Has anybody else noticed that Google has made a significant change to their SERP? There is a lot of social data reported from LinkedIn, Youtube and Facebook (includes page likes and activity) when you search by company name. Thoughts anybody?

Agree with you on protecting brand if the changes stick.
We hadn't noticed this until about 7-10 days ago and it seems like it's really taken hold within the past couple of days. The effects on the non-local search results seem pretty significant. We especially noticed in on LinkedIn pages becoming highly ranked and much more information on Facebook likes, "talking abouts" and "were here's" --- also number of YouTube results being pulled back seems much higher than normal. The shear number of social pages being ranked on non-local search results was very interesting. Appending local words to the search queries really seemed to strip out the social page rankings.

I posted mine in my comment if you would like to take a look.

I'm not sure if this is a new change; I have seen this for some time now. See the likes, talking about his and were here information is new to me. For me, I first get facebook, then linkedin, youtube and twitter. This is great when you are protecting your business brand / reputation management.

Hey Rob,
I'm not seeing # likes/tweets. Can you post a screenshot?

Thanks... we noticed a significant presence for LinkedIn company pages and also that Google is listing # of "Likes" and Page activity for Facebook. This is a big swing to social that is not tied to Google+ and if it sticks would certainly provide a path to significant brand prominence in SERPs!

Interesting, it could be a convenient way to dominate your brand.
I just tried Pepsi, got pepsi.com #1, pepsico.com #2, wikipedia #3, places (local) #4, followed by pepsi-facebook, pepsi-twitter, pepsi-foursquare
That would be great if that was your brand / company, but I think smaller business who may have the same name as another business in a different state / city (Ray's Pizza) may have some trouble, but I think Google throw localized results in those cases.
Nice catch, I hadn't noticed that.

Google+ Brand Page in Knowledge Graph
We've been unsuccessfully trying to get our brand's Google+ page listed in the Knowledge Graph for our brand. I believe that our markup on our website is correct. Can anyone advise on why we can't get this to pull up in the knowledge graph? Traffic from YouTube
Hi I've suggested a client add annotated links to the end of their YT vids to help get traffic from YT My clients video guy has suggested setting up a hidden redirect page so we can tell how many people come to the website from youtube I take it this is not necessary since traffic from YT will be easily identified by Google analytics anyway ? Cheers Dan

Facebook Ad Targeting
I am having trouble targeting to people who like specific pages. Some pages with only 13K likes will show in the 'interests' section, but others with 50K will not show. Using auto complete to find what is available: is this the only way to find the pages to advertise to? Another example, I can target the people who liked Moz, because SEOMoz.com autocompletes. But SEObook does not, so I can't advertise to the people who liked this page. How can I target people who like pages specifically, no matter how many likes they have? Thank you, Tyler

Facebook shares/likes not showing correctly
Hi guys, I've been running searches on Opensiteexplorer for our site www(dot)mobileunlocked(dot)com and am seeing Facebook shares as 21 and 0 Likes. However, we have 2857 people who have liked our page on Facebook. I'm concerned that the search engines also aren't seeing our relationship with our true number so is there anything I can do to make sure this is being picked up? Thanks.

Page Speed and Social sharing bookmarks - how to balance
I've been having some challenges on my page load times and am in process of addressing. Some of the issues are my pictures(so I'm in process of condensing), but part of the issue (according to pingdom.com) is my social sharing. I was using 1 click retweet, and when I changed this to Sexy bookmarks, it seemed to improve. But, I'm wondering 2 things: 1. Do you guys have any recos on which plugin is best to use and takes least time to load (I'm not sure if this is contraditory). My priority is G+/Tw/FB. 2. On my sexybookmarks, it's strange because visually, the plugin is not showing up correctly. Where the G+ button should be, it's invisible. Ironically it works, if I click on it, but a normal person is not going to realize it's there. Any suggestions? In case it helps, my site is TheFlooringGirl.com. I don't think the plugin shows up there, but it does show up at the bottom of all of my blog posts. Thx. I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Facebook 'SEO', Likes and Fans
I spent a bit of time this morning combing Google looking for some documentation on SEO for Facebook, specifically the value of 'likes', when liking one's status, how that effects the visibility of a given post and basically the criteria for creating whatever they deem a post to have gone 'viral'. I'm convinced there has to be some answers for my first two questions... ....somewhere. Likewise, I can appreciate if there's nothing available to answer my third question pertaining to 'viral criteria'. Nevertheless, if anyone has any resources/documentation that could provide me some insight into how FB interprets 'likes', how an increased number of 'likes' may lead to greater visibility and (more or less) the mechanics of how this interacts with the entire Facebook structure, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading, I look forward to the responses!

Facebook Like Button or Like Box
Hi, A client has a FB like button on their website but is frustrated that those "likes" are disconnected from their company FB page. It is possible that they could change their website like button, to a like box, which will then mean people are liking their FB page and give them a greater opportunity for on-going engagement through FB. However, from an SEO perspective is it better for them to attract likes & potential sharing of their website content rather than their FB content? Thanks.
