Does google follow text links without the link?
-
Hi
A short question.
Lets say I have been mentioned in an article online like "also mentioned on www.domain.com is" but the url mentioned is not a link does that give any seo value at all to my site?
Does it count towards building a brand i googles eyes by being mentioned a lot but not awarded a link?
Hope you can help clarify

If your brand is been mentioned alot on line it can be good for the following:
-
It can have a positive impact on Auto Suggest if people search for it a lot (Brand+ Term)
-
You can research out to websites who mention your brand and ask them to link back to you with the article, I would track brand mentions with Google alerts.
-
But overall if you have heaps of people just typing your brand term on a bunch of websites it is not going to help your overall link building efforts, you need to do the hard work to reach out to sites to acquire the links.
Its all relation ship building.

You won't be awarded any PR value if it is not a link, at best someone might copy and paste the text link and visit your site. In that case I woud usually contact the web master and ask to make the text link a proper link.

How to count number of app's installations for users who install app from https://play.google.com?
The task is to find out which banner on my site provides more installations of the game. The banners' urls link directly (refferal source in the url is specified) to the game page on https://play.google.com. Google Analytics and Google Play are connected but I've faced the problem that Google Analytics counts only visitors who install app via Google Play app so visitors from the banners to play.google.com aren't counted at all. That's the question, is there any way to count visitors to the app page on play.google.com and to count the number of installations by these visitors ?

Should URL Follow Navigation Of A Site?
Following an SEOMoz webinar the other day, where the presenter made a case of eliminating folders in URLs, as these could confuse a bot when crawling a site. I love the idea. However, there are still a lot of Best Practices and guidelines out there that will suggest there should be a logic in the URL, just as there should be in your Navigation. My question in that regard is whether or not there is any value for a bot to crawl a website URL that follows the navigation by "stuffing" the URL with folders, identical to the navigation present on the site, and even a secondary navigation present on all pages? Example: the navigation of a site goes [Domain > Folder > Sub folder > Sub-sub folder > product]. What is the benefit of using a URL such as [www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder/sub-sub-folder/product] vs [www.domain.com/product] Thank you guys for your insights! PS this is a WP site we are talking about.

Why would so many links be appearing in the source code of this page - but not on the page itself?
Hi everyone, Have a look at the source code of this page: http://www.daleproaudio.com/c-332-mixers.aspx Notice the numerous links in the source code that do not appear on the page. Is this cloaking? Or is it a by-product of their use of Nextopia? Bonus points if anyone knows what platform this site is running on 🙂 Thanks!

Searching google without bias
i read a tip once and can't find the reference to that tip. It had to do with searching google without including the history of your searches to bias the result. The user was suppose to put a code at the end of the URL, like &pw or something like that. Anyone hear of this?
