Multi-site listings in Google Local/Place pages
-
I've had problems with a client that is a local medical center with multiple sites/addresses. We've created a Place Page for each location and linked it to the location page on the client's website that matches the address on the Place page. But that means we're not linking to the medical center's home page -- and Google Places doesn't like that. I know this because after we'd owner-verified each Place Page, Google went in and just changed the website link that was a deep link to a location page and replaced it with a link to the home page. But now there's not an address match.
How should we handle this?
Related question: Does it make sense to claim a separate listing in Yelp and other local directories for each of the separate locations since they each have a unique address? Will Yelp & other local directories allow for links to non-home pages on the client's website?

You are very welcome, Denis, and good luck!

Thanks Miriam. That explains why Google took one of the individual location listings and essentially called it the main medical center listing, linked to the home page, whereas they didn't do that with the other location listings. Excellent. Very helpful.
On the Yelp thing, I have seen multiple different listings with different addresses for different locations of a single entity (other medical centers). So I think I'm going to try it.

Hi Dennis,
Google's policy is that you are allowed to claim 1 listing for the business and one for each partner within it. It sounds to me as if you haven't created a Place Page for medical center itself (linking to the homepage). You are allowed to do this.
Regarding Yelp - I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe you can link to a page other than the homepage. However, I'm not sure of the value of doing this at this point. It may be smarter to just go with the homepage and a general overview listing of the medical center.
Good luck!

We have sevaral locations and have had good luck with claiming each of our locations on yelp and other local directories.
As for the individual locations pages listings i think that it is best to link to the individual pages instead of linking to the home page.

Unusual Google+ Local listing ranking well
If you search for locksmith Phoenix, this Google+ page is ranked #3 in the local results: https://plus.google.com/117543374216451236579/about?hl=en The phone number is a VOIP number, they don't appear to have many/any citations, no reviews, etc. They've listed the Yelp search results page as their website. Strange. How are they ranking so well? Is Google ranking them well because it's associating them with Yelp.com? Any thoughts?

Geo sitemap & google webmaster tools
Uploaded a Geo-sitemap last week and made sitemap_index.xml that includes the geo & normal sitemap. Google Webmaster tools shows a warning for the geo sitemap, telling me that the geo tag isn't supported. This is how the xml looks like: <urlset<span class="webkit-html-attribute"> xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9"</urlset<span> xmlns:geo="http://www.google.com/geo/schemas/sitemap/1.0">http://www.mysite.com/locations.kmlgeo:format</geo:format>kmlSomebody, anybody knows the fix?

Quick ways of finding out of date / inconsistent citations
Hi fellow mozzers! We are currently relaunching our website and are in the process of ensuring all our local citations are up to date and consistent. In doing so, I've noticed that there are still countless listings under our old address, which probably isn't doing our local rankings a whole world of good! I have been hunting these down by searching "company name" "old address" to bring up any references, but I wondered if there was a tool to find these quicker, in the same way Whitespark finds citation sources to begin with? Similarly, is there a tool that flags up listings that have the correct NAP info, but that has maybe been formatted differently enough so as to cause consistency probs? Thanks all!

Local EZE Reviews?
Is anyone here a channel partner with Localeze or has subscribed? Any thoughts? http://localeze.com They want a yearly fee and to me this doesn't make sense as all it is doing is sending information to the local listing sites and this should be a one-time deal.
