Im trying to help our customers by producing content that will be usefull and fun. Whicj is great for the customers but not neccisarily for seo as im unsure who would want to link to this kind of thing - any ideas?

All advice is good advice at this stage in the game for us so thank you!

I'm sorry for his but I'll try to be honest.
It looks more like a price-list than an infographic.
Try to add more focus on the fun/info part, create a story about it.
I think the topic can be fun enough to be shared around if you put some time into it..

You made the infographic on a subject that doesnt interest the masses so you will have a hard time getting this picked up. Also the focus of the infographic should be world record for licking stamps with a big image of a tongue licking a stamp etc- I would try more about facts about snail mail etc

I just got hammered by a Google penalty - My guess is it was was keyword stuffing anchor text...help!
Hi, I just woke up to find my website had disappeared from search results in Google relevant to my business keywords. Looking back over the past few weeks I realise I went 'keyword heavy' in a few too many back links. I am careful to avoid websites with a high spam score and have varies anchor text well in the past. However, now the website has 86% less search visibility and I am being penalised for all searches apart from my brand name. I have tried to change as many back links with the keyword in question as I can but some links I can't change. My questions: Will this penalty be for good? What else can I do to rectify the situation?

Will links from startup/tech blogs help a site rank for *money* keywords?
If a startup has a tech blog (say, domain.com/tech) and a startup journey blog (on domain.com/journey — think groovehq.com/blog), will garnering high PA/DA links to those pages help the root domain rank for keywords related to the startup's services? For example, continuing the Groove example, will quality links to their aforementioned startup blog help them rank the homepage for Online Help Desk Software? Even when those links are from non-helpdesk content on non-helpdesk sites? My theory is that links from high DA sites won't be a bad thing — as long as they're not from spammy pages and done naturally. In some niches, where it's hard to get organic product-related links, this might be a worthwhile strategy. Am I right? Or sadly misguided...? 🙂 EDIT: BTW. The niche I have in mind is fairly uncompetitive, and it'd be easier to garner links from the startup/tech community than the niche community itself.

Are niche directories still helpful as good links to have to help ranking in the serps?
Are niche directories still helpful as good links to have to help ranking in the serps or has Google discounted directories? The Niche directories that i would be using are not spammy at all and are quality sources of info. Thanks mozzers!

Any successes getting SEO/link vendors clean up Penguin-related problems they helped create?
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone's been able to get link vendors help clean up Penguin-related problems that they helped create? I have a client who was sold years and years of AWFUL link building work from a major and prominent SEO vendor, that we are now battling to de-toxify. There are no legal grounds for us as the ToS was watertight and the client is ultimately responsible (if naive), but has anyone been successful in getting vendors to cooperate with cleanups on ethical grounds? What's the best way to play that with a major vendor, I'm assuming they wouldn't want to be outed. Cheers all, Matt

I need help finding a link building professional
I understand that some may respond to this question advising that we should concentrate on building good quality content, and eventually the links will come. And I do agree. The problem is that while we are implementing a content strategy and we're absolutely focused on creating unique, quality content for our audience, we're also a brand new business with a current grand total of (wait for it...) - 4 back-links! So while we're devoting our efforts to create the most engaging content we can, we need to find someone that can help us build our back-link profile and help to promote our brand and content in the most legitimate way possible. Obviously typing "SEO" into Google is not necessarily the most effective way to find the right person for the job and I'm a bit apprehensive about posting ads on eLance, oDesk, etc Does anyone have any idea how we can find someone smart and highly experienced that understands the importance of doing this right? We are Australian based but they don't have to be local. Thanks in advance. Stu

Help me strategize!
Hoping for some guidance here. I am trying to place anywhere on page 1 in google organic search for my targeted term "Philadelphia wedding photographers." My blog posts rank very well for their own keywords/long-tails, but I'm having trouble ranking my homepage for my main aforementioned keyword. The frustrating part is that my SEOmoz domain/page authority should easily place me near the top of page 1, but instead I'm at the top of page 3 (down from page 2 last week). Bartlett Pair Photography Potential issues that I am aware of: #1 backlink anchor text is non-branded (branded is 2nd highest..I am working to fix this over time) Homepage itself is bare content due to nature of photography niche (though, my title tag and header focus on keyword and brand). I'm sure everyone will recommend that I increase homepage content, but virtually all competitors have a similar lack of homepage content so I don't understand how I rank so low given my page/domain authority. I've received 1 unnatural link notice from Google on March 22, 2012, but this is the only time, and really had no visible impact on my traffic. I have no local listing. I will remedy this in about 2 months when I have a physical location. Regardless, organic (non-local) listings are important to me because my physical location is 30 minutes outside city center. Is there a specific way that my website and Facebook page need to be connected in order to receive social graph juice? Currently, my website has some social plugins to like/share/tweet my content...and my FB page has a link to my website in the About section. (They also both use the same brand name). Most of my social activity (likes/shares) is directly on my Facebook fan page, and not on my website. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have! I'm hoping that someone is able to point out a strategy other than 1) more (branded) backlinks and 2) more homepage content!
