Can you use Google tag manager to manage rich snippets/schema mark up?
-
Hi,Does anyone know if you can use the new Google tag manager to manage rich snippets? I've seen that there is an HTML section where you can edit HTML that isn't shown on the site - do you think this field could be used to add schema data? Thanks,Karen

Hi there
A couple of years back but this still isn't answered! I am sure you have heard by now but you can install Schema through GTM, here is a great resource:
Adding Schema Markup - The Non-Developer Guide (SERPWoo)
Hope this helps! Good luck!

We just tried doing exactly that in GTM with hidden style tags. Our customers tend to use weird CMS platforms so getting their devs to add something to the footer or header is tough.
Biz NameAlberta1234 Fake Street555 555 1234Unfortunately I just tested it and nothing is showing up in the structured testing tool: https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/Would love if anyone could shine more light on this.
Trying to enter it as a custom HTML tag firing on all pages. -
Hey Karen,
As to getting back to you so quickly: I was in the neighborhood and happy to assist
I am assuming product schema, but LMK.
With some of our content, we actually are training copywriters to put the schema in. Now, I would not do this in ecommerce as it is a different dev cycle/approach. But, for review or person schema, etc. its not a bad thought.
Each of our copywriters have pay changes based on learning and achievement. (No, we are not making them devs and they are judged based on content quality as well.)
I believe that every kid should learn basic html, etc. and am even starting a program where we provide a dev to a school to teach coding to middle schoolers (We pay the dev and the school/kids pay nothing). If they can be taught with all they are going through, anyone can. We are approaching a place where most will need basic html, etc. and schema ain't that tough.
LMK how it goes. You can even PM me.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It was a bit of a long-shot, we're just desperate to manage clients' schema without having to go through developers!
Thanks,
Karen

Digirank,
I do not see how you could use it for that, but admittedly have kicked your ball over to our head of dev just to be sure. Curious, how would you want to use it for schema given it is set to be more for tracking?

Attribution of conversions to payment gateway in Google Analytics
Hi all, We have been having a problem for a while now where most transactions are attributed to referrals from our payment gateway Sagepay. The issue started a couple of months ago, when we finally upgraded our website to https:// for logged in users and transactions. Before, when we were using http://, transactions were attributed to the correct channel. Even weirder, we upgraded 4 websites and only 2 of them have the issue now, the other two continue to attribute transactions correctly. I added Sagepay to the referral exclusion list which made no difference. Over the weekend, we upgraded to the global site tag and it seems to have improved somewhat, but yesterday 50% of transactions were still attributed to referral/sagepay. I am also seeing an odd issue, where for half of the transactions, the revenue and transaction are attributed to one channel, but the products (quantity) are attributed to another. One of the channels is always referral/sagepay and the other is the channel that the transaction should be attributed to. Has anyone seen this issue before? I'd appreciate any tips that might help us fix this issue. Thanks in advance!

Redirecting one domain to another using utm tags
I have two live websites, which have both been live for over 10 years, so we have plenty of backlinks to both...domain1.com & domain2.com. Domain 1 and all urls is being merged into domain2.com. So 301 redirects will be setup for every page of the site....domain1.com/abc-1234/ to > domain2.com/abc-1234/ In Google analytics for domain2.com we want to be able to see which visits we have received as a result of a redirect from domain1.com. It is possible to see these visits that come in via organic, referrals and social etc, as those will come to us with the referral as domain1.com. However, with direct traffic, i.e. if someone types domain1.com into their search bar, these visits will be assigned as direct and we are not able to tell in GA if those users have typed in domain2.com, or domain1.com to get to our webpage. There are some suggestions in forums of adding utm_source tracking to all redirects (and add canonicals to those urls pointing to the non utm_source version), but my concern is that Google is going to have to go through one extra step to reach the page on the redirected domain. So without the utm source code Google will follow this route

domain1.com/123/ to domain2.com/123/ With the utm source code Google will follow this route
domain.com/123/ to domain2.com/123/?utm_source... then see's canonical, so moves to domain2.com/123/ So essentially I am giving Google one extra step to follow before it gets to the equivalent page on the new site. Is this an issue, and/or are there any other ways to track this redirection without adding extra parameters to the url?0 -
Google Analytics SEO Queries Not Showing
Hi All, This might be a silly question, but for all the properties I monitor in Google Analytics, I'm now showing no data for SEO Queries under Acquisition for the past 6 days. Normally I would expect a few day delay in queries, but nothing for 6 days is somewhat peculiar especially as it was functioning fine prior to November 12th. Does anyone have insight into what might be going on? Thanks! URaNMa3

How does switching to HTTPS effect Google Analytics?
We are looking at making our site HTTPS. We have been using the same Google Analytics account for years and I like having the historical data. All of our pages will be the same, we are just going to redirect from the http to https. Does anything need to be done with Google Analytics? What about other addons such as Optimizely, Crazy Egg, or Share this?

How can I use Google Analytics to detect users viewing my website on a TV?
I want to see in Google Analytics whether or not people are viewing my website on a TV, such as with a smart TV or other device connected to their TV. These are the only ways to do this that I have found so far: Operating system: Google TV, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox Browser: Nintendo Browser, Playstation 3 Are there other data points that I can reliably use to segment these users?
