Effects of link bait page
-
Hi Mozzers! I'm thinking about putting a page with some interesting comedy content on my site as link bait and had a few questions on how i should go about it.
1. Should I link to this page from my home page or would it be better to build outside links to it and then funnel all the page rank to the pages on my site that i want ranking higher? I've been told that page rank is a tiny factor in ranking in the serps so is it worth doing if the only reason i'm building it is to funnel page rank to my important pages? The link bait page content will be on the same subject as my entire site so it will definitely help google associate my site with my product from the incoming links.
2. if a web page on my site receives links does it help other pages on my site to rank higher or just the page with the incoming links? One time i had a flurry of links pop up to my home page and it seemed like all my pages started ranking higher, but it might just have been coincidence? Any thoughts?
3. What's a good way to get my page seen by the masses to draw links? I thought about buying some stumbles on Stumbleupon to get it seen quickly but are there more or better ways to do this?
Thanks in advance everyone!
Ron

YES! Especially from your homepage. Tell everybody that visits your site!
-
YES! Every quality links helps the authority of your entire domain.

If you have superb linkbait then share it will other people by tweeting to your friends, posting on facebook, ask your mum to tell visitors to her blog, share it with reddit, put a sign on your dog..... but I don't think that I would buy any stumbles... because if your link bait is really good it should get tons of stumbles without paying for them.

- Link from your homepage and Google will take it more seriously. Link back to the homepage as well. Link building to the pages never hurts.
b) Helps it all because the page juice gets distributed throughout your site (assuming you are dofollowing those pages and not throwing away the PR with nofollows
c) Getting it ranked in Google is probably the best way, but if it's content worthy of possibly going viral then SU, FB, Youtube campaigns all MAY or may not work.

Outgoing links
Hi Guy's, We have a website with no outgoing links (only Facebook). Is this a good way to score better in the SERPS? Or is it better to have some outgoing "relevant" links for a natural linkjuice? Thanks!

Page Authority vs Domain Authority for Inbound Links
When executed correctly, earning links from high authority sites that are relevant to my website's industry are still valuable correct? So I want to know what is more valuable to my site and influencing the ranking of my site? Is it better to gain links that have a high page authority or domain authority? What is more valuable to my site and influencing its ranking?

301 redirect lost page authority & total links how ensure it passes on.
hello, I recently changed from www to non www. I have redirected my whole website so if I type www. it goes to the non-www page. doing a open site explorer I noticed my www. still has the page authority 14/100 with 6 links. where as the non-www page has 1/100 page authority and no links. how do I get the www. to mirror the non-www links?
Link Building | | finnmoto
eg if you goto http://www.finnmoto.com.au/mens-motorcycle-kevlar-hoodie/ it will goto the non-www version automatically, so why does the non-www replicate the page authority / total links attached picture for reference.
Google webmaster has been selected for non-www, its been about 2 weeks.
my domain authority i think about about 21 or more now its 19 aswell. I have a feeling:
nofollow or rel=canonical has something to do with it but Ill need read into what that does and how to apply. any ideas? uRiJ2Ul.png?10 -
Indirect Link Earning via dofollow Links In News Articles
Hello, MOZ SEO Gurus. I've been trying to think some deep thoughts on safe, effective link earning for news publishing sites, and wanted to run this up the flagpole and see if you salute. Our site is a biotech news service -- we pump out copious amounts of news content each day, which works well for driving traffic. That being said, we also want to rank some optimized landing pages as well. Take, for example, this page, which we'd like to rank for "secondary progressive MS" and related keywords: http://bionews-tx.com/secondary-progressive-ms/ Now, as far as I'm concerned, shopping this page around to MS influencers isn't easy. I can go to Foundational websites, blogs, etc., and say, "hey, we have this info page on SPMS, and I thought that you might find it helpful/want to link to it." But chances are, the MS influencers already have their own proprietary content on SPMS, and there isn't much value to linking to it. Therefore, I think that we'll get few link earning conversions on the effort. However, what if I take our Secondary Progressive MS landing page, and I link to it in a corresponding article about SPMS research, as I did here: http://bionews-tx.com/news/2014/01/30/secondary-progressive-ms-natalizumab-clinical-trial/ Then, I go to the drug developer who is at the center of this story and say to them, "hey, we recently covered your drug in the news, and I thought you might want to link to it." Then, we get a link from an MS drug developer to the news article, which in turn has a prominent anchor text, dofollow internal link to the landing page for SPMS. If the link from the drug developer is dofollow, then we flow page rank juice from the drug developer page to our news page to our landing page. To me, it's much easier to earn safe links this way than to try and shop the landing page itself. That being said, if we get a dofollow link on the news piece, we only get a diminished portion of page rank going to the landing page. Is this strategy viable? Is the indirect flow of page rank from a linking site to a news article to a landing page even worth it? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Competitor links on unmaintained pages
hey all, this is my first posting... I have a webpage that is a great resource (ranked 3rd for my keyword) , and unarguably better than the site that is taking the first 2 places. Because my page is a much more useful resource for the same thing I have been looking at who is linking to them and asking them to take a look at mine in the hope that they will replace their link with my more up to date page. The problem is a LOT of the high value links they have (many .edu links) are from old, now unmaintained pages, where I have no chance of getting a link (or even contact with a webmaster) Its frustrating that they have so many good links to such an out of date page. I just wondered if any of you have had a similar situation. It just seems very hard to knock someone off that top spot if they have been established a long time, regardless of the quality of their content. I guess there is no solution to it except to find lot of other high value links myself - so not so much a question as a comment really! but happy to hear peoples own experiences of that sort of situation.

How might Google differentiate between an artificial link exchange and partners linking to each other?
Hi, All! Artificial link exchanges (contacting a vaguely connected site and requesting to exchange links to increase your PR) is, as far as I know, considered an outdated, not-so-smart technique, as Google might devalue them. Yet, for real business partners to exchange links seems to be an entirely accepted and encouraged technique. While that would be intuitive to a human who's viewing the pages. how might Google detect when two sites that link to each other are linking because they are trusted business associates (valuable) as opposed to when they are doing a link exchange (devalued)? Thanks! Aviva

How to improve (ASAP) the linking root domain, the followed linking root domains and the linking C-Blocks? Linkbuilding (or whatever) techniques.
I have a small site (.com) like any website in my sector. 30-90 pages. I have no crawls errors. Everythings is fine, just I need to improve my linking root domain, the followed linking root domain and the linking C-Blocks. Example: my competitors have 300 (one of them have 1300) of total links. I have 30. Anyone know some good strategies? techniques? tips? I just dont want to be in a farm directory, I want free links. I'm already running two strategies but it works so slowly. I want something faster at this moment. Also, any recommendation will be thankful.

Using parked domain page to get 50k+ of low quality links, good idea?
Hi all, I'm managing the seo for a hosting company. We have a lot of parked domains with a parked domain page. This will now be updated to promote our products. When this page is updated it will give 50k+ of low quality links to specific pages almost overnight. We curently don't have a very good seo ranking for our keywords, so there is little risk on the downside in the short term. Do you have any suggestions as to how I should go about this? Some alternatives off the top of my head: 1. get the page up an focus all the link equity on relevant pages with keywords in anchor text 2. add noindex / nofollowto all pages or only part of them to avoid puishment 3. add noindex / to the majority of the pages and "release" a percentage every week or so to avoid a "link bomb" Thanks for any and all input!
