How many backlinks on start up?

How many backlinks would you say is too many on a start up site. Assume about 300 visitors driven to the site via adwords.

Solid!

Wow, this is a tough question. I think the answer is, "whatever number of additional links you can sustain in your link-building on a consistent basis over a long period of time." In other words, if you go gung-ho and build 500 backlinks in your first week, and then only 1 a week for the next 8 months...something might look fishy about that link profile.
The question is asked almost as if you have an endless pool of backlinks...which makes me suspect to begin with. If they are all legitimate links, then I want to go fishing in the same pool you're fishing in!
Joking aside, if you know you can get 100 solid links right out of the gate, but not so sure how long you can sustain that, I'd add them little by little over the course of a few weeks or months so that your link profile stays consistenly growing. Then, after your site's been up for a while, your site should settle into a pretty natural pace. There will always be spikes and dips as different parts of your site might get more attention at certain times (new realeases, news articles talk about you, etc.), but overall there will be kind of a "norm" for your site established that you won't want to go crazy and upset it unless the spike is produced legitimately.
Good luck and happy fishing!

Footer backlink for/to Web Design Agency
I read some old (10+ years) information on whether footer backlinks from the websites that design agencies build are seen as spammy and potentially cause a negative effect. We have over 150 websites that we have built over the last few years, all with sitewide footer backlinks back to our homepage (designed and managed by COMPANY NAME). Semrush flags some of the links as potential spammy links. What are the current thoughts on this type of footer backlink? Are we better to have 1 dofollow backlink and the rest of the website nofollow from each domain?

Backlinking question
Hello everyone! I currently work for a software company that sell's CRM software for product sellers and one of our options along with this service is a website builder option that can provide the client with a website with several different templates to choose from. Currently, we have over 500 clients using these website templates and I noticed that they are all under the same IP address. My question is, in terms of a backlinking effort, would it be beneficial if we included a link to our company's website on the footer on each of these templates? Example could be: Powered by: (company's name) and have the name a link to our site. I'm worried that this could be seen negatively by Google if we dofollowed these links or the fact that they are all under the same IP. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

Backlinks from subdomain, can it hurt ranking?
I just started doing an SEO audit and noticed I have 40,000 some odd back links from an OLD version of our site that has been moved to a subdomain. The back links are for articles that already exist on our main site. I don't think Google is picking it up as duplicate content because that site isn't being crawled anymore. Could this hurt us SEO wise? I plan on removing the site, but how long after it's been removed should those back links disappear?

Too Many Links???
SEOMOZ is telling me I have more than 100 links on quite a few of my pages, and I cant seem to find out what links they are finding. Like for instance on this page http://standupguys.biz/what-we-haul/commercial-junk-removal-services/computer-removal-recycling/ It is telling me that I have 117 hyper links (which is WAY too high). Can anyone explain to me where these are coming from, and how I can avoid this?? Please and thank you.

How do sites have so many 'total links'?
I've been analyzing some of our competitors: essayedge.com and papercheck.com Both sites have a large number of 'total links'... about 93,000 each. The former has about 1,200 linking root domains while the latter only has 195. Even for 1,200 linking root domains, 93k total links seems like a ton to me. Our site has 101 linking root domains and only 299 'total links'. I'm quite new to this whole SEO game and admittedly still learning a TON. Am I missing something here? How do sites generate so many links? This seems nuts to me. Thanks for any help!

Getting Many Links from Tumbler Question?
If I have 10 links coming from 10 Tumbler blogs.. Do they count as 10 linking domains or 1 linking domain coming from tumbler.com? Does the authority of links coming from tumbler decrease the more I get links from tumbler blogs? Thanks
