Classified Sites Ranking on Page 1

How is it that Craigslist, and Backpage get a boost from google and take over 1 or more of the page one results in my niche? Ive also seen people ask a yahoo question, and answer with a link to their website? Are these just temporary boosts?

Not necessarily. Can you provide a link to Google SERP so I can answer this accurately?
Sometime (pretty often) Google will show one page but provide the rankings due to another page.For example, I have a strong "CCTV Cameras" category page and under I have a "[Specific Type of CCTV Camera] " page. The first page is strong and he will provide me with high ranks but it dosen't mean it will be show for it. Instead, due to visitor data or/and social signals, the second page may appear if it's temporarily more popular.
After it gets removed (i.e. sold out) the first page, or other trendier topic related page, will assume the position.
This scenario can be discovered by looking at 100 results (use. advance search) there sometimes you
ll find several results from the same site, side by side - where in basic search youve saw only one single result. This is a symbiotic relationship I`m talking about. The 1st and displayed result is not the "cause" for high rank, it just "riding co-tails" of other strong pages.From what you`ve described, you see some of these too ( " take over 1 or more of the page one results in my niche...") For these, if the 1st page gets removed, another will probably take its place...

So will these eventually lose position since they are just a classified post?

These are pretty "strong" domains we are talking about with enormous link profiles, tons of social signals, a lot of visits etc.. You can probably "beat them" at some niche KW, but this will take some work.
This is somewhat like competing against Wikipedia, which dominates a lot of niche KW and some major KW too...
As to your second question, permanent links will provide permanent value.

My website Moz Page Authority
My website is Best Comedy Tickets. The current homepage has a Page Authority is 41, mR : 4:53 and Domain Authority is 31. However all my sub pages are basically non existent. All the other pages on the site are a Page Authority of 1, mR : 0.00. Why is this and how do I increase this ? Are there any tips or tricks to increase subpages ? Reason of Keywords ranking up & down?

Building my Portfolio of 70 MicroNiche Sites (10-15 Pages of Content)
Hello Moz Community, I just bought 70 new domains in the past month in different niches with exact match domains, installing these sites on 2 different hostgator servers, installing all the plugins needed etc. and start publishing first 10 articles on each site. ( the keyword research was done with long tail pro and choosing the best long tails with MOZ difficulty grader that is under 40-45.) My question is the following: If I will have some of these sites that will don’t rank in Google in the next 3-6 months for the main keyword without building links…what will be the best course/method/resources I need to know about building quality backlinks and having the time to do these tasks on each website to be sure that every site will be a winner, or even 50-70% of them in both traffic & money ROI !?! I want to have a minimum of 10 sites that will make around 150$ per month because my Intention is to sell these sites on flippa for higher multiples of 15-20 monthly revenue. ( I sold my first website on flippa in September for 1650$ and is awesome. I want to repeat this success at a higher level ) Thank you ! I built niche sites since February 2012 but in terms of building backlinks to microniche sites I didn’t do too many things in the past when is about backlinking (just submitting in directories) so I ask about the experience of this community. Low Ranking Mystery
Hello fellow MOZzers..! I am fairly new to this community but have been working on my SEO skills for a while.. I have created over 20 websites for myself and various clients, and all of them are doing fairly well ranking n.1 for their targeted keywords... except 1 WEBSITE THAT IS BECOMING A ROYAL PAIN IN THE BUTT! The website is www.dancepartycentral.co.uk and this is why it's a mystery to me: The on-site SEO seems to be on point (getting an A on page-grader for desired keywords) "Dance Party" does not seem to be too much of a competitive keyword Many of the other competitors do not seem to have very professional websites (apart from 3 or 4) or that have as much targeted content for the relevant keywords I have over relevant 20 sites and industry directories for Entertainers that are linking to the site (even though not all of them are appearing on page crawls) Please keep in mind this site has been created using webs.com so I have little control over the coding I seem to only be getting a 6.5% TXT/HTML ratio even though the site is made up mostly of original content This business highly relies on organic SEO searches and as my site is not ranking in the top 50, it's become a bit of a head-scratcher for me.. if anyone is kind enough to help me shed some light on the problem and how I can resolve this, I would be eternally grateful! Links from other sites in our network
I work for a large publisher with many websites, and it's common for our biggest sites to link to smaller sites within the network. These links are follow, site-wide, anchor text-optimised footer links. I think it's obvious that these links are harmful to the smaller sites that are being linked to, but it's hard to convince others of that, particularly because the toolbar PR benefit is very obvious. Do you think it would be better to: a) Remove the links completely b) Keep the links, but make them nofollow c) Keep the links (as it's not harmful) Thanks

Moving off page blog to on page blog
Hi, I was using free wordpress blog and i have around 18-20 content on the blog. Now, we've managed to have blog on our main website which has www.mysite.com/blog extension. We did this so we could create more links on the website/ I am a little unsure how to move the blog now. Should we copy & paste the blog articles from old blog to new one and remove them from old blog? I am just not quite sure how would it effect the links. If i keep the old articles on the old blog and create new articles for the new one, it'll take me a while before i get them written. Any recommendation appreciated. Thanks

What should be the ration of inbound link between Home page and Internal pages? And also wanted to clear my doubt, suppose My website is related to Technology niche with different technologies like PHP, Java etc. Is this better idea to submit internal PHP page link in PHP related directories? Although I know that in the most of the directories have very large number of categories.

Mobile sites link strategies
