Running a contest to increase Facebook Likes
-
I recently read about a well known company giving away a large prize and offering anyone a chance to win by Liking their Facebook Page.
Has there been any statements provided by Google on how they view the attempt to increase Facebook Likes through contests.
Or if they have not revealed anything, what do you think Google's approach would be based on their history?

Google will not really care about FB likes. Not even FB cares too much about artificially inflating likes.
Almost all FB competitions attracting likes are short lived and hardly ever engage your brand with the user and there will be zero stickiness. Consider the FB likes a vanity number and nothing else. If a company has no social engagement on the FB wall (i.e. no shares or comments), then it's not worth it to run a campaign.
I would rather look at an all-inclusive social campaign where you stretch across Twitter, FB, G+ and Pinterest. We had good engagement from users with our photo- or Pinterest competitions and actually saw backlinks and referrals growing from this.
Also look at engaging new / existing users on your site and/or blog - this will have more value than just artificially growing some meaningless number.

What is your goal of this contest? If you are just trying to get more followers on facebook why are you worried about google? Contests using app like wildfire snapp app or raffle copter as well as promoting it with ads etc are a great way to get your community started and is safe from harming you or your rankings.
If you are asking about links generated by such a contest or the ranking effects of social shares from google's prospective as long as you aren't doing anything spammy or underhanded and have real market goals in mind you should be fine.

As long as the contest legitimately engages a company's Facebook followers, I can't imagine why it would be a problem. Contests and giveaways are great ways to engage people. The one thing I would be wary of wouldn't so much be Google but Facebook itself. They have recently embarked on a campaign to eliminate "Fake" followers. If your contest produces a lot of fake follows, then you might see your number of likes inflate while people are entering, but then drop down again after the promotion if Facebook determines that alot of those new followers weren't real people with genuine FB accounts.
Disclaimer: No one, including myself can predict what Google will or won't do. (sorry, I aways feel the need to put that in when answering a question about "predicting" what Google might or might not penalize).

Way to reset Facebook page Reach sending patterns
I have a client that posts a bunch of really poorly formatted and nonengaging content on her a Facebook business page. This has caused her reach to be very low, despite having 9000 real followers. Due to a history of poor content and therefore low engagement Facebook just does not send her stuff out anymore. Is there a way to change that? I heard you could reset that notion by staying off the page for a couple of weeks and then beginning to post once more with better stuff. Is that remotely true?

Can Hootsuite Really Monitor Competition Activity Across the Facebook, Linked & Twitter?
I'm going round and round in circles with this one as everytime I ask Hootsuite they tell me the same thing and it does not work so here we go... I want to monitor another competitors social media activity. Specifically i want to see if they are active in Facebook, Twitter & Linked in. But am i right in saying you can only monitor social activity of a competitor if you can connect Hootsuite to there social media account via a stream. Put another way imagine Lacoste say - "Right give me a report on what Nike is doing on facebook". Is Hootsuite useless unless you can connect it to Nikes Favebook business page? My misery is best explained by this url - http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/tracking-via-hootsuite-3jpg_zps2fa47469.jpg If Hootsuite has this limitation then whats the point in Hootsuite promoting itself as a socail listening tool when as soon as you want to monitor a competitor you hit the proverbial brick wall. Maybe I'm using the wrong tool & hootsuite is limited or I'm a bit thick & it can be done. Any help welcome, I'm likely to be see jumping out of an office window in a town near you very very soon 😉

Should I have Facebook Likes on my webpage point to a Facebook page or just the domain?
We have a Like button on our site which currently Like's our domain. I'm wondering if it would be better if it Liked a Facebook page for our company. The benefit of liking the domain as I can see it is that when it appears on timelines a click will take you directly to our site.

Best Way to Build up Likes
Hello, What's the best ways to build up "Likes" on Facebook. A friend of mine wanted to buy likes and I'd like to give him an alternative. We're in the personal development training industry. We have a nice website 110 Likes No twitter or Google+ large number of past customers. The strategies have to be very non-abrasive as our fan base really cares a lot about us. In other words, it's not the kind of audience you can send mass messages to or do anything that would seem like sales or advertising. Thanks!

Facebook business page
Hello Can you help me. I'm starting out in SEO and sometimes I think I miss the Elephant in the room. I have tried and tried to find our via 'Google' or 'Seomoz' articles the answer to this question. How does 'Google Panda' link a facebook business page to it's actual business website if the url is not identical eg 'www.setteeherts.co.uk' 2 'www.facebook.com/settee-herts'? As no one is talking about this I'm assuming I am missing the elephant. If you can see it can you point it out gently? ta!

What's more important? Facebook fans, or likes?
Until now, I've been focusing on getting Facebook likes for my site, and amassed quite a lot. However it felt like I was missing an opportunity by not connecting directly to my audience. So I created a Facebook page which my site visitors can like. But this means having to promote two different things: a "facebook like" for my site, and a "facebook like" for my facebook page, which seems silly. So, I was wondering if: there is a way to combine the likes of my site to the likes of my FB page? Or a way for a visitor to like both through a single click? what's more important to Google: FB-likes to your site, or to your FB-page? Thank you!
