Problem with Rankings and On-page Optimization
-
Hi SEOZ
I have a question regarding the Rankings and On-page Optimization in the seomoz Campaign Manager.
I have setup a website url for examle: www.keyword.com
After that created a list of all the target Keywords, that I want to reach within my Website: keyword-a, keyword-b, keyword-c and so on...
Then I did a On-Page Analysis for all the urls with the specific keywords.
keyword-a: www.keyword.com/keyword-a/ keyword-b: www.keyword.com/keyword-b/ keyword-c: www.keyword.com/keyword-c/ and so on...
Most of the urls got the A grade.
Now after the Website hast launched and got crawled, I have a problem with the Rankings and the On-page Optimization.
The Rankings for my Keywords and also the Grades at the On-page Optimization are only shown for my Start/Homepage: www.keyword.com NOT for the urls that are specific for a Keyword for example: www.keyword.com/keyword-a/
Also the Grades are shown for the Keywords but again only in combination with my Start/Homepage www.keyword.com NOT for www.keyword.com/keyword-a/
What is the problem?
Bye, Alex

Hi Alex,
These awesome guys are right. The SEOmoz PRO platform automatically runs an on-page report for any of your managed keywords that shows up in the top 50 of your chosen search engine, for the URL that is displayed in search results. This is not necessarily the page you tried to optimize for.
So, if your homepage is ranking for "keyword a" instead of homepage.com/keyword-a, SEOmoz will run a report for your homepage instead.
The good news is, you can set the report to run for any keyword/URL combination you like. The instructions are here, about 1/2 down the page...
http://www.seomoz.org/help/on-page-reports
Now, the advanced SEO question is... why is your homepage ranking above your optimized page? Not sure I can answer that one here.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your SEO!

Using OSE http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/, you can view each of your page metrics. (Page Authority, and links)
You may have optimized the pages for certain keywords, but there are many more metrics that determine which pages will rank better in serps. And usually your strongest page will always be your home page.

Alex It sounds like the homepage URL or whatever URL you are seeing in SEOmoz ranking reports is the one that is ranking in the SERPS and that's how SEOmoz does the grading of pairing that search term with that URL. I would advise you to look at this article from Rand on this topic - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions

On Page Grading Not Working
I am not getting any results in on page grading. When I click on add keywords a list of keywords appears that I have previously entered. They have tick boxes next to them and you can filter them but SEO moz is not automtically creating grade reports? Any ideas? Obviously I've set it up wrong somehow.

Google shutting down Rank Tracking Software? - Raven and AHREFS close down ranking results.
Hi, I was wondering if other people had noticed the (very sudden) closing down of the ranking tools for both Raven and Ahrefs - both of which were major parts of their software. Given the sudden and synced timing my guess is that Google is throwing its weight around and banking on the doors of companies offering ranking software with the threat of a fat lawsuite! What is everyone else using for their rank checking ? Will this impact SEOMOZ ranking results ?

Rank tracker accuracy
Hi there, When using Rank Tracker tool from Research Tools of SEOmoz and Google Ad preview and Diagnosis tool I get 2 very different results for the ranking of the same keyword. On the Rank Tracker my website is ranked at position 28 on Google US. As I have a Google adwords account, I use their Ad Preview and Diagnosis in selecting Google.com and United States as location for the same keyword. My website comes at position 6 in the list of organic results. Which one is accurate ? Thank you in advance.

Too Many On-Page Links: Crawl Diag vs On-Page
I've got a site I'm optimizing that has thousands of 'too many links on-page' warnings from the SeoMoz crawl diagnostic. I've been in there and realized that there are indeed, the rent is too damned high, and it's due to a header/left/footer category menu that's repeating itself. So I changed these links to NoFollow, cutting my total links by about 50 per page. I was too impatient to wait for a new crawl, so I used the On Page Reports to see if anything would come up on the Internal Link Count/External Link Count factors, and nothing did. However, the crawl (eventually) came back with the same warning. I looked at the link Count in the crawl details, and realized that it's basically counting every single '<a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p=""></a> <a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p="">1. Is no-follow a valid strategy to reduce link count for a page? (Obviously not for SeoMoz crawler, but for Google)</a> <a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p="">2. What metric does the On-Page Report use to determine if there are too many Internal/External links? Apologies if this has been asked, the search didn't seem to come up with anything specific to this.</a>

Duplicate page error from SEOmoz
SEOmoz's Crawl Diagnostics is complaining about a duplicate page error. I'm trying to use a rel=canonical but maybe I'm not doing it right. This page is the original, definitive version of the content: https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/sent-2011-10-01 This page is an alias that points to it (each month the alias is changed to point to the then current issue): https://www.borntosell.com/covered-call-newsletter/latest-issue The alias page above contains this tag (which is also updated each month when a new issue comes out) in the section: Is that not correct? Is the https (vs http) messing something up? Thanks!
