Yeah, about 3 years ago in an agency. They discussed all the agency client's needs with us and then went behind our backs to the clients to negotiate direct deals.

Wasnt impressed at the time, maybe they are better now

The technique they used was to use your content on pages they made and be better at SEO. Then they charge you for every Organic click they refer through to you. It works best with massive corporates who are unable to make any SEO changes to their website

https://google36059.reachlocal.net/collections/featured This seems really odd to me. It appears to be a fully working Google+ page and I can access the links that are other Google+ pages, but it is a subdomain of Reach Local. Any ideas?

Using web dev agencies to generate backlinks

Going to start by saying I'm totally new here, so apologies in advance is this is a dumb question! I run a site that is focused on home buyer education. The site is brand new, so no almost no link profile, and I'm trying to grow my backlinks. On twitter I've had success with real estate agents sharing my articles to their followers, which is great. It helps them educate their customers and feeds the social media beast. I realized that realtors, mortgage brokers, and insurance agents (all relevant to my niche) don't usually run their own websites. Many of these sales people leverage agencies, and often the agencies offer blog posting as part of their service offerings. I'm tempted to do some outreach to these agencies and offer to write guest posts. I figure they get free, quality content and I beef up my link profile. Is this a bad idea? Are there any risks with this approach?

I was just wondering what do most people use for gathering and building links? Is OpenSiteExplorer enough? When I am analysing competitors, there are literally thousands of links, how do you scan them and select the ones you want to use? Any other tools?

Anyone used this service before? - Organic Content Distribution

I was pitched today by a "content syndication network" that claims to be able to syndicate across 200 "local news" sites along with syndicate the content to the editors and writers social sites, along with the publisher social sites for a flat fee. Just like a MarketWire.com service but NOT for press releases. For articles. The company offering this is www.befirstinc.com. Need to vett them out and make sure this is not a FTC nor Google Quality Guidelines violation for SEO purposes.

I keep getting a little picture of Matt Cutts pop up in the right hand side bar every time I am on Facebook. The advert goes through to this company seocosmo I wonder if Matt Cutts knows they are using his image to sell SEO services 🙂

How do you use a blog to help SEO.

Hi, So you launch a blog on your website, fill it with lots of great content and update weekly with more great content. From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? Is it bad to insert links to other sites and use bold on keywords?

Hi, This is a question I always had doubt about, and would be very grateful in to know your opinions. Is it bad to link to other sites? Can this causes problems to my blog? I frequently insert links in keywords, etc, for other sites. Many times, for sites greater than mine, and I heard from some people that this is bad. Is this correct? In last days, I have used, in some links, the atribute "nofollow". This is good, or not? In a case, for example, when linking to Wikipedia, is it good to use "nofollow"? And about keywords: I'm mostly using bold on them. Is it good, or not? This subject always makes me think. I would be very grateful for any help. 🙂
