Number of characters to duplicate content
-
I wonder how much characters in a page title so it can be characterized for Googleas duplicate content?
Sorry for the English, I used Google Translator.
I'm from Brazil
Thanks. -
I have been wrestling with this issue for some time. As far as we have been made aware, if a Page Title exceeds 70 charactes not only will this text not appear in the Search Results, but Google will also not index text after this limit.. But Andrew do you believe this too not be the case, and in fact having perhaps longer Page Titles with Long-Tail Keyword targeting is a good way to improve ranking?
This article seems to agree with this as well:

We had begun to reduce Page Title Character lengths across site but we are in 2 minds whether to do so now!

As stated, the titles have to be exactly the same. 1 character different and they're not duplicate. Although 70 characters is what Google displays in the searches, they index more than that. You can make your title 140 characters long to make it unique, it just will cut off in the search.

The way I have seen duplicate page titles reported is "Exact duplicates" So if you have 2 pages with Page Title as "Widgets", they will show up as Duplicate. However, if one of them was a Blue Widgets and the other was Red Widgets, they will not show up as duplicate. It's a good idea to work on Duplicate Page Titles, but don't do all the work to make sure Google does not see them as Duplicate any more. Look at them as opportunities to display the correct, relevant information in the SERPS so that user's click through to your website. I hope that helps.

Less then 70 characters is best

Not sure what you mean by duplicate content. Every title should be unique and then you will not have to worry about duplicate titles.
Duplicare content means that Google has indexed content more than one time. Google does not like duplicate content on a page.
Google will look at the first content as the original and index it as the original. Anything after that is duplicate content. If you want to use someone else's content be sure to link back to the original article.

Mass Duplicate Content
Hi guys Now that the full crawl is complete I've found the following: http://www.trespass.co.uk/mens-onslow-02022 http://www.trespass.co.uk/mens-moora-01816 http://www.trespass.co.uk/site/writeReview?ProductID=1816 http://www.trespass.co.uk/site/writeReview?ProductID=2022 The first 2 duplicate content is easily fixed by writing better product descriptions for each product (a lot of hours needed) but still an easy fix. The last 2 are review pages for each product which are all the same except for the main h1 text. My thinking is to add no index and no follow to all of these review pages? The site will be changing to magento very soon and theres still a lot of work to do. If anyone has any other suggestions or can spot any other issues, its appreciated. Kind regards Robert

Is my blog simply duplicate content of my authors' profiles?
www.example.com/blog is the full list of blog posts by various writers. The list contains the title of each article and the first paragraph from the article. In addition to /blog being indexed, each author's contribution list is being indexed separately. It's not a profile, really, just a list of articles in the same title & paragraph format of the /blog page. So if /blog a list of 10 articles written by two writers, I have three pages: /blog/author1 is a list of 4 articles /blog/author2 is a list of 6 different articles /blog is a list of 10 articles (the 4+6 from the two writers) Is this going to be considered duplicate content?

Duplicate page titles
We have search results pages on our site. They share the same page title, there is no real differentiator between the result pages, other than page 1, page 2 etc. How do we de-dup the titles? just add page 1/2/3 etc to the end of them?

Duplicate Content
We offer Wellness programs for dogs and cats. A lot of the information is the same except for specifics that relate to young vs. senior pets. I have these different pages: Senior Wellness Kitten Wellness Puppy Wellness Adult Wellness Can each page have approx. 75% of the same text? Or should I rewrite each page so the information (though the same) appears unique.

Meta description tags & title tags duplicate content?
Although meta description tags have no impact on rankings - can there be a negative effect from having many duplicate meta title + description tags with just 1-2 words switched out?
