Advice on further SEO
-
I am frustrated by a lack of progress for a major keyword I want to rank for. I have made several pages, optimized with Onpage and even a whole site but I can't seem to get my ratings up.
I am hoping somone can take a look at my pages and efforts and offer me some advice...
Keyword is "National Currency"
One site is devoted to this keyword: NationalCurrencyValues
This site is ranked 30th and is down 9...
and this page on another site is devoted to the same keyword
ranked 26th is: http://www.antiquebanknotes.com/National-Currency.aspx

First, I appreciate all the responses and I will certainly take something from each of them. Vahe touched on something that I thought I should do and now it's confirmed. My national currency page sits on top of several sub pages but I don't have links to the sub pages from within that page. I figured it was enough to have them on the menu. But in the back of my mind I wondered if there was some SEO type reason to use a bunch of internal links to make the site more navigable and to pass link juice around.
Thanks everyone who answered!

Internal linking for this page can improve. Each page is considered as a single entity. Therefore effectively interlinking pages can improve the strength of the overall site. Do this by:
- Having a breadcrumb which links to the homepage.
- Ensure all the sub pages for this section link to this page.
- If possible any other page (not too many) which mention about this topic, to include a link to this page.
What you are doing is essentially pushing up link juice from the lower level pages to this page to improve its authority. In addition you are linking this page to the home page so that search crawlers can also find this page much quicker. Ensure you use a keyword rich anchor text.
As Matt said also build links.
Hope this helps,
Vahe

The site seems to have decent on-site optimisation, now you should concentrate on some off-site work.
- Build some links, looking at competition, I think between 5 and 10 real manual links should work well. (good quality, relevant link sources are a must).
- Get some social work done - set up a twitter account and tweet with your keyword inside the tweet message and a link to your landing page. Once this is done you can encourage re-tweets. There is no point tweeting at all if you don't get retweets - these are the important factors for Google. Try to get your friends and genuine customers or site visitors to retweet it for you. Remember not to cheat this step, you cannot use fake accounts. These need to be genuine and aged accounts.
- Do the same as above with Facebook and the G+
With a little time this should see you climb. Dont forget to keep your content fresh... Update your content with some well written unique content (news section maybe?).

On-page looks good to most extent. If you just build 6-7 quality/authority links that are relevant, you have a good likelihood of outranking several competing sites to be at least on the 1st page.
If I were you I'd go for 3 word phrases first, rank for them (enjoy the traffic), and as you do that, you would be also building enough authority and trust to be strong enough to compete for major 2 word phrases. Having big goals for rankings is good but breaking them into small milestones makes them easier to achieve IMO.

SEO Effect of Outbound Links
Greetings MOZ community: What is best practices when it comes to creating outbound links to other websites? Will adding such links improve the MOZ domain authority of my site? How many outbound links should be added to each page? For example I run a commercial real estate web site in New York. About 20 pages are written about neighborhoods. If several outbound links are added to each neighborhood page, and these links point to pages that provide further information about that neighborhood, will my neighborhood pages where the links originates from see improved ranking (or ranking potential)? Are these outbound links a critical SEO factor? Thanks everyone!!

Local SEO for Pregnancy Centers?
So, the thing is, we don't want these websites associated with anything pro-life or Christian. So, we can't list them in those directories. And we can't list them in abortion provider directories because they don't do abortions. The organizaitons are Christian, pro-life -- but the target audience is the complete opposite. How can I effectively market their services without crossing any boundaries?

Problem with SEO for my Image based website.
My website focuses on movie posters. I'm having a little debate on what is the best way to have images linked to. The current image location is stored like this: /movie-name/poster-1.jpg
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | thedevilseeker
/movie-name/poster-2.jpg Is it best to leave it like that or change it to : /movie-name/movie-name-poster-1.jpg
/movie-name/movie-name-poster-1.jpg The reason I ask, is that I read today that Google uses the image name to help detect what the image is about. At the same time, if the movie name is the in folder structure, along with the image name... wouldn't it start to look like keyword stuffing?0 -
International SEO and server hosting
I'd appreciate feedback on a situation. We're going through a major overhaul in how we globally manage our websites. Regional servers were part of our original plan (one in Chicago, UK, and APAC) but we've identified a number of issues with this approach. Although it's considered a best practice among many, the challenges we'd face doing it are considerable (added complexity, added steps and delays to updating sites, among others). So, we shifted our plan and how are looking at hosting here in the US but to use Akami to deliver images and other heavier data pieces from their local servers (in the UK, etc.). This is how many of the larger companies like Amazon, etc. delivery their global websites. We hope that using Akami will allow us to have good performance while simplifying our process. Any warning signs we should be aware of? Anyone doing it this way and has a good experience/bad experience?

# element above Menu - Is there any SEO Value to it
Is there any Value to having the H1 element above the MENU in a Typical Application ? My intention is to tell the "Bot" that the H1 element is more important than the Menu Items . Are there any examples of such sites . The closest that I have seen is (NOT MY SITES) http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/ and http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/cheap-flights/from-dallas-texas/1531/?airport_code=dfw&depsub=1&c2calert=0&deal_alert=0&from_hp=true Here they (second link) they have H1 above the Bread Crumb ( they dont have any menu though).

Page Titles SEO Title
Hi, I run an e-commerce store and within the CMS I define the SEO title, SEO description and SEO keywords for each item. I spoke to a SEO firm who advised me to start every product title with the colour, as this will reduce the duplicate page titles and serve me well in the future. Whats everyones view on this? Does naming something Grey Armani Jeans | Armani Jeans from Designer Boutique stand up better against Armani Jeans Grey | Armani Jeans from Designer Boutique? Any help or tips on how to format the page titles and descriptions would be great. Thanks Will
