Advanced segements Google Analytics
-
Hi guys,
I was to hasty last time marking the given question as answered. So i would like to ask another question on the subject.
My original question was how to get a pdf report of 10 specific keywords with information about visits, pages per view. avg, visit time, new visitors and bounce rate.
The answer was to create an advanced segment with "or operators" and adding all keywords on an exact match basis. I did this but it still gives me a list of more then 500 keywords in traffic sources organic view. Next to that i get different visitor numbers for some keywords where it says 40 at the normal segments (all visits) but gives me 0 when i turn on the advanced segment.
I've been clicking and changing things for a long time until i got almost dizzy.
Could someone plz help?

They dissapear when i refresh indeed, but this does not work in a pdf. The pdf report gets the full list. I just guess this is a bug and they still need to fix some things.

I can reproduce this by:
1. Selecting both the custom segment with regex filters and the standard 'all visits segment'.
2. Turning off the all visits segment.
Now I end up with all words being empty like your screenshot. However, when I refresh the page they are gone.
I'd say just click around in your reports for a while and see if the problem goes away automatically.
Good luck!

The regex statement actually gives good results but the problem is that is shows me the words that give "true" on the regex, but it also shows the words that have "false" but then it just displays "0" at every dimension. I've added a screenshot again to make this more clear.

I will try the regex filters. But i included the image of my actual segment.

It is hard to say what you did wrong without actually seeing the segment filter. However, you might want to have a look at the type of match you used. E.g. If you use 'contains' 'my query' it will also match 'my query with longtail'. Also, offcourse you need to make sure the segment is turned on (use the checkbox).
If you don't get it to work you might want to use just one include regex statement like so:
(^query 1$)|(^query 2$)|(^query 3$)....
Good luck... If you don't get to work you might want to post a screenshot of your current filter settings

How is Google Analytics defining page depth?
We run two websites and as part of our KPIs we are treating those who visit 3 or more pages of our website as a client served. As a digital team we are not convinced that this is the best metric to use as the improvements we are making to the sites mean that people are able to find the information quicker. Additionally other organisations including forums etc link to us so those users will get the info they need in one click. What I would like to know is how Google calculates page depth in GA. Are they treating the landing page as ground zero and then when users clicks a link they go one page deep? Or is the landing page, page depth 1 . Is page depth a measure of how many clicks a user needs to find their information?

Google Analytics and DNS change
Our new alumni application is going be tested at domain uva.imodules.com . We are going to collect traffic data with a Google analytics account number UA-884652-XX. So going to uva.imodules.com/myPage.html would send its data to Google Analytics with that account number. Then when it is ready for production we are going to just change the domain name of the application and switch the DNS over to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu . So going to dardencommunity.darden.virginia.edu /myPage.html would send its data to Google Analtics with that SAME account number. Aside from having the testing domain data in the same profile are there any other issues/problems we may run into?

Get Stats on Search Box Usage, Using Google Analytics?
Let me preface this by first saying I am NOT using the Google Adsense Search feature. The question I am asking is pertaining to the standard search box that comes already coded in most .php blogs. In the Google Analytics, is there a way to tell how many people are searching using the search box? I've looked through the navigation and pathway options in analytics and I don't seem to see anything that definitively points to the number of people using the search box but, perhaps, I am overlooking it. Any insight?
