Duplicate Content on Product Pages
-
Hello I'm currently working on two sites and I had some general question's about duplicate content. For the first one each page is a different location, but the wording is identical on each; ie it says Instant Remote Support for Critical Issues, Same Day Onsite Support with a 3-4 hour response time, etc. Would I get penalized for this?
Another question i have is, we offer Antivirus support for providers ie Norton, AVG,Bit Defender etc. I was wondering if we will get penalized for having the same first paragraph with only changing the name of the virus provider on each page?
My last question is we provide services for multiple city's and towns in various states. Will I get penalized for having the same content on each page, such as towns and producuts and services we provide? Thanks.

Okay here are two links from one of the sites:
http://www.allitsupported.com/atlanta-it-support
http://www.allitsupported.com/chicago-it-support
As you can see the duplicate content is on both pages as well as all the location pages. I'm not really sure where to use the rel=cannoical tag for this site? Also we need all the duplicate content ,so im not really sure what to do in that aspect as well?
The other links are here:
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/residential/antivirus-support/agnitum/
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/residential/antivirus-support/agnitum/
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/delaware/computer-repair-delaware/
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/connecticut/computer-repair-connecticut/
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/illinois/city/computer-repair-bondville/
http://www.computerrepairservicesusa.com/illinois/city/computer-repair-cleveland/
As you can see for the first two links, the first paragraph is the same with just one word differing. While the description of the vendor is unique I'm not really sure what to do because we need all the content. i'm not postive where the rel=cannoical would go in this situation?
As you can see for the third and fourth links, there is numerous duplicate content such as, towns, zip codes, and the first quater of the page. I'm not really sure what to do because we need all of the content. Also i'm not sure where to use the rel= cannoical in this situation?
For the five and sixth link this is universal across all the towns and city's. What I mean by this is the first quarter of the page is duplicate as well as the towns' are all duplicate to that specific state. Once again we need all the content, so i'm not really sure where to put the rel= cannoical on this page. I hope that is not confusing to you. It is a bit hard to explain over the text thanks.

Ilya, pm or post the URL and I can have a quick look at it. Give me an example of 1-2 pages where you think there should be a canonical tag or are duplicate and I can let you know what I think.

Thank you for the reply Nakul. There is not really that much unique content on the site usually just a different paragraph or a few different words on each page. would it be a good idea to maybe use rel=cannocial for certain pages, or should I stay away from that? Thanks.

How much other unique content is there on the page (if any) ? Judging by your question, it does not sound like there's a much bigger piece of content that's unique to this page only. So if you have 1-2 paragraphs of sales pitch which is duplicate or similar to the sales pitch or promotional copy on other pages, it's okay if the ratio of the duplicate snippet is small. If however it's a big proportion, then it's thin content and the site may drop off in the SERPS. I would recommend doing a complete SEO Audit, see what you are doing, how you are ranking, what the competition is doing and how they are ranking and create an SEO roadmap to follow. I hope this helps.

Reviews on Product Page or Separated
Good Afternoon We currently have our individual product information pages set-up with a link through to a separate review page optimised for the term "Product A Reviews" I was reading about structured data and if I read correctly, the reviews should sit with the marked up product data so I was wondering whether to merge them back into one page. We have many reviews so the review pages are paginated in blocks of 25 My options are: Leave as it is, product info page and separate review page Merge the review content back in to the main page and have the pagination work on that page Include the first 25 reviews on the product info page then when user clicks through to page 2, 3 etc they're taken to the separated review page. In that way the product page would regularly get new content and we can still have a page specifically targeted for reviews. From the users point of view, they probably aren't even aware they're being taken to a separate reviews page so with that in mind as I'm typing this maybe they should be one page again

Assistance with High Priority Duplicate Page Content Errors
Hi I am trying to fix the high priority duplicate content URL's from my recent MOZ crawl (6 URL's) in total. Would someone from the community be able to offer some web development advice? I had reached out on the Moz Community on the main welcome page. Samantha stated that someone in web development on Moz's Q&A forum would be better suited to assist me. I took a word press class on Lynda.com, but other than that, I am a novice. I manage my site www.rejuvalon.com on Go Daddy's managed wordpress site. Thanks so much for your help! Best, Jill

Duplicate content problem
Hi there, I have a couple of related questions about the crawl report finding duplicate content: We have a number of pages that feature mostly media - just a picture or just a slideshow - with very little text. These pages are rarely viewed and they are identified as duplicate content even though the pages are indeed unique to the user. Does anyone have an opinion about whether or not we'd be better off to just remove them since we do not have the time to add enough text at this point to make them unique to the bots? The other question is we have a redirect for any 404 on our site that follows the pattern immigroup.com/news/* - the redirect merely sends the user back to immigroup.com/news. However, Moz's crawl seems to be reading this as duplicate content as well. I'm not sure why that is, but is there anything we can do about this? These pages do not exist, they just come from someone typing in the wrong url or from someone clicking on a bad link. But we want the traffic - after all the users are landing on a page that has a lot of content. Any help would be great! Thanks very much! George

Is this duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content?
Hello, My question is: Is it duplicate content when there is a link back to the original content? For example, here is the original page: http://www.saugstrup.org/en-ny-content-marketing-case-infografik/. But that same content can be found here: http://www.kommunikationsforum.dk/anders-saugstrup/blog/en-ny-content-marketing-case-til-dig, but there is a link back to the original content. Is it still duplicate content? Thanks in advance.

Wordpress tags and duplicate content?
I've seen a few other Q&A posts on this but I haven't found a complete answer. I read somewhere a while ago that you can use as many tags as you would like. I found that I rank for each tag I used. For example, I could rank for best night clubs in san antonio, good best night clubs in san antonio, great best night clubs in san antonio, top best night clubs in san antonio, etc. However, I now see that I'm creating a ton of duplicate content. Is there any way to set a canonical tag on the tag pages to link back to the original post so that I still keep my rankings? Would future tags be ignored if I did this?

Duplicate Content
SEOmoz is reporting duplicate content for 2000 of my pages. For example, these are reported as duplicate content: http://curatorseye.com/Name=“Holster-Atlas”---Used-by-British-Officers-in-the-Revolution&Item=4158
Technical SEO | | jplill
http://curatorseye.com/Name=âHolster-Atlasâ---Used-by-British-Officers-in-the-Revolution&Item=4158 The actual link on the site is http://www.curatorseye.com/Name=“Holster-Atlas”---Used-by-British-Officers-in-the-Revolution&Item=4158 Any insight on how to fix this? I'm not sure where the second version of the URL is coming from. Thanks,

After I 301 redirect duplicate pages to my rel=canonical page, do I need to add any tags or code to the non canonical pages?
I have many duplicate pages. Some pages have 2-3 duplicates. Most of which have Uppercase and Lowercase paths (generated by Microsoft IIS). Does this implementation of 301 and rel=canonical suffice? Or is there more I could do to optimize the passing of duplicate page link juice to the canonical. THANK YOU!
