Redirecting a Parked Domain
-
A client's friend has had a parked domain for over 11 years. He has done nothing with it but throw a couple of ads on it. It has some traffic, most likely from typos: the domain domain is somewhat similar to a leading search engine.
But the parked domain has no content, no links, no DA.
I can't see the benefit of the redirect. My client might get a little traffic -- but the parked domain has nothing to do with his niche.
Am I missing something? Is there any risk involved in the redirect (beyond unqualified traffic that isn't valuable?)
-
I'm vote with SCW - no value whatsoever. Risk would be that the Search Engines might decide the totally unrelated domain name pointing to his site looks spammy. Assuming the parked domain is even indexed, given it likely has no inbound links.
Given that there is absolutely no value to redirecting it, I certainly wouldn't take the chance if it were mine.

I can't see the benefit either. As you know, the only traffic would be be from a direct type-in (assuming it's a keyword rich domain). Given that there is no content, there is likely little risk of getting dinged for duplicate content. Could be your client simply does not want a competitor to register the domain?

301 Redirects - Large .htaccess file question

We need to individually 301 each page because the are sitting at root level now: mysite.com/page.com We want to move them to: mysite.com/folder/page.html etc I dont think redirect match can works because of the different files names and folders they are being moved in to. Will 5000 entries in .htacess slow site loading? Any other suggestions how to handle?

SEO for multilingual and multiregional site seperated with subdirectories on same domain
Hi all, I am working on a website that is multilingual and multiregional.
On-Page Optimization | | helgeolaussen
The site is on a single TDL where the countries are seperated with subdirectories.
I am only working with SEO for one country, so just one of the subdirectories.
Do you guys have any tips on important stuff to remember when doing SEO for this site?
Any pros or cons for this? Ty0 -

Title tag best practices when domain and brand are the same
I know the old standard for title tag optimization is to use your brand name in the title for a multitude of reasons, all of which are indisputable The most important reason being any strength and awareness can aid in click-thru. But does this hold true for exact match domains? Considering the way a search result is displayed, any awareness and strength derived from using the brand in the title is automatically included in the search result of an exact match domain without having to sacrifice valuable characters in the title. The organic value (or value beyond simply seeing the brand displayed and nothing else) can't have that much of an impact, can it? For Example, given the result attached, is it worth it to repeat dog.com in the title if it is already showing in the result? dog.png

Would it be bad to change the canonical URL to the most recent page that has duplicate content, or should we just 301 redirect to the new page?
Is it bad to change the canonical URL in the tag, meaning does it lose it's stats? If we add a new page that may have duplicate content, but we want that page to be indexed over the older pages, should we just change the canonical page or redirect from the original canonical page? Thanks so much! -Amy
