Wordpress.com to self hosted transfer?

How do you transfer a wordpress.com blog to a self hosted domain. The domain name is purchased through GoDaddy and will be hosted through GoDaddy.

Open mouth - insert foot. Sorry- that's what I get for cruising the forum too late at night without the brain fully engaged. You're right on. I moved WP sites from Godaddy to Hostgator, etc., not from wordpress.com.

Hi Joel,
I just used a really helpful plugin called Backup Buddy (I'm not an affiliate):
http://pluginbuddy.com/purchase/backupbuddy/
I used it to move two different wordpress sites. It worked really well.
By the way, my experience hosting WP sites on Godaddy has not been great- page load speeds are awful, even with a content delivery network (I use MaxCDN).

A 301 redirect is available as an upgrade. $12 per year.

You'll need it if you want to ensure your site continues ranking after you switch to a new self hosted domain.
Before you do the 301, you need to do a Tools > Export on the old site and then Tools > Import on the new site and be sure to tick download attachments.

Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic. Help getting a Wordpress.com site to rank
Hi all, I have a blog for my site, but it hasn't been integrated into our site yet (that will happen in the next few months when we do some site changes). For now, it sits on a Wordpress.com site, and links from my website. I post a couple times a week, have social media linked to it, and feed posts to aggregators regularly. I also comment and like other Wordpress.com sites, but it just isn't ranking. Do I just need to stay persistent? It's been up for a month now, but still only getting a few hits a day. Any advice?

Cosmo feature: any difference between linking a phrase or .com?
I just had an article posted on Cosmopolitan.com to my site, www.100redflags.com. My request to them was that they link specifically the phrase "100 Red Flags" to http://100redflags.com, but they actually said "go to 100redflags.com" - with 100redflags.com hyperlinked. My question: If I'm trying to build rank with the term "red flags", or at least "100 red flags", is the way that they did it helping me at all? If it will help me more to have them link the phrase "100 Red Flags", does it matter whether they do that today when traffic is high, or tomorrow when traffic is lower? Wordpress Duplicate Pages/ URL's - Help !
Hi guys, I have been running SEOMoz for just over a month and slowly cleaning up one of my Wordpress Blogs. While going through the crawl reports I have noticed that I have duplicate pages showing on the crawl. For example, the main post would be; www.xxxxx.com/blog/post-title Then I see another URL which would be; **www.xxxx.com/blog/page/59 ** When I click on either URL it goes back to the actual post title URL. What's with these page URL's ? Isn't these two URL's showing duplicate content to the search engines ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

H1 tag in Blank in Wordpress website
Good evening, I have noticed using some h1 checkers, that my primary h1 tag is blank. I manually introduced an h1 with my main keywords, but system recognises as 2 different h1 tags, and therefore it could be harmful for my SEO purposes. I created my wordpress website using Artisteer.
