Increasing Domain Authority scores
-
Ok, a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' type question this... Looking for the opinions of wiser users than myself in trying to work out how long is a realistic target for getting my domain authority somewhere near that of my competitors. I have been tracking my domain and three competitors in the campaign tool for a few months and they seem to average about 0.5 increase a month in their DA - they are averaging around 65 DA each. My site is currently DA 32, has increased from 21 in 5 months. Is this a decent rate of increase? How long would people expect it to take to increase a domain by 10, 20 etc? I know there are too many variables in the world of seo for a complete 'do this and this will happen' answer, but it's good to have a DA goal to work to, it acts as a good motivator for staff, especially when you begin to close in on competitors. Thanks, Carl

Great analogy!!

We focus on numbers such as traffic, conversions and sales. Why that instead of domain authority? Because we have heard the story about smart mice stealing tons of peanuts from elephants.
We will never match the domain authority of our competitors - because they are elephants. We accept our role as mice and work hard to hone our peanut stealing skills. Instead of watching DA, we scope the landscape looking for untended peanuts that we can quickly steal. This places our focus very close to the ultimate goal of our business - which is increasing our profits. It also puts our focus on the sales process that includes enticing the searcher into our site with a sexy title tag, guiding or luring him into a sales page, enticing him to put things in the cart and doing the math that links quantity, price and profit.
It is an interesting puzzle that allows us to change something on the site and quickly see if the peanuts arrive. The numbers are real and meaningful.
And... we really wouldn't want to become an elephant... because its much more fun being a mouse.

Perplexed - Errors increasing, moz rank dropping, conflicting data from other sources. Please Help.
Hi there, I'm in a bit of a bind and could seriously do with some help. For the past month I've been working with a client to resolve errors onsite. In that period my moz rank has plummeted and my errors (dupe title & content) have increased dramatically. The correlation makes sense, the increase - not so much. Here's why, screaming frog is reporting that the majority of duplicate titles have been removed or dealt with. I've also got the assurance of the developer that the suggested changes are being implemented. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the CMS - umbraco - and this is the first time I'm working with this particular developer, so I'm not sure how to gauge progress without using moz tools. So, here are my immediate questions: 1. Why would I get different results from Screaming Frog and Rogerbot? 2. Has anyone here been in a similar situation and could they recommend areas to watch for errors creeping in? 3. Is there a way of identifying which errors have occurred when? Narrowing it down to the week each error occurred would be good enough. 4. Is anybody aware of any inherent SEO flaws in umbraco or common SEO mistakes made using the CMS? 5. is there anything I could provide you with to help you help me? 6. Do you have a suggestion? I'm pretty stuck. Thanks in advance.

Confused - SEOMoz Reporting On Different Domains?
I wasn't sure which report to set up on my domain, so I set up 2 different ones which now appear like this in the Dashboard under the Campaigns section: *mysite.com www.mysite.com I want to delete the wrong report, but I noticed that they produce two slightly different report results which is interesting. My domain does not have any subdomains - which report should I delete?

Competitive Domain Analysis.. Can anyone explain this
As you can see from the following 3 images below that 3 out of 4 companies have declined in Domain Authority however one has managed to actually increase and stay up. Can anyone explain how this may be for the company that has stayed up has lost total external followed link and has only increased linking C-block domains by 1 uLTyDWz,QvBCoka,xT1rsod#2 uLTyDWz,QvBCoka,xT1rsod#1 uLTyDWz,QvBCoka,xT1rsod#0

How to handle 2 domains pointing to the same server.
My client has 2 domains which point to the same sever. eg a.com and b.com both point to the same place. For now a.com has better seo but the client wants to switch to using b.com more. Im guessing 301 redirects will not work in this case. How would I handle this? If i'm forced to manage both domains, what is the best practice for monitoring in seomoz pro. Should i set up a.com as a competitor?
