Where in my wordpress admin panel do I add the .

Having read Rand's post about the canonical tag I very much wish to use it to advise Google that the duplicates created during archiving (due to the fact that the posts have multiple categories) are just copies.
I understand the theory, but can't transfer it into practice! Could someone give me an idiots guide as to how to add the tag and to where. My site produces approx 10 - 20 blog posts per week. Each has at least 2-4 categories applied to it. They are archived each month, at which point I have a big jump in duplicates in my campaign panel.
Help!

It will be dynamic and you won't have to think and manually add canonical URL to each page you create. It will be done automatically. I suggest you test it as soon as it's set up by checking your source code.

Thank you Dejan - would that be better than adding
-
Yes! That's right.
Just make sure you don't add the same URL on all sub pages. Dr. Pete did that as an experiment. It did not turn out well.
And yes, quick answers - that's how we roll in the q&a

Gosh that was quick. It's on it's own server I can get access to the header, php. I've been happy setting up 'Google Analytics' in the footer, for example.
My problem is getting my head around WP. I've done years of HTML, CSS and dreamweaver. I'm assuming I need to add the

You can install the "Canonical URL's" plugin straight from your wp-admin interface: yourdomain.com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php?tab=search&type=term&s=canonical&plugin-search-input=Search+Plugins
(should be first result)
This plugin is pretty basic but you can tweak its settings in the plugin configuration panel.
You will now notice that your source code contains another line:
rel='canonical' href='http://yourwebsite.com' />

Hi Catherine,
Is Wordpress hosted on wordpress.com or your own server?
If its hosted on your own server, you can insert the code bit in the header.php.
If you are not comfortable with coding, you might want to try out Yoast's rel canonical plugin: http://yoast.com/canonical-url-links/

How many categories should you have within a blog / Wordpress Site for SEO?
Hi Guys I am just wondering whether or not for SEO purposes it is better to have a small number of categories for your blog posts to fit into as opposed to numerous ones. The reason I ask is that I have one site which is fairly new to the search engines - 8 months old which has 7 general categories within the blog for instance "rail contractors", "railway construction" "airport construction" etc I have another site which is 10 years old which has built up 25 different types of categories for instance brand design, brand development, brand management (i guess you could put all these under 1 category "branding"? We've been writing lots of press for both sites... yet the younger site is getting more coverage on Google page 1. Would this be because the blogs / press are more concentrated under a specific category as opposed to being spread thinly throughout the site? Any help would be appreciated. Debs 🙂

Is joomla better than wordpress let me know your thoughts
Hi, i am wondering if wordpress is better than joomla. We have been having a talk and been wondering if our main site www.in2town.co.uk should stay in joomla or if we should think about moving it over to wordpress. I would like to hear what people think, if wordpress is better than joomla for a magazine or if we should stick with joomla and forget about moving over to wordpress. It would be great to hear people's opinion and maybe some examples of popular magazines or newspaper sites that are using wordpress instead of joomla. It would also be interesting to know how hard or how easy it is to move across to wordpress from joomla. Would value your thoughts on this issue and find out which is better for seo. many thanks

WordPress Guest Post Admin Access?
Is there a plugin or function in WordPress for a guest poster to just get admin access to control comments? Example: Big Brand X writes a guest post on www.yoursite.com. Big Brand X wants admin access to approve or delete comments on their guest on www.yoursite.com. Big Brand X doesn't want access to edit their guest post or any other post on www.yoursite.com, they just want admin access to manage the comments on their guest post. Is this possible? Thanks for the help!

H1 tag in Blank in Wordpress website
Good evening, I have noticed using some h1 checkers, that my primary h1 tag is blank. I manually introduced an h1 with my main keywords, but system recognises as 2 different h1 tags, and therefore it could be harmful for my SEO purposes. I created my wordpress website using Artisteer. Is there any specific way (or plugin) to change this primary h1 tag so it wont appear as blank? My site is www.outletspain.net Thanks in advance Maria Jesus
