OpenSiteExplorer Doesn't Show accurate links
-
Why do I get different results from SEOmoz tool bar and OpenSiteExplorer for some sites.
For instance I look at one site and toolbar says it has 101 link domains, so I check it in OpenSiteExplorer and it says 2 link domains...?
Am I missing something, or is it just not working properly?

Hi Barney,
Thanks for letting us know. Sometimes when you click through to OSE from the MozBar, on rare occasions Open Site Explorer will drop the "www" and show you metrics for the incorrect subdomain.
The best thing to do is make sure that you're reading the right subdomain in OSE. So if your url contains a "www" make sure it is entered in the OSE address bar, and if the URL you are checking doesn't have a "www" make sure this is also reflected in the address bar.
I believe the engineers mostly fixed this bug recently, so it shouldn't come up to often. If you are seeing something else or this doesn't seem to fix it, be sure to let us know. You can also write the SEOmoz help team at help@seomoz.org.
Hope this helps! Best of luck with your SEO.

In the SEOMoz tool bar it says 4,000 links from 101 domains - then I click on the link directly from tool bar and it says 2 domains...
so it seems to be a problem with the tools...?

The 2 links you are seeing in opensiteexplorer is most likely the 2 unique domains that link to you. 101 links in SEOMoz toolbar is the number of pages that link to you from those 2 domains.
If that's not the case, just make sure you are using the exact same url including the 'www' in the beginning.

Can't find duplicate page content
Hi all. I'm trying to create a report to list all of my site's duplicate content that SEOmoz says we have. However when I click on the link it just shows me the title and description of the page. I don't know what the other page is that has duplicate content or what the duplicate content is. Where do I find this information? Thanks in advance!

Can someone explain to me why OSE shows two different numbers for Linking Root Domains in the header and in the results area?
See Photo Below. 271 in the header, 500 plus in the results section. I just want an accurate number to chart my progress from here on out. Majestic numbers seem inflated too much. Google Webmaster Tools too. g58HX.png

Link Diagnosis and Open Site Explorer
I work at a web design firm that's starting to offer SEO to its clients. They want to keep costs down until the SEO side becomes more established, so I've been using mostly free tools to do the SEO. I've been using a website called LinkDiagnosis.com to check backlinks for clients. It says the data is provided by SEOmoz, so I thought it must be pretty reliable. However, I just signed up for the PRO trial to test out all of SEOmoz's tools (& hopefully convince my company to sign us up), and I find that the link information between the 2 tools can be vastly different! Sometimes the number of unique linking domains is very close, but other times it can be off by hundreds, even thousands, with Open Site Explorer typically providing the higher numbers. Is the Link Diagnosis tool really powered with data from SEOmoz, or does it just receive a portion of the data, since it's a free tool? I'm just trying to figure out what will be the most reliable solution for me to keep using, and the discrepancies between the two tools has caused me to question the reliability of both. Thanks, Hector

Links from External Sites not Showing on OpenSite or Google Webmaster Tools
Hi, I asked this in another post, but didn't get a solid answer. For several websites I manage, I have access to their Google Webmaster Tools. When I put the site through there, or the link:// or SEOMoz's OpenSite link reporter, I get not even a fraction of the links that I know are pointing to the websites in question. Some of these links are from home pages or side columns, and some are from articles keep within a website, like at Inc.com. I wondered if the links in question were not themselves being indexed, but if I do a very specific search, I can pull them up in the search results. Is it just common knowledge that these link tools are not accurate? And to assume that somehow, search engines really do see all of the inbound links, even if our reporting tools don't. Thanks in advance!

Link Blocks
Sorry, perhaps a noob question. In relation to site explorer, have also searched and unable to find any information, wondered if anyone could advise as to what "Linking C Blocks" are? Found under the "Compare Link Metrics" tab. Thanks in advance. Lee

Why Do Domain Link Metrics Differ in Keyword Difficulty Report vs OpenSiteExplorer
If anyone could shed some light on this that would be great. It seems as if the two tools are using different versions of the database?

What's Your SEOmoz Favorite?
Obviously, SEOmoz is full of awesomeness. But I'm curious as to what sections, tools, etc. of SEOmoz are the users' favorites? For me, it's a close race between the blog, Linkscape/Open Site Explorer, and the search overlay tool on the Mozbar. What are your favorites?
