Campaign set-up: root domain vs. subdomain
-
Hi,
I have a question about the proper way to set up a new SEOmoz campaign for a simple 5-page website (home, about, services, blog, contact). If I'm tracking only www.domain.com, does it make a difference if I set it up to track just that subdomain or should I track it at the root domain? Is it better to use the root domain? Are there pros or cons to using one over the other? If the website is expanded in the future, any future pages will most likely be on the same subdomain (e.g., www.domain.com/page).
Thanks in advance!
Carolina

If all of your future pages will be sub folders then you'll only need to track at the sub domain level. I generally do the same thing you do but I ALWAYS track at the Root domain level. Generally if you have different sub domains and want to track them separately then the sub domain radial is the best answer. An example would be when you have different identities on your root domain at the sub domain level. For instance, you want to track your blog at blog.example.com and you have an investor relations section at investors.example.com and you track them as separate campaigns. Sub folder can be same scenario but at the sub folder level. You want to track your blog at example.com/blog and the /blog is a platform or another installation of a CMS. (hope that makes sense) If you want to track everything that is on your root domain (both sub domains and sub folders) then choose the root domain radial. Like I said before, I always use the root domain. I think the other options are for specific scenarios only.
Let me know if you have any questions

Moz vs google data conflict?
Hi there, I am doing an SEO site audit for a client(giveaway, and here is the problem: when performing site:domain.com on google --> 13,800 pages were found When I see this number it seems to be a bit too much compare to the links i checked on integrity(link check for broken links) which gave me a result of 1291. I digged in more into the Google results and saw hundreds(maybe thousands) of pages that are blocked by robots.txt. So I am thinking, ok this is it, thousands of pages can't be crawled by the search engines. Here is the big BUT though, then I check at my moz crawl (see attachment) and no pages are blocked by the SEs, and then look at the dups, only 23 recorded?? Is Moz not crawling properly the 13,800 results that google finds or is this some magical phenomenon happening here? I am really confused here that is why I need some help here! Thank you guys! One Follow Link from each subdomain/domain best for SEO?
Hi there, we have a lot of customers linking to our homepage from a subdomain of our domain or from an external domain. From SEO point of view is it best that they all only have one DoFollow Link and the rest of the links are NoFollow? Or does this have no matter at all? The problem is that we have like 900.000 links but only from round about 1000 different root domains. If we put like half of the links on NoFollow our ratio of links/ different root domains gets better. Thanks for answering! Sebastian

Is it possible to have two (or more) Twitter accounts for the same campaign?
I use a primary (personal) twitter account and a business twitter account to keep it separate. Both accounts will have content that is related to my site, is it possible to use both for the same campaign?

One page per campaign?
Not quite sure if I read correctly, but is it correct that one campaign tracks only one page of my site? So if I wanted to track something like a services page, this would require a second campaign?

Root or subfolder campaign for e-commerce
Hi there, New to Moz and have just signed up to the pro package. I run a menswear website in the UK, and I want to start a campaign looking at 1 or 2 brands (Money Clothing and Cruyff Trainers). What I would like to know is, when starting a campaign for say Money Clothing, should I use my root domain www.designerboutique-online.com/ or should I use my Money Clothing domain (www.designerboutique-online.com/all-clothing/money-clothing/ ? Then once I do this, do I use my competitors subfolder pages or do I use their root domain? I tried to use 1 competitor as a subfolder and I think it gave an error saying I cannot use / after the domain? Any help on what would be the best approach for me to begin targeting my specific brands and how to compare them against my competitors. Cheers

Is There a Way to Create Branded Campaign Reports in seomoz.org Campaigns?
We have a few exciting clients we about to start working with and I'm looking for a full campaign management solution that allows for branded reporting. Because we are an agency, is there an option I'm missing that allows you to swap your logo with the seomoz.org logo?
