Status Errors generated from xml site map

I just ran a crawl test on our site and I'm seeing a lot of 404 errors that are referredt from the xml sitemap.. Anyone know how to fix it?

If it is automatically generated, then you should bring this up to your Dev team and have them investigate. One of the biggest issues I see is auto generating sitemaps daily.

Thanks for the tips. The idea of different sitemaps is a good one... I know our file is automatically generated so that's why I'm a but confused.

If you have ftp access to the site, you should be able to download the xml sitemap and edit it in a text editor program.
Since you have several bad links, I would probably delete them all and create a new one based on your current website. (And if it is a large site, you can have multiple xml sitemaps to keep everything organized and better for you to monitor and track)
There are some great tools out there that will automatically create your sitemaps for you.

I guess I was asking how to fix the sitemap. I'm a newbie at this so learning by fire.. Thanks for the Webmaster Tools reco... I'll check it out.

I must not be understanding your question, since my answer would be fix your XML Sitemap? Google Webmaster Tools has a tool that allows you to validate your sitemap.

How do I mprove site visibility and keyword ranking for new product site
Hi, Sorry if this is a ridiculous post as I am really new to SEO, but I haven't had this problem with other sites! We had a website www.r-dna.co.uk that was never promoted or used very much as it was early days in the product lifecycle. The product (is called R-DNA or Remote Data Network Analysis) is now live so we re-branded and re-launched the site - it has now been live since the beginning of September but we still only have 0.35% visibility and very little ranking in our keywords. We are also using Google Adwords to try and generate business and have registered with numerous online business directories. I have been blogging to update content, tweeting and updating our facebook page, but we still aren't getting the traffic or visibility increases that we have experienced with our other sites. The MOZ site crawl shows 5 medium priority issues (duplicate title page & missing meta description tag), but no major issues. I know its probably fairly early days for a "new" site, but wondered if anyone could advise if there is anything wrong which would explain our lack of visibility.

New pages on my web site
I have created web sites that appear somewhere on Google in hardly any time at all, but I appear to have forgotten something or things are different for pages added recently to an existing website. I have added a page on a particular subject, optimized it using on page grader, so that I get an A, and a check mark for everything except H1 tags and rel=canonical which my web hosting provider does not support. I do have a check mark for accessible to search engines The page has the format http://www.domain.com/specific-keyword It is in the menu, so should have internal links to it, as I understand it. I have created a new site map, and submitted it in webmaster tools. Interestingly it says that of the 96 pages only 76 were indexed is this a clue? and why would they not index a page I have then shared the page on google plus, facebook, tumblr, pinterest and twitter and some others In OSE it comes up as domain authority 28 page authority 1, the social media shares do show up in metrics on the right but no links internal or external are shown, they do on other pages I created in the same way. Is it just a case of waiting or is their something I do to help thank you

Rank Checker Tool Status
Hi I take it the Rank Checker tool is not working right yet as I'm getting bizarre ranks for some of my keywords. Some stating 50th when I know we're on the first page for instance, even using GA > search engine optimisation the averages for this term for instance is 11th across all countries. If this is the case and its still being redeveloped I'll just skip the tool for now Cheers David

Looking to Hire an SEO Expert for Travel Site
Hello Everyone, I hope this is OK to post here. I run a travel website and we operate tours abroad. We are slowly expanding after nearly 10 years in the field. I started the company from scratch and currently do my own website design and SEO work. However, over the last couple of years I've lost the SEO connection due to being so darn busy. I started account here with SEO Moz in order to get the ball rolling again. We continually rank high for keywords, publish superb content by great writers, and overall are doing fine. I would just like to ensure this keeps happening and that we have an expert on board to help us in sustainable organic SEO practices. What I'd like to do is hire an SEO expert to help with our site. It might be part time (10 or so hours per week, perhaps?) Anyhow, I would like if this person used SeoMoz and really had their fingers on the pulse of the SEO world. I want all white-hat SEO, help with page optimization, internal link structure, and help getting quality external links. I know that over optimization is something that is now on the forefront of SEO work, so of course keeping this in mind helps. I would like to be kept up to date (perhaps weekly overviews of data and how we are doing) and am willing to make changes as quickly as needed on the site. I would like to see how we rank with competitors and what we need to do to stay on top - for the long term (no short sighted decisions). I want to learn as we progress, not because I want to do the SEO work myself, I just enjoy knowing what is going on. I will not micromanage. I am too busy for that : ) I am not sure what amount SEO experts are paid, but I have a slightly flexible budget. I really want someone will communicate when needed and is thorough in their responses. Attention to detail is a must. I would prefer an SEO expert located in the US but who also knows how to access / think about markets abroad (Canada/UK/Australia). I suppose we can discuss pay once I have a shortlisted group. I am looking to hire and work with someone starting pretty much immediately (even in May). For starters, I suppose our budget might be $500 to $1500 per month. For the first month or so, we might offer payment on a stipend basis just so we can ensure whoever is hired is the perfect fit. Wordpress Plugin Causing Mobile Switcher 404 Errors
Hi All, Has anyone seen this 404 error before? I installed a wordpress plugin that would allow users to switch between a mobile and desktop theme. This was about 6 months ago and I thought nothing of it. Since I am new to SeoMoz, I have become aware of this lovely problem. After setting up my campaign, I now have 1600 something 404 errors due to this plugin. It looks like this plugin creates 4 to 5 links for each one of my posts and they all return up as a 404 error. Example: http://frogfanreport.com/football/page/36/ or http://frogfanreport.com/football/page/36/?wpmp_switcher=desktop I just noticed this morning in Google Webmaster tools that the errors are starting to show up there. Has anyone seen this? Or know if this is a problem and what to do? zach

BOTW links not recognized by Open Site Explorer
Hi there, I was wondering if I buy a submission to the Best of the Web directory (waiting for the new directory list promised by the seomoz team 🙂 ) but when I get to the category on BOTW website that will fit for my website, I took some links already there and put them on open site explorer to see their value, I had the surprise they are not even recognized... So I am still wondering if it is worth or not... voilà , if anybody knows if this directory still has value...
