How long should does it take before I see SEO results?
-
I am thinking about launching a website connected to Christmas - which gives me less then 2 months to develop and begin ranking for the site.
Is this too short a timeframe and I should put off this plan until next year or can I actually begin ranking for low competitive keywords within my timeframe.

Hi Sara,
If the competition is low, you will probably be able to see results within a few weeks. This would be a gamble but i've seen some of my pages for mediocre level keywords rank in 10 days from the day the page was created.
I guess it would depend on how low the competition is and how far you are willing to go. If you are willing to spend some time creating a really good PR, it would help push your site up in a shorter time.
Honestly IMO no one owns Google so no one can truly answer this question. From my experience it is possible ; ) but its up to you and how far you are willing to go.
Hope this helps.

A site dedicated to the Spanish Christmas raffle - which is quite popular in Spain but much less so in the rest of the world.
Since I am targeting non-Spanish players there is low competition for the keywords, but also less potential from them. I am leaning towards putting off this project since I think a big part of my work will be besides ranking generating world interest in the raffle and convincing people of its importance.

What type of website do you plan to launch?
As it's nearly November, personally I'd feel that maybe you're a little bit too late. Without considerable time and resources, it would be quite difficult for you to make much progress with this.
You might be able to rank for a few low competitive keywords depending on what industry you're in. It would be quite interesting to see the search volume for your site this year so you could be very well prepared ahead of next Christmas.

How long until links lead to a ranking increase?
I've gotten some good links to my homepage recently. How long until I'm likely to see an increase in ranking? Let me know, thanks.

Article linking to my post kicks it from the search results.
Hi I have been trying to get a article to rank on the term: "help your child do well in school" in the Google UK. Now I was doing okay the article went from 43rd to 17th. Until I got mentioned in the huffington post. Then my result disappeared from the listings and the huffington appeared in 35th position. The article I'm trying to rank is: http://www.schoolguide.co.uk/blog/10-proven-ways-to-help-your-child-do-well-at-school The Huffington posts is: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/emilyjane-clark/five-things-that-will-not_b_5693827.html It's really annoying because this is the type of link building I thought Google really wants. Does anyone know why this would happen and any suggestions of how to proceed?

Do hyphenated searches impact SEO?
Something I recently considered was whether a hyphen in a search term would effect the results that come up. For example, Is there a difference between using 'i-phone' and 'i phone' as anchor text? Some of my search results seem similar but do show some slight differences. Can anyone shed light on the matter?

Real Estate and Vacation Resorts SEO
I am assigned to a few vacation resort sites for SEO plus a Real Estate site. I was hoping to get few suggestions from people that have worked on those fields before. Like good web directories for link building or even some good sites that I should have in mind for comparing mine. Thanks in advance

Seo & Real Estate Site?
I am a Realtor. I am also a web developer. I want to make a site about real estate and web development. Primarily how I use my unique skills with web to sell homes. A real estate website caps it's Page Rank very low. There are not a lot of good backlinks to get when compared to the web development industry. There are millions of blogs I participate in about web development/seo. There are a lot of blogs I participate in about real estate too; however, the real estate websites all have low page ranks. This is obviously because the seo/web development industries know how to build page rank, which makes it easier to accumulate it. It's difficult finding good outlets to get link power from in real estate. How confused would google be? Is there an acceptable strategy to making this a reality? Please point out all of the variables I am not seeing. Pros and Cons. I'm not an SEO pro. I would be going for the keyword Pensacola Real Estate. I would accumulate backlinks from the real estate industry and the web design industry. Help 🙂

Are links from every page of a partners website to my website bad for seo?
I have asked a partner website to link to my website in the Menu Bar. Which has resulted in a link to my website from every page of the partners website (Over 1000 Pages). The link is not a "nofollow" link, it is a regular link. Can this have any negative effects in terms of SEO?

How do all these SEO companies link build, and isn't it technically black hat?
Amateur hour over here, and I'd appreciate a kick in the right direction! I've done a fairly good job link building organically, but I need to start ranking better so I can actually have a good shot at catching up with my competitors. I've contacted companies that perform SEO work, and each one of them has said that link building is one of the most important things that can be done to increase page ranking on SERPs. For a set amount of money each month (in one instance, $6,000/month), they promised me many quality links with keywords in the anchor text and on the first page of SERPS for those keywords against competitors who have Domain Authority of 65+. How can they possibly do this? I've tried doing research into how they can get so many quality links, and I have a theory: these SEO companies have a very large network of websites they work with. The SEO groups charge me money, and in turn pays this network of websites to create pages that link to my website using desired anchor text. Additionally, perhaps the SEO companies have a network of websites that they actually own and simply create new articles about your company and link to it. Is this how it's done? Is this how SEO companies actually operate? And if so, isn't this technically black hat SEO seeing as the customer is paying for links (from what I've read, Google hates this). Could it be possible that if I pay for these links, and Google somehow found out about it, I could really pay the consequences later on? Appreciate any insight you can give me before I spend any money on SEO work. Thanks so much! I'm a new user and really, really like this community!
