Google + Profile in Serps

Hello,
Ive noticed some of my competitors show up with both verified and non-verified Google+ Icon, and recent activity showing to the right usually where PPC shows. Is it possible for smaller sized businesses to accomplish something like this? Im assuming this is not paid?

I haven't seen this occur for any local business brands - it tends to happen on larger national brands with an established presence.
This isn't paid, it's part of Google Knowledge Graph and/or Google Plus. However for almost all brand results I have seen that get this result, it pulls information from their brand's Google+ business page, so I'd say that's essential. Other elements like a completed Wikipedia entry and a large fan/follower base on Google+ will also play a role.
So in regards to a small business, it's not going to happen quickly. What type of niche are you in where your competitors are getting this and you're not?

Benefit of Comments in SERPs
I found the posts with comments are ranking much better for my blog. But most of the users are commenting on Facebook, when I share my content. Thats bad, because I don't have this discussion on my site. I am using the standard WordPress commenting system. No a good commenting option for my would be Facebook comments (or Comments Evolved is also a quite nice plugin for FB, G+ and WP comments). The question is? Does Google still give these Facebook comments on my site as much value as 'native' WordPress comments. Or are they discounted in some way? The second question of course would be, if it is wise to hand over all of the comments to Facebook and loosing control over them. But I think I could dramatically increase comments if I switch to Facebook commenting system...

Google Play rankings?
Hi everyone, I've spent the last hour or two googling information on Google Play app rankings, and a few websites mention that standard pagerank of the app page is taken into account when calculating rankings. This seems to make sense, though I'd estimate it's probably not a large factor, with daily downloads being a much higher factor IMO. So my question is, how much of a factor does standard link-building for a Google Play app webpage have in the rankings?. We're trying to increase exposure of an app we've built (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.onedirection), and though we seem to have more downloads, reviews and +1's than others, we seem to be ranking beneath them. Google+ What is up with results?
If anybody has followed me, they know I am not a big advocate of Social Media, but I understand when you must adapt. So we broke down and made our Google+ Page https://plus.google.com/113910385846996409142 The problem is, when you go to Google and search "Google+ Columbia Engineered Rubber" You get what appears to be 2 place pages (our company is in 2 locations) and one page that looks like something somebody tried to make, could have somebody here, or some auto generating thing..don't know. But our real page that we made (linked above) doesn't appear at all. Does anybody know how to go about consolidating these pages to the one I made, its quite confusing for one company to have 3 pages showing in results none of which are correct. How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages?
How are Google Plus pages related to Google Plus Local pages and what is the best way to join/link them? e.g. if I go to Starbucks Google Plus page https://plus.google.com/117575809843355974839/posts, where can I see their store locations or google Places pages? If I go to a Google Places page from Google Maps - which now takes you to a Google Plus 'Places' page - how is that Google Plus Places page related to that companies main Google Plus page - I can't see a way to go between them. See: https://plus.google.com/117861970252906134982/about?gl=au&hl=en Is there a way to connect these two kinds of pages for a business?

Shared articles in the SERP's - who sees these shares?
Hi Folks, I am trying to find out a little more about how individuals need to be connected to see that someone 'shared' something and for this to then show up in my results when signed into Google. Can anyone shed a little more light on this please? I am just looking for extra clarification. Would we need to be connected through Google Buzz? Facebook? Twitter? Quora? LinkedIn? None of the above? With everyone you are connected to through your Google Account? What is Google using when it looks at how I am connected with others? This is from their Blog: "First, social search results will now be mixed throughout your results based on their relevance (in the past they only appeared at the bottom).
