How can I leverage Places/Yelp Reviews for Attorney Schema?
-
A little confused by this. We have some on site reviews, is all I need is to reference that? What if we don't have "products", only "services"......should i be leveraging Places/Yelp reviews for this? Anyone add review schema for services?

Hi Vistage SEO!
Okay, I'm glad I understood. Now, this might be easiest for you, if your website happens to be WordPress based. It's a WP plugin for schema encoded reviews:http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/review-schema-markup/
If your site isn't WordPress based, Search Engine Watch coincidentally just published a really good piece on this topic today:
I think you will find that article answers pretty much all questions you might have on this. If anything isn't clear after looking over these two resources, please come back and ask. Good luck!

I think you got it just right Miriam! Thanks.
We also have a page on the site with about 20 client testimonials. Would it be appropriate to somehow place review schema on that page instead of republishing the Yelp and Google Reviews?
Just a little confused with the "rating scale maximum" and "rating scale minimum" fields in schema and how you would properly use those....
I guess there are a few questions wrapped up in this one.
Thank you!

Hi Vistage, I'm not totally certain I understand your questions. Are you saying you have reviews on Google+ and Yelp asking whether you should republish Yelp and Google based reviews on your website using schema? If so, the answer is no. Do not republish reviews on your website. You can certainly link from your website to your review profiles, but you should not take the content and reprint it on your site, using schema or anything else. Does this answer your question, or am I not understanding what you're hoping to know? Please, just let me know!

Google + and Schema
I've noticed with a few of the restaurant clients I work with that Schema isn't contributing at all to their SERP -- their Google + page is. Is there any way to have more control over what Google is pulling to help make UX better? I.e. showing photos of the restaurant without a logo, etc.

Schema Training
What is the best way to familiarize myself with schema and updating it on the website. I know it is important and I understand the concept. It's the implementation and actual mark-up that I struggle with. Are there certifications or courses I could take that would teach me implementation techniques? Is there a blog or person I should follow that is awesome at explaining it?

How important is the optional <priority>tag in an XML sitemap of your website? Can this help search engines understand the hierarchy of a website?</priority>
Can the <priority>tag be used to tell search engines the hierarchy of a site or should it be used to let search engines know which priority to we want pages to be indexed in?</priority>

Can I put a video transcript into a title tag?
I use wistia.com to embed videos onto my company website. Because of the way I have my page setup, I have to embed my video using the iframe embed option. Since I'm using this option, my video transcript isn't going to be SEO friendly. Can I manually insert a title tag within the video iFrame code with the entire transcript? Would that be a good workaround so that I can have the transcript help my page optimization? Thanks! Andrea

How far can I push rel=canonical?
My plan: 3 sites with identical content, yet--wait for it--for every article whose topic is A, the pages on all three sites posting that article will have a rel=canonical tag pointing to Site A. For every article whose topic is B, the pages on all three sites posting that article will have a rel=canonical tag pointing to Site B. So Site A will have some articles about topics A, B, and C. And for pages with articles about A, the rel=canonical will point to the page it's on. Yet for pages with articles about B, the rel=canonical will point to the version of that article on site B. Etc. I have my reasons for planning this, but you can see more or less that I want each site to rank for its niche, yet I want the users at each site to have access to the full spectrum of articles in the shared articles database without having to leave a given site. These would be distinct brands with distinct Whois, directory listings, etc. etc. The content is quality and unique to our company.

Link to image (jpg) - Do I benefit? If not how can I?
Doing some research I found a .edu page linking directly to an image on my site. I can't see how this really benefits me so am wondering how to point the link juice somewhere useful, like the page on which the image resides. Can this be done? One idea that just occured to me would be to rename the image and set up a 301 in the .htaccess. Would that work?

Is there any importance in including http:// in the url?
I have seen some sites that always redirect to https and some sites that always redirect to http://, but lately I have seen sites that force the url to just the site. As in [sitename].com, no www. no http://. Does this affect SEO in anyway? Is it good or bad for other things? I was surprised when I saw it and don't really know what effect it has.

Can some brilliant mozzer out there teach a moron/newbie like me how to 301 redirect several URL's I have?
Okay - I am a supermodel. I look pretty. My legs are amazing. My cheekbones are high. But when it comes to 301 redirects I am the ugliest supermodel on the block. Crap, here is the truth: I am not even a supermodel. I am just a middle-aged, goofy looking dude who is a newbie to fixing websites. I have inherited several sites from a friend and I have been helping by creating solid contextual links internally and externally for a while. But, when Roger the wondrous SEOMoz robot talks to me, he says, "oops, it looks like your foolish freak self has a site that has both a www. and a non-www, which can create competition for yourself." What do I do when he says that? I just whisper a "thank-you" but gently press the skip this step button and go on with my life because I do not know how to make my non-www.'s redirect into the www. sites... Now, I have sort of asked this question on the site before, but I was answered by someone who does not understand my level of ignorance. any use of the word canonical or just put this lfwjkshj.htp/php inside the left ear of your mom, does not tell me anything so, is there any willing and kind soul who can walk me through redirecting several of my sites to their proper home - kind of like Carl Chubbs Weathers did for Happy Gilmore in that Academy Award winning classic? Thanks for the help in advance best, dumbhead
