Are "Content Farms" still good for backlinking in articles?
-
Out of morbid curiosity, are "Content Farms" still a good source to use for backlinking within articles that you share? I have yet to see some results to base an answer off of for myself.
Some co-workers are wanting to utilize sites like Suite101, ArticlesBase, etc for sharing articles and gaining the benefit of getting some backlinks from these sites. Is this still a good tactic to utilize? My research is telling me no since the Panda Update...
Anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks!

Appreciate the response. I couldn't agree more with focusing time and resources on the site itself and other quality backlinks. I really just needed some reassurance so I can focus our attention on what is more important.
As mentioned, this question arises from a co-worker (who doesn't understand SEO) doing some research and reading a forum response from last fall about using these "content farm" sites... Initially, I told him that it was a waste of time, but everyone seems to panic when they find a new median source to use without consulting me or doing the research.

Avoid the sites that got hit with the Google stick. You will spend waste time chasing your tail for nil / minimal gains.

Andy

I would have to agree with you there. Most of these content farms have been dropped by google. You can waste alot of time writing pages when in my opinion, time is better spend optimising the content and quality of your own page and perhaps focus on getting back links from higher quality sites.

Should I Use a Backlink Plugin
One of my clients recently asked me if he should use a Wordpress plugin to create backlinks to his website. He mentioned WP-Syndicator as an example. I just redesigned his website and I'd like to ensure that he gets a bit more traffic than he was before. Should I suggest that he purchase/use a Wordpress backlink plugin? If so does anyone know which is the best one? Not sure if it's necessary, but here is the website I'm referring to http://intouchhome.com

SeoMoz duplicate content
Hi all, There's a lot of controversy around duplicated content. If you google "The New SEO Process (Quit Being Kanye)" you'll get tones of results with a copied content from the original article. How does google manages this? (duplicated or not) Is this good for the original content/website? Thank you Cornel

Is Buying Links a good idea???
Hello Everyone, I want to know, what is the search engine's preference when it comes to links that have been bought. I observed that quite a few the good local directory listings (with good mozrank and moz trust etc) offer one to be listed for a yearly or lifetime price. Does Google frown upon these type of links too? regards, Talha
