Do links from a Tumblr blog count as inbound links?

That's it. I'm thinking of making a Tumblre blog (s) for inbound links. Is it worthwhile?

THanks for your help Andy. We are doing just that - guest blogging is a greaty way in - be it with content, infographics or whatever. Works really well for us at the moment.

LOL. It was actually a very reputable conference/speaker... I don't think they were advocating link farming, but moreover the principal of it.
I agree though - I'm actually very white hat (have to be!) so it's not something I'd consider. 100% agree with root domains being more important. Thanks for your help.

I think you should start visiting other speakers on your seminars
The amount of root domains linking to you is far more important that the numbers of links from a domain. Having 50 Tumblr blogs would never count as good as 50 different sites linking to you. -

No - i don't think I'd do that - was more over looking at the principal of it (as opposed to the rights/wrongs). At a seminar I went to recently one of the speakers had over 50 Tumblr sites and was touting this as a legitimate tactic...

That sounds to me like you are wanting to start your own little link-farm - I would advise you steer well clear of this!

I think they do, as I can't find any 'nofollow' on their links. However, unless if you have a really popular (and well linked to Tumblr blog), I don't think the value will be large.

Hello, What is your latest link building techniques considering manual link building is basically dead, and you should really build good content to drive results. Link building has really become less important. It seems to be much more 10X content now. When pitching a whitepaper as Push Content for Link Building (i.e. pushing out content that my client has created), is it ok to give the person I'm pitching a link to a landing page with a form on it? Or should I create a landing page with the whitepaper included on it? I’m not sure if the client will be ok with this b/c I know they use the whitepaper for sales purposes to gain leads. For example, my pitch email would include a line such as this, "the whitepaper can be found at LINK and I'd love if you could share it with your readers." I think it may be weird/a little wrong to ask a webmaster to include a link on his site to a landing page with a form to get the whitepaper. Does this make sense? What have others done with whitepapers as Push Content for link building?

Finding links online that already exist as link juice based on search results
I'm curious about this, I can't find anything on the net that talks about it. I wrote an article about it on squidoo and have had no responses so I am thinking this is very rare subject. The question is I have done some backlink research with my competitors with linkdetective.com and found many links (even follow ones) related to sites that provide search results. Here are a link about what I am talking about as an example, I have found many more besides this one. http://search.lphant.com/es/webResults.html?q=free%20scrabble%20dictionary&hl=en&page=1&src=hmp_es&ref=1 My site appears in those results. When looking at the source there is no "nofollow". I found this page because linkdetective.com had this link listed pointing to my competitor. Are these valid backlinks? What I have been doing is adding these links to http://www.google.com/addurl so that Google knows about them. Is there something I am missing or are these valid?

Blog commenting
Is this still a good way of getting backlinks? I do not plan on making it my only method. Most of my backlinking is done through content creation, press releases, and guest blogging. But looking for some variety in there that can be done quicker. Is it even worth the time or are the links too spammy now? If I did I would actually hand build the links and comment to the article.

Link Churn - where have all my links gone?
I am sure most of you have asked yourself the question I'm asking right now.. Where have all my links gone? I am starting to get twitchy now. I would estimate we have lost around 60% of our links in the past 3 weeks. Does anyone have any comeback stories? Feel like I am back to the start again. I have made a number of changes on the site not least removing a reciprical link page.. that had over 200 links on it but from reading one of Rand's tweets is it true that linking out could be good again?

Will removing old (3 years+), low quality inbound links potentially improve my rankings?
I have a client site with thousands of old very low quality links purchased from directories etc over several years - I am certain these are doing nothing for the current rankings and I advised them to stop buying these links 18 months ago when I first started working with them, but do you think pro-actively getting old poor quality backlinks removed will potentially improve the site's rankings?
