Would adding noindex help?
-
I had completely forgotten that I have about 20 pages of content on my site that is an exact duplicate of other sites (i.e. obtained from PLR site). I really do not want to delete these pages as they do get a lot of visitors (or did before last algo updates). These visitors are not from organic search but have navigated to the pages from within my site.
Question is should I
a) add noindex to these pages and then ask google to remove them from index or
b) try to rewrite them
Many Thanks
Simon

Thank you all for your advice and fast responses. It looks like I had a few late nights and some sore fingers coming up.
-
Definitely try rewriting the content (this will also keep it fresh and up to date). If it is good, valuable content then it would be a shame for you to have to remove it from search engines as they could potentially drive a lot of traffic to your site.
-
I agree with goodlegaladvice if you have time to rewrite the content this would be the best scenario as you are likely to pick up search visitors.
If you don't have the time you could consider cross domain canonicalization crediting the original clearly to the search engines - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/cross-domain-canonical-the-new-301-whiteboard-friday
-
Try to rewrite them if its content that is attracting people on your site it may attract people from the search engines too.... Should be worth the effort

Hello mates, Our site is an e-comerce site http://goo.gl/4QBVjR has been hit hard by the latest Panda on the last weekend as many other sites such as Retailmenot etc. We were working hard from one year til now:1. Neglected Blog SEO help
I am wedding & sports photographer in San Antonio. I've been busy with photographing sports (lots of them) & totally neglected SEO work for nearly 2 years. I know it's a broad question but what is the best way to get back on track? Should I create a strong landing page with keyword wedding photographer? Should i make separate websites - one for weddings, one for sports? Is PPC good way to jump start? Do I have website structure problems etc? If anyone can comment, that would be great. I am willing to hire SEO experts so if anyone knows anybody, please let me know My website is www.soobumimphotography.com Thank you in advance

Help required to get the right landing page ranking
Hi, I've taken on a new ski client who wants to rank on page 1 on google.co.uk for [ski instructor courses]. When I first put that keyword into Moz rank tracker the landing page http://www.snowrehab.com/ski-instructor-courses/revelstoke-12-week-csia-level-1-&-2.html came up and it was ~ #30 Instead we wanted http://www.snowrehab.com/ski-instructor-courses to rank and I've optimised the copy (perhaps over optimised?) and have been redirecting & building links to that page. When I check in the SERPs (as unpersonalised as I can get) that new page appears to be ranking ~ 20 and the old page is nowhere to be seen. So far so good. However in the rank tracker Moz says the new page (exact URL) isn't ranking (not in top 50) and that when I put in 'entire subdomain' that the old page still comes up (and has improved to ~ 25). Any help / advice really appreciated! I want to prove to the client the rankings have improved / work I've been doing has helped!

Navigation Links Causing Too Many Links Help?
Hello, I have read some SEOMOZ search results for this, but am still concerned that Google may see 4,500 Too Many Link warnings as a problem. This is caused primarily due to our header navigation, which is not intended to be keyword stuffing, but to provide all avenues for our breadth of content. site: crazymikesapps.com. Most answers seem to advise if there is no keyword stuffing at hand don't worry about it. Any help appreciated. thank you Mike

Rel Canonical - Could someone please help confirm something?
Morning Mozzers, I'm looking at a site (www.zitan.co.uk) and making a few recommendations for SEO, one of the things I've spotted is something weird with rel canonical. It looks (to me) as if they've got almost every single page set with this tag: rel="canonical" href="http://www.zitan.co.uk" /> I'm 99% certain that this means that every page on the site (that has this tag) is pointing all link juice / authority back to the homepage? If someone could please check and just confirm that, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, James
