Implementation of Rich Text Snippets on a e-commerce site
-
Hey Guys
I'm working on the implementation of Rich Text Snippets , I have basically 3 types of page
-
Product Page
-
Category Page
-
Homepage
On the product page I'm going to implement the product scheme which seem relatively straight forward , I'm struggling a bit understand what can be implement on the homepage & category page if anything
For the Homepage I was planning to use the organisation scheme
http://schema.org/Organization
using the object thing
my question is can you use the image tag to try and get google to display our brand logo ? just like the author & recipe etc..
we sell branded goods so on each ideally for branded page we provide brand description and brand logo
http://brokenscene.com/uk/brands/famous-stars-and-straps.html
can you use any snippets or is it best to focus on just the products ?

I am struggling with all of this myself. One thing I actually did right was implement the image tag to display our brand logo for the home page and category page. Yes this works. Take a look at our home page or one of our Category pages in the testing tool:
http://www.celebratecommunion.com/prefilled-communion-cups.html
Of course, Google isn't doing anything with this information yet, so it (our logo) doesn't yet appear in SERPs.
Unfortunately, it's pulling the brand logo instead of the product thumbnail image on our product pages. If you figure out how to achieve that, let me know!

Online classified ads site - duplicate content?
Hello, I was reading hobo s post on duplicate content. Our web is in the classified advertisement industry and our site is built up like this Homepage (last 200 ads) category 1(has the name we want to rank our homepage and around 350 ads) category 2 (around 100 ads) category 3 (around 60 ads) Now our homepage has 200 ads that also appear mostly in category 1 but also in others. We are ranking our homepage as 11 th now on Google. I'm worried a bit that the 200 ads on the homepage are not unique, because they will appear in one other category. Is this OK? Is this duplication? Should we do something? Issue is that we at first started ranking our homepage where all ads were, now there are too many so we show 200 latest on homepage and then they are split into category pages.

SEO audit on a beta site
HI there, Is there much point conducting an SEO site audit on a site that has not yet launched and is protected behind a login? Presumably none of the usual SEO tools (Moz, Screaming Frog etc) can crawl this site becuase it is all locked behind a login. Would it be better to launch it and then do a site audit? Thanks

Site no indexed after a week loadbalancer, cache-control?
hi All apologies to everybody in advance my level of SEO or technical stuff is quite minimal. we have setup a new site with a top level domain sitting on multiple servers ( https.www.mysite/new/ on one and http.wwww.mysites/old/ on another) different pages, content etc. it's definitely a patchy solution until what is left in the old server will be migrated to the new one. however the new site is still not indexed after around 2 weeks. I have checke on moz and and google console ( fetch and rendering) and nothing seem to block indexing. no issue with robot.txt ( either on https.www.mysite/new/robots.txt or http.wwww.mysites/old/robots.txt) meta-robot. any idea on what could cause the problem? can it be an issue with the cache-control set as : no-store no-cache? Or the loadbalancer that is preventing google to access ? Dario

Html text versus a graphic of a word
Hello, How much better for rankings is an html text heading (H1 text of a word at the top of a page) than a graphic of the word with an alt tag? Thank you!

Seasonal site structure
Bit of a complicated one for anyone who likes a challenge.. We sell a range of products which are very seasonal, so therefore have a seasonal section within the store with the products categorized into their relevant categories. In additon to this i wanted to also create a feature of each season so in effect pull forward on to a new tab the relevant season ie: Valentine so that customers didn't have to hunt for the products by going via seasonal shop etc The problem is that my site urls display last-category/product-title so in effect as the seasons change these urls will be deleted. They do remain elsewhere in our catalogue.. Does this make sense?

Alt tag matching product titles - e-commerce
Hey all, Just wondering if it is ok to match the alt tag to product titles. Imagine an e-commerce site that lists a whole lot of products on any one page for any one category. Each product listing has a thumbnail image beside it. The easiest way to implement this dynamically is to use the product title for the alt tag. Anyone had any experience with this? Is it overkill / spam of keywords - given that the product title is repeated. Our current situation is that our alt tags are simply blank or say 'photo' which is no good, and we have hundreds of thousands of pages. Cheers, Croozie
