High bounce rate from Google Shopping
-
Hi Mozzers, I'm carrying out some analysis on our eCommerce site and the bounce rate from Google Shopping is well above the site average at 60%. Our shopping feed is submitted to Google every morning so we know that images and prices are up-to-date which would obviously cause a high bounce rate. Any ideas on what might cause this? Is it normal for Google Shopping to produce a high bounce rate? Cheers guys!

Thanks for your reply. Removing products from the feed isn't really an option for us as it is for you but we can definitely look at improving our calls to action for related products.

Hi Brendan,
Our Google shopping feed has a higher than normal bounce rate (as compared to our general site traffic) as well.
I think a contributing factor is customer intent which in my opinion is largely price comparison/bargain hunting.
If the shopper knows what they are looking for they will check the price, make sure it is what they are looking for and either buy or bounce.
I'm doing two things to manage the bounce rate from the feed:
1. Identify the products that get a lot of traffic and but produce a high bounce rate and take it out of the feed. We have a large number of products on our site that are not shippable by conventional means so that factor contributes to bounce rate for us.
2. Put closely related and/or compelling product links or promotions on product pages to snag more click throughs.
The result of doing number 1 has had a positive affect in reducing bounce rate. I'm still working on number 2

Increase in Direct traffic, drop in Google traffic, after updating Google Analytics settings.
I made some changes to our Google Analytics property settings (see notes in screenshot). As a result, there was an equal drop in Google traffic and increase in Direct traffic. Has anyone else seen something like this before? I'm wondering if I should revert. jE7buO6

Why is this tag not firing in Google Analytics?
I setup Google Tag Manager on this site- http://germanhausbarn.com I am trying to setup event tracking for the donate, newsletter, and Contact Us button at the bottom of the page. The most recent version is published, and I ran debug and it shows that they fire, but nothing is coming up in analytics. Any thoughts?

How often does google content experiments stats update?
From my experience it seems to update once per day (every 24 hours), can anyone confirm this is the case or have a link to an official announcement which confirms how often the data updates? It would be handy to know when it updates so we can see the latest information as it comes in.

Google Webmasters DNS error
Hi, In my webmaster tools I have a yellow triangle stating that there is a DNS error that is preventing Google crawling my sites. The site is indexed and I have checked fetch as Google and that seems ok but the triangle is still there every time I check it. The whois sites all have the correct information and point to Hostgator who I am using. I have contacted them and they said everything seems ok. Should I just carry on as normal with my link building as the site is indexed or investigate even further? Cheers, Stuart

Google Images referral visits fell off a cliff
As of 28-Jan, referral traffic from Google images (/imgres) to my domain has pretty much vaporized. Visits are down 85%. It's actually not a disaster because most of those visits were from poorly optimized alt tags that were resulting in low quality visits. The interesting thing is that visit duration is up 80% during the same period. So I'm asking this question out of curiosity more than anything. Is this likely an algorithm tweak? I can't think of any major changes on my end. There's only one other data point to mention but I don't see how they'd be connected. I did two PRWEB releases on 29-Jan and 30-Jan that resulted in a few hundred new no-follow links back to my site. 22b7k2.png

Google Analytics - Cross Domain Tracking Goals
Hi guys, looking at the best way to organize this - Site 1 - Shoe Store - (Old site with analytic history - UA-12345-1) Site 2 - Clothing Store - (Brand New UA-54321-1) Right now i have 2 separate GA Accounts for the sites. But i would like to track goals from Site 2 to Site 1. For that i need to set up cross domain tracking. So i take it i would need to create another account under Site 1 - (UA-12345-2) and put that new code on Site 2? Or do the UA numbers have to be exact? example both 12345-1? In which case, i would need to set up 2 different profiles with filtering? Main concern is i want to keep separate data for both sites, espically if UA's will be the same. Trying to visualize - UA-12345-1 Profile 1Shoes/Master Profile 2 Shoes Profile 3 Clothes Or UA-12345-1 Shoes UA-12345-2 Clothes Thanks, Mike

Google +1 and ranking effect .
Anyone have any experience as to what effect google +1 has on ranking? Trying to figure out what impact it might have. Ecommerce site in norway selling childrens clothing. Atm we are ranking 25th for main targetted word childrens clothing (barneklær in norwegian). on google.no this has a difficulty of 34. None of main competitors have any amount of google +1's on their site. Lets say if I in some way could manage to get 100 ppl to push +1 button. Would this affect our ranking at all ? Might be impossible to answer but if anyone has thoughts about it I am interested. Thanks
