of moving forward, currently it's the cost we are paying for 1 Keyword here in the US. Thank You!

Reputable Link Building Company
We are looking for a company who can build high quality links, from high quality domains to specific pages of our website. We are not looking for companies who create content or add to directories or post on blog rolls. Has anyone had any experience and can anyone recommend a link building company who can build high quality links to specific pages of a website? Thanks!

Good link building companies
I'm wondering if anyone has had good experiences with any of the link building companies out there. I'm really looking to hear about those companies who go beyond the mundane forum links, blog commenting, bulk directory submission, article directories etc. It's all been done to death. I've used webuildpages.com, they are pricey, but are good at getting high quailty links.

Link Building Tactics
Without giving all of your secrets away, what are your basic link building tactics? I'm trying to do everything legit, but man is it tough to get links from legit sites. This is the first time I've truly had to go out and build links. I am trying to partner with bloggers in my industry to post a review of our site and submitted to some of the major paid directories and stuff like that, but I'm curious to know what the pro's do.

Building Links to Exact Match Domains
What are the pros and cons having exact match domain and how can you create a brand name and build backlinks? Say we have a domain personalizedbirthdaygifts.com We are quite stuck with what anchor text we need to use and how do we vary it? I've heard that we have to stay away from using commercial keywords as anchor text heavily. We have to also use our brand name. And here we get stuck as we don't have a brand name. In this case Our brand name should be personalized birthday gifts but this is also commercial keyword. I have seen before similar websites droped from ranking because they have commercial keywords in their domain and most of their backlink anchor texts are commercial. If I had a website called twentyfive.com selling birthday gifts it would be a lot easier. But when you have a website personalizedbirthdaygifts.com and trying to rank for personalized birthday gifts and birthday gifts it's tough. OR isn't it? I hope I explained it well and didn't confuse anybody... Thanks
