Server Vs Authority
-
Deciding on whether to go for a Sub directory or CC tld structure.
So the tradeoff would be one server location (which can affect local rankings if the server is outside the country) VS a better passing of link authority.
What factor is more important?
-
ccTLD and Sub directories both are valid but it is preferable to use subdirectory instead of ccTLD.
By the way duplicate content can be a huge issue in that case weather you go for anything ccTLD, sub directory and even the different domain.
I would highly recommend using the sub directory with a unique text in it! Or use the different language (same content under different language won’t be a problem!)
-
Thanks Rebekah,
All in the same language with very similar content. Wouldnt the duplicate content be an issue for both strategies?
-
Will the content be in a different language? If so I would recommend the sub-directory. If not, the TLD. Personal preference, Google has said you could use either - but I can see a lot of duplicate content issues if the sub-directory is in the same language.

Website URL, Robots.txt and Google Search Console (www. vs non www.)
Hi MOZ Community,
Technical SEO | | Badiuzz
I would like to request your kind assistance on domain URLs - www. VS non www. Recently, my team have moved to a new website where a 301 Redirection has been done. Original URL : https://www.example.com.my/ (with www.) New URL : https://example.com.my/ (without www.) Our current robots.txt sitemap : https://www.example.com.my/sitemap.xml (with www.)
Our Google Search Console property : https://www.example.com.my/ (with www.) Question:
1. How/Should I standardize these so that Google crawler can effectively crawl my website?
2. Do I have to change back my website URLs to (with www.) or I just need to update my robots.txt?
3. How can I update my Google Search Console property to reflect accordingly (without www.), because I cannot see the options in the dashboard.
4. Is there any to dos such as Canonicalization needed, or should I wait for Google to automatically detect and change it, especially in GSC property? Really appreciate your kind assistance. Thank you,

"nofollow" vs. "no follow"
Does anyone know if it is problematic to have a space between the "no" and the "follow"? I just discovered our CMS has been inserting a space and am trying to understand if it the reason why something that we were trying to keep from being indexed has become indexed.

Does having dots in my brand name hurt my SEO? ie: BoatU.S. vs BoatUS ?
Our official brand name has dots in it and we're wondering if having those dots will hurt our organic ranking and (or) lead to a mis-interpreted crawl by the bots..

301 vs 302
Hello everyone! I'm working with a site right now that is currently formatted as subdomain.domain.net. The old version of the site was formatted as domain.net, with domain.com and several other variants redirecting to the current format, subdomain.domain.net. All of these redirects are 302, and I'm wondering if I should have all these changed to 301. Many of our old backlinks go to the old format of domain.net and i know the juice isn't being passed through, but i was wondering if there is any reason why you may want a 302 over a 301 in this case? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

SEO: open source e-commerece vs. off the shelf
I'm trying to decide on a web development company. Both would do our CMS with Wordpress, but for the e-commerce platform one would use shopify (off the shelf) and the other would use Woo-Commerce (open source). SEO wise is there any benefit of going one way or the other? I am worried the off the shelf (shopify) would be weaker because it would be hosted on a different server than the CMS, plus I think the url structure would be less flexible through shopify (keywords would be further down url structure). Thanks, Dan

Hey guys, I was just wondering which is better to use to find the 404's effecting your site. I have been using webmaster tools and just purchased screaming frog which has given me a totally different list of 404's compared to WMT. Which do I use, or do I use both? Cheers
