Citation Sources for Google Places when located in Europe/Middle-East
-
Hi All,
To get citations to back up Google Places listings for Europe or Middle-East based companies, what directories or places is it possible to have your business address, name and phone number listed?
Perhaps we could compile some listings here.
Unfortunately most of the articles and citation sources for Google Places point to local city directories in USA like Yelp, Citysearch etc. which we are not eligible for.
-
Thanks I'll try. I also found another one - at first it's only UK looking but actually it has directories for all European cities inside, for example:
-
Thanks I did try the free version of Whitespark and it turned up 0 results for my searches. I guess only the paid version might turn up something.
-
We've found Whitespark's Local Citation Finder to be very useful, and not very expensive - there's a free option so you can see how it functions, but you don't really get many results until you switch to one of the paid plans.
-
I have some sites UK sites. Hope below sites work for you:
Bing map, yell.com, localmole.co.uk, directory.independent.co.uk, touchlocal.com, localpeople.co.uk, thomsondirectories.com, btexchanges.com.
Do your company facebook page, Google+ publisher page, pinterest business profile etc.

Google treats pages from main website and sub folder/sub directory differently?
Hi all, We have a sub directory like website.com/help/. This is a differently hosted and served content. So I wonder how Google treats pages from this sub directory. Will the same priority will be given for these pages compared to main website pages? Will there be any ranking difference when same page is from main website or sub directory. I mean like below page. Page from main website: www.website.com/page1/ Page from sub-directory: www.website.com/help/page1/ So which page will have more importance in search results?

Putting my content under domain.com/content, or under related categories: domain.com/bikes/content ?
Hello This questions plays on what Joe Hall talked about during this years' MozCon: Rethinking Information Architecture for SEO and Content Marketing. My Case:

So.. we're working out guidelines and templates for a costumer (sporting goods store) on how to publish content (articles, videos, guides) on their category pages, product pages, and other pages. At this moment I have 2 choices:
1. Use a url-structure/information architecture where all the content is placed in one subfolder, for example domain.com/content. Although it's placed here, there's gonna be extensive internal linking from /content to the related category pages, so the content about bikes (even if it's placed under domain.com/bikes) will be just as visible on the pages related to bikes. 2. Place the content about bikes on a subdirectory under the bike category, **for example domain.com/bikes/content. ** The UX/interface for these two scenarios will be identical, but the directories/folder-hierarchy/url structure will be different. According to Joe Hall, the latter scenario will build up more topical authority and relevance towards the category/topic, and should be the overall most ideal setup. Any thoughts on which of the two solutions is the most ideal? PS: There is one critical caveat her: my costumer uses many url-slugs subdirectories for their categories, for example domain.com/activity/summer/bikes/, which means the content in the first scenario will be 4 steps away from the home page. Is this gonna be a problem? Looking forward to your thoughts 🙂 Sigurd, INEVO0 -
Local Google Place Ranking loss
One of our clients lost rankings on the local map results. Last month we changed the phone number on the G+ page so the number is the same as on the website but it's still a call tracking number. We also changed the url to example.nl/plumber-newyork so it directly links to the local page and we made the local G+ author of the local page in the website. Can these changes have something to do with the ranking loss in google maps results?

Competitors Showing in Branded Search w/in Google FR
Hi All, When searching for our brand in Google France, I noticed that some of our major competitors show up beneath our Knowledge Graph listing. My managers and I are wondering if this is something Google just does as associated search or if there's a way that we can work around it. Thanks and please see attached image 🙂 2KYBeiT

Managing Google Map Location for a remote wilderness lodge
Hi all, I’m working on a Google Maps and Google Plus issue for a client who runs a unique, very remote wilderness lodge. The lodge isn’t located near any road -- you have to fly 100+ miles on a small plane. Their mailing address is a PO Box in a dingy little town 100+ miles from their actual mountain location. Therefore, Google maps and Google Plus think the lodge itself is located in this little town, and it shows them there on maps. That’s bad, because the kind of guests who come to this remote lodge wouldn’t want to stay in that little town. We would like Google to understand that the lodge’s location is not the same as its mailing address. We have the GPS coordinates for the actual location. My question is: how do I get Google Plus and Google Maps to correctly show the lodge pin at its GPS location on the map, rather than in the town that hosts its remote PO box? Thanks for reading! Any insights?

New Website Look/Structure - Should I Redirect or Update Pages w/ Quality Inbound Links
This questing is regarding an ecommerce website that I hand wrote(html) in 1997. One of the first click and buy websites, with cart/admin system that I also developed. After all this time, the Old plain HTML look just doesnt cut it. I just updated to XHTML w/ a very modern look, and believe the structured data will index better. All products and current category pages will have the identical vrls taken from the old version. I decided to go with the switch after manual penalty, which has since been removed... I figured now is the time to update. My big question is that over the years, a lot of my backlinks came from products/news that are either no longer relevant or just not available. The pages do exist, but can only be found from the Outbound Link Source. For SEO purposes, I have thought a few things I can do but can't decide which one is the best choice. Any Insight or suggestions would be Awesome! 1. Redirect the old link to the most relevant page in my current catalog. 2. Add my new header/footer to old page(this will add a navigation bar w/ brands/cats/etc) 3. Simply add a nice new image to the top of these pages linking home & update any broken/irrelevant links. I was also considering adding just the very top 2 inches of my header(logo, search box, phone, address) *note, some of these pages do receive some traffic. Nothing huge, but consider the 50+ pages, it ads up.

Planning to out source
Hi there, I am planning to out source my SEO and one company has caught our attention, they propose this: Article submissions Directory submimssions Blog post comments Social bookmark submissions Press Release submissions The above sounds a bit spammy, however the success they have had with such activity with other websites has been fantastic. Please let me know your thoughts
