What do you consider a low authority link directory
-
Dear All,
I would like to weed out the low authority link directories that harm my site.
Can someone explain me how you determine a low authority link directory?
Do you look at "page auth." and "domain auth"?
And do you consider all the links pointing to your site with a "page auth." and "domain auth" lower then - let's say 40 - as a low authority link directory?
Thank you for your answers in advance!
Regards,
Thomas

If you used software to submit those links and they were accepted, then I can say with almost 100% certainty that 100% of those links are weak and low quality and are probably sending you "negative vibes" as we say here in the caribbean.
Nowadays, there's less than a dozen (maybe a handful) of 'general directories' that you can get your site listed on that are within Google's guidelines on paid and editorial links.

@ Klarke and Billy Jefferson
Thank you for your answers.
The problem is that I have a site where a lot of directories submissions are made in the past.
With the help of software of submission agency...(I know I shouldn't have done that)
Now I'm trying to weed out the weak directories! All I have is open site explorer and a lot of data!
The question is: Based on this report; How do I determine the weak (low auth.) directories based on statistics?
Thank you!

If it is a directory I don't think I will ever get actual traffic FROM the directory then I don't bother with it. If the site or domain says anything about SEO or Links then I don't bother with it. If I can't easily find in in Google when searching for niche directories that relate to it then I don't bother with it.

How many links per week/month should a link building campaign acquire?
I am running a linkbuilding campaign for my company. I am mostly focusing on guest blogging opportunities and responding to emails from HARO. How many links would I have to acquire each week or month to be considered doing a good job over a 6 month or a year time period? Thank you,

Any benefits to having Wikipedia links now they are 'no-followed' (apart from traffic and natural link prof.)
I see that Wikipedia outbound links are all no-followed, is there any benefit (aside from the traffic) for having links here now ? For example is their co-citation and co-occurance benefits. I know there is without the links since from seeing previous Moz content about this saying Google getting good at connecting brand/s and topic mentions on a page (without any links) so appreciate Wikipedia is still good for that sort of thing. And a no-followed link is obviously good for the potential traffic. But is there any additional SEO benefit to having a no followed link on a wikipedia entry/stub too ? (aside from its contribution to your no-followed links which in turn contribute to a natural looking link profile) Cheers Dan

We have recently receive linek from one website. The site is quite very powerful for the word we try to rank, however the link is kind of wired. This is how it looks like: http://villasdiani.com/?db The webmaster of the site said that he ads (?db) on the end so as we would see on our analytics the traffic from his site.. Also the link is from footer...is this good or it does not have value

Which directories to use?
I've recently has a conversation with a colleague regarding which directories to use when link building. In her opinion we should use only the ones that are relevant and nothing else. For example if you're working on a travel website, you should only submit either to travel directories or local directories (based on the business location). In my opinion yes we should submit to these directories but then you'll reach a limit and then you need to submit to general directories that have the "travel" category, even if the business is in NY and the directory is in India, as long as it is a good directory and has the relevant category. What is your opinion about this?

"Activating" Links - Do External Links Have to Be Clicked On to Really Have Value?
I heard an SEO talk about the concept of "activating" a link - meaning that if an external link to your site exists, but google doesn't detect that it has gotten any actual clicks, they will significantly discount or ignore the value of the link. Obviously between Chrome, toolbars, and GA, google does have a lot of ways to detect whether a link has gotten clicks. What is the SEOmoz take on this issue?

Links in the Classifieds
We rent apartments. One way we use to find clients is to advertize these apartments in Classifieds. Generally, we use free ads. Sometimes, for very popular sites ( like Kijiji), we pay so our ads can be seen first. Could this be a problem with Google? Some sites send us clients, many of them never do. We keep putting ads there because of their PR. What is the worth of this kind of links? Thanks for your answers.
