Slow page load times from asynchronous javascript
-
Our analytics are showing that our homepage takes, on average, ~14 seconds to load. All of the content on the page loads fairly quickly, while it takes a few seconds to load the social media stuff (which is mostly asynchronous javascript that is running in the background).
The question is this: Does Her-Magesty-Google take into account the amount of time it takes to load everything, including the social media stuff from asynchronous javascript? Or does Google see that the content loads fairly quickly and doesn't ding me for the js that is running in the background?

I would check the loading times in Google Webmaster.
Then I would go to some websites that measure loading times and compare your webiste's speed with the speeds of your competitors. If your is significantly slower, I would worry.
Try to combine several js into one.
Try to substitute social media buttons with some other ones.

Is there a Penguin Time Limit
Hi, so I am curious if Penguin has a time limit? Like say after 90 days it resets and looks to see if any penalties still exist? Thank you

Ranked page is not desired page
I have a question on a problem I am currently faced with. There is a certain keyword that my employer wants to rank for. The good news is that sometimes it does rank in the top 5 pages of Google. (It drops in and out) The bad news is that it is going to a page that we need to keep, but not the ideal place we want people who are looking for that keyword to go to. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this type of situation and what tactic they used to get people to the better page.

Number of Words Product Pages
Hello, Can you give me some examples of how many words you use for product pages? I know it's going to vary and that quality is more important than number of words, but what's been optimal for you and why?

Different pages for OS's vs 1 Page with Dynamic Content (user agent), what's the right approach?
We are creating a new homepage and the product are at different stages of development for different OS's. The value prop/messaging/some target keywords will be different for the various OS's for that reason. Question is, for SEO reasons, is it better to separate them into different pages or use 1 page and flip different content in based on the user agent?

On Page Optmisation for Newbie
Hi All, Literally just signed up - and thought I might be able to dive straight into my pages using the On Site Optimiser to check page, make some changes, then check again and see it have immediate effect on the analysis. Not so? Each time I click on "Grade My On Page Optuimisation" with the expectation that a box formerly with no tick now gets one, nothing changes :o( Chris.

Canonical tag for home page
This question was asked before but I didn't see a clear answer to it. If I've got a site that has as it's home page: http://www.mysite.com/, and there are many references within the site back to the home page that point to /index.php, should I include a canonical tag in the index.php page like this: to avoid a duplicate content issue, and to have all juice from both links combined into one?
