Are hyphens not a good thing in page titles?

I am pretty sure hyphens are looked at as spaces no matter what programming language you are using for text purposes. The On-page Report Card is not counting them as spaces in the page title, therefore, we're not getting the grade for having the keyword in the page title because it's divided by hyphens.
Is this a fix that needs to be implemented into the SEOmoz app or should I not have hyphens in the title or does it really not matter?

Yea, I just thought it was a bug in the app. I think we'll run some experiments on titles with hyphens for a month or so to see if it truly impacts conversions. Then we'll write about it!!!

If I understand you correctly, you mean that your page titles look like "Are-hyphens-not-a-good-thing...", and that is definitely something that you should change. Search engine programming aside, this is probably not going to a good experience for your site users. It's different than what they're used to on the rest of the web, and will probably look strange to them and possibly discourage them from clicking in the SERP. Personally, I'd switch to just using spaces in my page titles.

To create extra pages, or not to create extra pages?
I'm responsible for a site where we cater for all kinds of medical & legal problems. I recently conducted keyword research that shows a lot of questions being 'asked' in relation to the conditions we cater for. Naturally, I want to create content to answer these questions. We have a page for 'Cancer compensation' - the 'possible content' that answers questions won't necessarily help someone claiming compensation for cancer mistreatment, BUT someone who asks a question relating to cancer, answered in the 'possible content' may find the 'cancer compensation' page useful. SO! Do I: Add this content to the existing 'cancer compensation' page? Create individual pages of content answering each question, linking to the 'cancer compensation' page? or do I amalgamate all the answers into one heafty 'resource' page that sits elsewhere on the site? Why isn't our site being shown on the first page of Google for a query using the exact domain, when its pages are indeed indexed by Google
When I type our domain.com as a query into Google, I only see one of our pages on the homepage, and it's in 4th position. It seems though, that all pages of the site are indexed by google when I type in the query "site:domain.com". There was an issue at the site launch, where the robots.txt file was left active for around two weeks. Would this have been responsible for the fact that another domain ranks #1 when we type in our own domain? It has been around a couple of months now since the site was launched. Thanks in advance.

Title Tags
Would it be wise to change title tags on the fly? ex. NFL regular season is now complete and they are into the playoffs, want to optimize and structure page around new info. Worried about losing current rank. Thanks guys

Page Title
My website was hacked last November and then again last week. Prior to the hacking we were at number one in Google.co.uk for our main search term "nile cruises' for years. After last November's hacking we dropped to about position 4 and after last week we are at position 7. Ima rebuilding the lost data and I am having to create new Title and Description meta data for each of the indexed pages. I am taking the opportunity to try and ensure my titles and descriptions are good and the correct length, etc but wondered about the best title format. I set our home page title over the weekend as: Nile Cruise | Leading ABTA & ATOL Bonded UK Nile Cruise Specialist I was going to try and cover 3 keyphrases in the title like this: Nile Cruise | Nile Cruises | Nile Cruise Bargains But I thought that might look a bit spammy because the 3 phrases are very similar. Duplicate page title issues with a CMS
I am using MODx as a CMS on a site and trying to eliminate duplicate page titles. url.com/ url.com/[~897~] which is really {~897~} its a resource number. url.com/home/ How can I resolve this issue when its all one page in the CMS? thanks
