Preparation of website before Submitting to Paid Directories?
-
I am reading that submitting to premium directories is a good way to get a jumpstart on SEO rankings. I have noticed that most of the good ones take a while in order to be approved and that many do not guarantee a listing, even if you pay $299 (Yahoo). So my question is, Do directories turn you away if you have bad web page optimization on your website? Because if they do then I definitely need work done there first.
Any advice on getting accepted into the premium directories the first time?

Thank you for your responses. I will get to work on fixing up my site first before I submit.

If you want in then don't waste their time with a half-done site. There is plenty of trash on the web. You should be trying to impress them.

If you are going to go down the paid directory route then just check that you read all of the submission guidelines first.. each directory may have different rules on what they do/don't like.
I'm not a big fan of directory links and it's not something that I put a great deal of effort into.. there are lots of other ways to build links or encourage social sharing.
There are quite a few things on your site to look at.. I would work though all of the issues on here: http://gtmetrix.com/

Organic and Paid
HI Guys, For one of my site we have been investing a less in Paid and since we have done that the Organic has gone quite up. I know there is a connection between the two but i would like to know if any of you can share their experience on this matter. I would like to know if someone has a run some experiements to understand how much each channel influences the other. It goes without saying that Paid tend to cannibalize a bit of organic but when it goes down, should i really expect an increase in organic? Any thoughts? Thanks

Would you launch a paid search campaign with 'Exact Match' only keywords
Hi Mozzers, I'm building a new campaign for a business start-up, and search volumes with the industry are HUGE! I want to target high commercial intent keywords, to maximise the number of conversions / sales from my paid search campaigns. Using the forecasting tool in Adwords, it looks like I can [exact match] these high commercial intent keywords and still get the click volume I'm aiming for. Would you, therefore, use this approach - where you only match at an exact level to control the quality of traffic coming through from the paid search campaigns? I plan to achieve relevance by having ad groups broken down into clear themes with around 10 - 15 exact match keywords per ad group. Let me know your thoughts... Thanks!

Custom Filter: Organic Traffic Growth VS Paid Traffic Growth
Hi guys, I need some assistance. We recently removed and disavowed links to our site and I believe it has been about 3 months but I can't see much of a change. Can anyone help me with a filter for GA to be able to measure my organic traffic growth and my Paid search traffic growth. I was also wondering, because organic traffic is determined by variables like fresh, relavant and key phrase rich content constantly being posted, good seo practices etc is there any good way of measuring organic traffic growth vs paid? Please help out where you can.

Questions on Paid Directory Links...
Hi Moz Community! We have a client in the manufacturing industry that is listed in Thomasnet.com for a about 75 different terms. For those that might not know, this is a paid directory site that ranks extremely well and has a very high DA at just under 90. These 75 different terms have spanned about 9,000 "dofollow" links on Thomasnet.com around 4 months back, right about the same time as the Penguin 2.0 update. The link profile for this client had around 2,000 links prior to the 9,000 additional links, and our team is unclear if we should be concerned about these paid directory links. The organic rankings have dropped a bit, but that might be because of a more general Penguin update and not be directly tied to this paid directory. I'm looking for some general guidance and recommendations in this paid directory space and help with Thomasnet.com if available. Should these links be requested as changed to "nofollow"?

Will Google see this domain as one major domain link?
What other recommendations/experience with "quality" paid directories can be expected? Thanks much and look forward to your comments and discussion. Dario0 -
No paid results for specific search term?
Just doing some research for a potential PPC campaign. For the search terms I'm looking to target, no paid results appear wither above or to the right of the organic SERPs. Does anyone know the reason for this? Search term "Cigar Merchants" Is this because the search term is smoking related? Thanks!
