How to out rank well with category page for high competitive keyword?

This is really silly question to ask over here! But, I have to drop my mind bubble after long R & D and efforts!
Right now, I am working on Patio Umbrellas keyword and want to out rank with following landing page.
http://www.vistastores.com/patio-umbrellas
I have implemented too many ways on this page since January 2012. Right now, my website is in top 20 position with this keyword.
I want to achieve top 10 ranking with Patio Umbrellas keyword. Now, I have certain limitation to make changes on web page. This is client requirement. So, I have to drill down more with link building.
I have started work on link building on since February 2012 and rank well with keyword. Now, I'm searching for link building way which help me to improve ranking in short time frame.
I don't want to do any single activity on this page which is UN-productive for me. If you have any on page inputs so it may help me more.
SEOmoz is really big source to search and justify answer but, I want to add expert advice in it.

The best way from what I understand is to continue link building, but do so from high authority sites with an anchor text to that specific page. Anchor text being, "patio umbrellas".
Blogs are a great place for that, because often your links will end up on the home page, at least for a short time, which will significantly improve results.
Try guest blog posts if you have time and have a network and link from authority sites blog rolls as well if you have them available.
Other than that, pray and hope.

Content of the Product Page

Site used to rank first for main keyword - now dropped drastically
The home page for this site (http://bit.ly/4m1eXy) was ranking between #1 and #3 for the term "Minneapolis criminal defense" as of a few months ago. Now the home page has dropped to #23 for this keyword, and the only changes we've made should be enhancing its ability to rank - through on-page optimization, cleaning up site errors, and ensuring good, quality content. The thing is, the sites who rank ahead of our site have lower domain authority and page authority, and their content, quite frankly, just isn't that great. Some of them are definitely doing SEO but they aren't necessarily targeting "Minneapolis criminal defense" like we are for the search term. Before our company started doing SEO for this website, they hired a company that generated a large number of backlinks that Google would probably now see as spammy. The previous company also used to direct traffic towards the home page for the keyword "Minneapolis DWI laywer" too - and we have since stopped doing that. So I'm wondering with all of Google's algorithmic updates if this is the reason we're seeing a drop for this term, and if Google's confused. We're pretty confused, too, though, since the sites ranking ahead of us don't seem to be doing squeaky clean SEO by any means. Advice for us? We're stumped. Would anyone consider Google's disavow tool for the bad links?

Keyword variation.
Hello dear community, I'm just starting to really understand how seo and in-page optimization works that to SEOMoz. I have done alot of seo for my other pages in the bad way expecting great results which acually hurt me more than help 😞 So right now I'm working on application which takes screenshots of your desktop and upload small files on the portals you select. I have done the website (template and most of the content) but I would like to know when I'm going to start and build some links, what are some of the best keywords I should choose? I do understand already than this is not an exact math, but any kind of help would be awesome! I would like to focus more around "screenshot" keyword and not that much on file upload. Hello, I have snow removal service, and im targeting western ma, but i cant really find keywords that are being searched on google for my area what would be the right keyword research , right now i have good keyword list but its too broad i mean like commercial snow removal 140 local searches snow plowing pricing 480 local searches roof snow removal 140 local searches again im targeting western Massachusetts around 20 cites and towns should i build my kw list like this to rank for 20 of these cites commercial snow removal western ma snow plowing pricing western ma roof snow removal western ma Thanks for help.

Page links vs. domain links
Hello all, I am trying to find out how Google weighs page inbound links vs. domain inbound links. I have a domain with about 100,000 inbound links and am adding a new page to my domain which at this time has 0 links. I will be trying to outrank a competitors page that has 6,000 inbound links to the competitors page, but only has 26,000 inbound links to my competitors domain . Is there a formula or a way to know how Google values a page link vs. a domain link?

Have I suffered a keyword specific penalty?
Hi all, We've been working on improving our ranking for a specific keyword for the past couple of months. Progress has been steady if not spectacular (it's a very competitive keyword). Last week we obtained (not bought!) a site wide link from a partner (nothing fishy, they are business partners in the same industry) as well as a link each from a relevant resource site and a directory with good PA/DA. The anchor text used on the new links is keyword rich. This week our rankings have fallen dramatically from page 2 to page 39 for our targeted page although other pages on our site still rank well for this keyword. The targeted page is still indexed by Google. Could Google just be reassessing our ranking for this page and it will return to its previous rank or is it likely it has received a keyword specific penalty? Thanks in advance.

My google rankings went down
I've been working with a company to get some incoming links since April 2011. We are targeting only 2 keywords. For one keyword I was ranked number 1 until a couple of weeks ago. In fact, most of my rankings went down including those keywords that the company was not working on. They are writing 5 articles per month and posting them to their proprietary network. Could those backlinks could harmed my rankings?
