Wix.com Website Builder Html5 and SEO, what is your opinion
-
I'm planing to built a multilanguage website using a website builder. After reading websitetooltester.com reviews I came to the conclusion, wix.com should be the website builder I need.
My first reason are the templates and there multilanguage options.
But there is one thing, ready the review they mention:
''This is a bit technical; you can find the short version below.
Wix is using the “single page pattern” meaning that the complete website code is essentially on one page. This works well for website visitors but not necessarily for Google as contents will be shown dynamically using Javascript and DOM manipulation.
To solve this, Google supports something called ‘escaped fragments’ (or ugly URLs). With regards to Wix, it means that URLs will end like this: “#!wixseo|cqh1”. Google replaces the “#!” by “?escaped_fragment=” and receives only a minimal text-only page without Javascript. And this works well for Google. Try it here:
http://www.html5-websitebuilder.com/?escaped_fragment=cqh1The official page ID is “cqh1” and not “wixseo”. But as the URL contains both IDs, the visitor can even see a description that’s readable by humans (and that’s important for SEO). You may have seen URLs containing “#!” already if you are a Twitter user.''
Should I worry about Google indexing all the pages?
Is this website builder SEO frendly?
Thank you for your help and time,
BigBlaze

I would like to point out that you need to know the other side of story as well.
I claim and back it up that it is SEO friendly, a good 75% there. missing 25%.
See this thread and this thread and ESPECIALLY read the comments sections
wix has a public relations and communcations problem, and minor SEO/dev issues which are basically expected to be resolved at some point. they HAVE THE ESSENTIALS in place quite solidly for SEO.

No, that's not SEO friendly. They say it is - if you look at the source code on one of their sites, you'll see this in the comments:
Using Hashbang (this thing in the URL: #! ) causes issues down the road - here's two decent arguments against using it:
- http://isolani.co.uk/blog/javascript/BreakingTheWebWithHashBangs
So, the only way for me to answer your questions is to say that I cannot imagine a situation where I would choose to use this for one of my own sites or ever recommend that a client used it.
As a sidenote - the wix.com pages take forever to load - not a good sign when looking for a website platform.

Why will a Page not rank or improve on a website?
My website is performing well, but I have a couple of popular Brand pages that no matter what I do will not rank organically, they are being indexed, but will just not perform or improve. The rest of the pages throughout the website all seem to be fine, can anyone advise if they have experienced a similar problem or advise why this would happen or even suggest what I should do to fix the problem, we have even gone as far to create a new page and delete the old one, and it still hasn't worked. I have used various tools to test the page and variations of search terms and although it is appearing in Google it is not ranked, although it is ranking and visible in Yahoo and Bing. Any help and advise would be appreciated. Jacqui

Google Authorship for SEO Content Writers
I am interested to know the best way to go about about Google authorship on blog articles written for a client. For example is it a bad idea for an SEO content writer to publish articles under their own identity, what are the potential footprint downsides to this?

SEO for luxury brands!?
Hi all, It is widely known fact that you will be a bit in trouble if you will need to do SEO for luxury brand that is not willing to sacrifice design, layout etc. for SEO purposes. So basically - there is no content to optimize and there is almost no keywords to rank! 😉 Just wondering - how would be the best to approach such kind of terrible situation? Regards, Jungle

301 redirect www.brandname.com to www.brandname-keyword.com
It seems I've been reading about 301 for hours now, but I still didn't find an answer to my question, so I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm starting a new webshop which is relaunching a semi known brand within its specific niche, say kids toys. Now my question is - since the brand name is relatively known and it is only 5 letters short, the website will be www.xxxxx.com. However the brand name itself doesn't say anything about the products we sell, so I was thinking to buy www.xxxxx-toys.com and 301 redirect www.xxxxx.com to this new site, but still use the shorter version in all marketing material since it's a lot easier to type and remember. Apparently Google doesn't give extra juice to sites with keywords in the domain name anymore (?) but it would still say something about site to new customers unaware of the brand name. Any advice? 🙂

Domain.com and www.domain.com
I recently changed the settings in Google Webmaster Tools so that domain.com and www.domain.com are the same. Several quick questions. About how long will it take for Google to list www.domain.com and stop listing domain.com? The .htaccess file uses a 301 to redirect all domain.com paths.to www.domain.com paths. Now that Google has been informed these two are the same, are the 301 rules to add www necessary? The default page is index.php. so domain.com gets 301 to www.domain.com gets 301 to www.domain.com/index.php. Is this the correct way to do things? Are there SEO consultants who will help on small projects such assist on issues like this? Best,

Too many On-Page Links on a WP based Website
Hi, I've already browsed through various of the Q&As on the "too many On-Page links" issue, but I would really need some advice concerning a WP Site with a dropdown navigation. As outlined in the on-page report, every site has about 180 outgoing links, which pretty much is the number of site featured in the navigation. Even though the 100 link limit is somewhat outdated I'm still worried about the distribution of linkjuice from the starting page and how Google perceives the importance of the various pages. Would it make sense to adapt the structure of the navigation, so that the starting page only links to the 5 category pages and the category pages only link to the detail pages they contain? The site has good rankings for several pages and I assume that Google can tell that the large number of links is caused by the navigation. But with every page having appr. 180 links it may be difficult for Google to tell, which of those pages are the most important regarding internal link structure... Looking foward to your opinion and insights! Cheers, Chris
