Keywords in Bold?
-
A friend mentioned to me that the bolding of keywords is not "frowned" upon by google, ad should be replaced by anchor text links about 2-3 per phrase / word depending on the overall content on the page. Is this true?
-
We previously bolded keywords a few times per page but are now moving to bold phrases of 3-6 words each that we find are usual for the user. Eg the key benefits, what differentiates it etc. it looks better, delivers a more valuable user experience and the search engines like this more (with seen positive results)
-
I agree with your method and I do like this answer as well!
-
I like this answer.
I do try to avoid putting a % on KW Density though and instead use more of a visual scan to catch over doing a specific phrase.
-
Bolding is fine and even helps some. Anchor text is good practice also. Just remember to keep your keyword density under 3% to avoid the over optimization penalty and vary your anchor text using different keywords. Plus, the anchor text should flow within your page copy. Don't force the keywords. Most important, think about what is best for the user anytime you create links in content.
SEO is important, but ask yourself these two questions when creating content for pages, because Google is -
What is the user searching for?
Is my page delivering it?

What if i dont use an H1, but rather, h2 with multiple keywords.
the reason i dont want to use h1 is because i can have only one h1, however if i use several h2s. is it gonna help me rank? bacause google likes h1 more than h2, is google gonna give more priority or same priority to h2., and if that priority is gonna be less, what will be the percentage of that lessness? for ex: h1 gets 90 score if my h1 is missing how much score my h2 will get out of hundred(i know there is no such metric but i am just wondering anyways)

Keyword rankings sudden drop
Hello, I own an online headshop, and as of last week my keyword rankings dropped significantly on some competitive keywords I was ranking for. I noticed the same thing happened to me last month, and then a few weeks later these keywords were ranking again. In fact, they were ranking even higher than before. I also noticed that 2 of my biggest competitors who receive 500k+ clicks a month had a significant drop in their keyword rankings as well. Does anybody know why this happens and how to correct the issue? Thanks

How Can I Safely Establish Homepage Relevancy With Internal Keyword Links?
My website has roughly 1000-2000 pages. However, our homepage is lacking relevancy as to what it is about. One way that I'd like to tackle this problem, is by updating many of our pages with internal linking. I often hear, use exact keyword links with caution, but have assumed this mainly referred to external backlinks. Would it be a disaster to set up our single most relevant keyword on about 300 pages and point it to our homepage? There are breadcrumbs on our site, but the home link uses an image (It's a picture of a house, if you're curious.) Am I better off just to change that to our most relevant keyword? I could use any advice on internal links for establishing better homepage relevancy. Thank you!

How many keywords?
Hi, I have a client asking if they can target 50-100 keywords. Has anyone ever heard of this before? In my eyes, 1-7 keywords at any one time is more than enough. So unless you had a team of 50 people doing the work, is this a reasonable request? Any advice welcome. Thanks

Website slipped for particular keyword this year
www.schupepetents.co.nz I am webmaster for this site which slipped in rankings around 18/1/13. It was doing really well for keyword "marquee hire" ranking 6-8 for google.co.nz. It is now ranked about 30. Background. It has been ranked well for keyword for about 3 years. From what I can see there was a few websites that tumbled around this time. The website has been completely redone to a wordpress site this was in December last year. The switch was done before putting in 301 re directs to preserve internal page rank. As a result the internal page rank of pages has had to start again! Three things from online research into what has potentially affected this:
White Hat / Black Hat SEO | | chopchop
1. Lack of website substance. As website has been redone it has lost Google "esteem" (lack of internal pages PR). But the time that it dropped was a long time after the site redesign.
2. Possible penalty for too high proportion of links from directory websites. Heard some whispers from forums that this had happened. But links are not just from directories.
3. Too many links with specific keyword (marquee hire) for junk sites. This is possibly true but why the drop at that time when no one else experienced this. Also we hired a company mid last year who link bombed using "marquee hire" and a couple other keywords. Moz seems to be very happy with the website!! Good link scores and on-page optimisation is great. Wondering what has happened?!0 -
Keyword Named Domains
First, I'm new to SEO so bear with me. My company owns a list of domains with names that are keywords for us. Right now, all those domains are redirecting to our main site. None of the domains has ever had content; they were purchased recently and simple redirected. My questions are: 1) is there any value in having domains that are exact keywords on which we'd like to rank, (i.e. does this work to improve site traffic and ultimately rankings, or is this a black hat tactic)? and, 2) would there ever be any value in turning these sites into landing pages with content and outbound links that lead to our original site? Thanks for your advice.

Keyword Specific Domain | Outranking trend
Hey everyone, i looked for a similar question but didnt found anything. Ive been having a lot trouble competing with other websites that use the "exact-keyword" domain (www.keyword.com), then they just stuff some mediocre content and rank 1-3 in Google SERP for that keyword I wasnt worried before because i thought they were going to be penalized or decreased in ranking. But they bought several keyword domains and outrank everyone in almost every word. Their conversion rate cant be that good because of the mediocre content, but still i dont like the fact that they rank better just because of the keyword. Any comment on this? , what would you do? Regards

Dramatic fall in SERP's for all keywords at end of March 2012?? Help!
Hi, Our website www.photoworld.co.uk has been improving it's SERP's for the last 12 months or so, achieving page 1 rankings for most of our key terms. Then suddenly, around the end of March, we suffered massive drops in nearly all of our key terms (see attached image for more info). Basically I wondered if anyone had any clues on what Google has suddenly taken a huge dislike to with our site and steps we can put in place to aid with rankings recovery ASAP. Thanks n8taO.jpg
