Odd 404 Errors in WP That I cannot find the origin

Hello Everyone,

I have a really odd error that I cannot figure out how to fix. I keep getting a 404 error (through google webmaster tools, and SEOmoz) at this url http://www.cio-tech.com/cios-oracle-optimization-results-roi-justification-save-20m-over-5-years/www.SynSynAck.com...

I am not even too sure how this link originated because the first part is a URL to a blog post, and the second is another website that I have.

I'd appreciate any help on the matter.

Once I popped on the page, I saw the www.syn.... link. After that I just hovered my mouse near it and saw the URL and where your 404 error was.

What I usually do is view page source if I get a 404 error, since it tells you what the error is.

That fixed it, there was some odd issue with a plugin I was using "CKE Editor" that it wouldn't let me type in the link properly, super odd.

For future reference, how did you find the page where the actual anchor was placed?

Now that hyperlink is anchored as www.SynSynAck.com, but the actual URL is

http://www.cio-tech.com/cios-oracle-optimization-results-roi-justification-save-20m-over-5-years/www.SynSynAck.com

Go back into the post, and edit the URL/Hyperlink to just www.synsynack.com

And that should do it.

In your SEOmoz report you are able to download all errors as a CSV file. The final column of this file will tell you the referring page of your 404. That should allow you to identify the culprit!

422 vs 404 Status Codes

We work with an automotive industry platform provider and whenever a vehicle is removed from inventory, a 404 error is returned. Being that inventory moves so quickly, we have a host of 404 errors in search console. The fix that the platform provider proposed was to return a 422 status code vs a 404. I'm not familiar with how a 422 may impact our optimization efforts. Is this a good approach, since there is no scalable way to 301 redirect all of those dead inventory pages.

Https and 404 code that goes into htaccess

The 404 error code we put into htaccess files for our websites does not work correctly for our https site. We recently changed one of our http sites to https. When we went to create a 404.html page for it by creating an htaccess folder with the 404 error code in it, once we uploaded the file all of our webpages were displaying incorrectly, as if the css was not attached. The 404 code we used works successfully for our other 404.html pages for our other sites (www.telfordinc.com/404.html). However, it does not work for the https site. How to fix errors and warnings on a wordpress.com hosted site ?

Hello Mozers, I've 18 4xx errors ,812 duplicate page content and 412 duplicate page titles with about 605 too many links warning and about 4900 notices.. My website is hosted on wordpress.com and I just do not understand how do i fix these errors . To add on, last week the errors were lesser by 150 !! How do I get these issues fixed ? Title errors for pages behind a login

On our website we have content which is located behind a members login. the SEOMoz crawl report has returned these pages with a "no title" error against them. It appears that these pages are being crawled until the website prompts it to login. I can only presume that it follows the url but doesn't have an opportunity to crawl the meta data. what is the solution for these pages? 401, so that the bots know these pages are behind a login? do we implement anything to ensure "no index", "no follow"? I searched the T'interwebs and couldn't find anything conclusive on this issue.

Nginx 403 and 503 errors

I have a client with a website that is hosted on a shared webserver running on an Nginx server. When I started working on the website a few months ago I found the server was throwing 100s of 403s and 503s and at one point googlebot couldn't access robots.txt. Needless to say this didn't help rankings! Now the web hosting company has partially resolved the errors by switching to a new server and I'm now just seeing intermittent spikes in Webmaster Tools of 30 to 70 403 ad 503 errors. My questions: Am I right in saying there should (pretty much) be no such errors (for pages that we make public and crawlable). Having already asked the web hosting company to look in to this. Any advice on specifically what I should be asking them to look at on the server? If this doesn't work out, does anyone having a recommendation for a reliable web hosting company in the U.S. for a lead generation website with over 20,000 pages and currently 500 to 1000 visits per day? 403 forbidden error website

Hi Mozzers, I got a question about new website from a new costumer http://www.eindexamensite.nl/. There is a 403 forbidden error on it, and I can't find what the problem is. I have checked on: http://gsitecrawler.com/tools/Server-Status.aspx

Duplicate content error - same URL

Hi, One of my sites is reporting a duplicate content and page title error. But it is the same page? And the home page at that. The only difference in the error report is a trailing slash. www.{mysite}.co.uk www.{mysite}.co.uk/ Is this an easy htaccess fix? Many thanks TT
