URL Extensions (with or without??!!)
-
Hello, SEOers~
Today I have a question about URL extensions.
Which one is more search engine friendly between URL with extensions and without extensions?
e.g.
-
URL with extension : www.example.com/tv/lcd.jsp
-
URL without extension : www.example.com/tv/lcd
I heard that URL without extensions is in trend considering user experience.
User experience is also important but I would like to know from SEO perspective.
Please people~ Help me out with this~! Thanks.

Agree with Marek that you can certainly make URLs a lot firendlier for normal human beings. It can also help keep the urls shorter which can help when people are social sharing.
One significant advantage of dropping the extension is that it makes it so much easier if you ever want/need to change the platform on which your site runs.
Don't make changes to your URL structure on a whim though. You need to take a careful look at both your internal and inbound links and plan and redirections you need to put into place.
Remember that any change can be risky, so understand the risks and effort required before you start!

Generally without extension is better as it reduces your URL length, hence improves focus on the keywords used.

Hi,
In my opinion you can treat is using KISS - keep it simply stupid. When you ask somebody on a street what does lcd.jsp mean you can't get a correct answer but if you ask about 'lcd" many people will tell you correct answer.
Think robots are created as we are... and now is a big trend to use "friendly links".
so www.example.com/tv/lcd is correct and more accurate.
and follow this rule you can build link pyramid:
www.example.com/tv/lcd/sony/model-xxx
and so on, it creates very good link structure

Does a / at the end of a URL create a duplicate page?
Hello, I have just used (the amazing) Screaming Frog to check my site and it is listing the two following pages as having duplicate titles, making me think it is seeing them as duplicate pages. http://zenplugs.com/zenplugs-molded-earphones/ http://zenplugs.com/zenplugs-molded-earphones Do I need to redirect one of these? Thanks in advance! Toby

Better to hyphenate URL or no?
Sea Glass Jewelry or Sea-Glass-Jewelry My domain name does not have my keyword in it, so I have been using the category as a means to get the keyword in the URL. My site would say www.abcdefghijk.com/sea-glass-jewelry/sterling-starfish-necklace When I run the review, it tells me that I have too many parameters. Is it too long? Should I remove hyphens? Which is better?

Wordpress category url problem.
I have set up wordpress categories but the permalinks are showing as www.mydomain.com/?cat=12 as opposed to the category name. The child categories though work fine and show as www.mydomain.com/category/chidcatgegory I've obviously got my permalink settings wrong somewhere. How do I fix this?

301 redirects, efficiency and dynamic URLs
Hi, I have 2 301 redirect questions. Question 1: I have am working with a designer on the redesign of a website that currently has over 5,000 indexed pages. The majority of these are dynamic URLs from the Stone Locator database. (see below) http://www.domain.com/storelocator.php?zipcode=91784&page=12 How can I efficiently deal with these pages from an SEO perspective when developing the new site? Is there a way to do a bulk 301 redirect to a store locator page, for instance? Question 2: If a rel=canonical tag has been established on a page (www....), is it necessary to add 301 redirects to all of the other versions on: the home page (domain.com , domain.com/index.html, domain.com/index.html, etc.) all other pages with those same extensions ? Thank you for your help! Erin

Onpage optimization different outcomes for keyword with or without accent
I am a little bit confused with the results of the onpage analysis. I am trying onpage optimization for a spanish word which has an accent.. The results differ from Grade A, if i use the keyword with an accent, e.g. ropa premamá (the spanish word for maternity wear) to Grade C if I run the report without the accent ropa premama. I assume that most users will rather search for the keyword without accent. Would this mean that I need to change my keyword to non-accent or doesn´t it matter?
