API and bitflag question
-
I've googled and read and still confused on this.
Regarding the link metric bit flags:
http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/link-metrics
I understand everything about how the API works and have it all working, except for this bit flag thing... And there's no example on this page of how to use the bit flags in an API request so it's hard to work it out.
My current API call is:
"http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/" & $db & "/" & $objectURL & "?
SourceCols=" & $SourceCols &
"&TargetCols=" & $TargetCols &
"&Scope=" & $Scope &
"&Sort=page_authority" &
"&Filter=" & $Filter &
"&AccessID=" & $accessID &
"&Expires=" & $expires &
"&Signature=" & $urlSafeSignature
There are 4 Link Metric Bit Flags: 2, 4, 8, and 16. How do I use those in the above URL
Do I use those in SourceCols? And there's about 15 Link Flag Definitions (ranging from 1 to 65536). So I use those in TargetCols?
I've tested different variations and I get different responses but the responses aren't documented either.
For example, if I get "luutrp":5.432777943351583,"luutrr":1.415861867916131e-14" in a response... what IS luutrp or luutrr.
These acronyms are not outlined anywhere that I can find.
This link:
http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/the-busy-developers-guide-to-seomoz-bit-flags
outlines an example but is using Cols (not SourceCols or TargetCols) so either this page is outdated or I'm missing something. Is there also a "Cols" parameter?
Basically, I just want: - given a single URL, show me all links (page to page) pointing to that URL, and give me the same information that's displayed in Open Site Explorer (page authority, anchor text, title, etc, etc) but also give me some additional information such as, "is it on the same C block?"
What's an example URL for the above request?
Really hoping someone can shed some light on this under-documented API.

Hey Adam! I switched it to answered because, as Joel mentioned in his message, you'll be able to get the best response by posting your question to our Dev Discussion forum. I'm so sorry if I marked it as answered prematurely, though! I've switched it to unanswered if you need anything else that we can help you out with through this Q&A forum.

Yes I think my email was playing up as I missed a few emails in recent days.
Why is this quesiton marked as answered?
How did that happen?

Hi Adam! This is Megan from the SEOmoz Help Team. It looks like Joel responded to your ticket on November 26th. Maybe it went to your spam folder? Here's what he wrote:
"Hey Adam,
Thanks for reaching out.
First off, I would encourage you to post your question to our Dev Discussion forum: http://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293196-developer-discussion-group. Our engineering community monitors that and you will probably get a response within 48 hours. We prefer to do any API support through our forum because that way other people in the community can benefit from the discussion. Making the support scalable allows us to keep offering the API as a free service. I hope you understand.
That being said, I would spend more time reading through the APIwiki. This page: http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/response-fields explains more about the different response fields you're going to see.
Looking forward to seeing your post in the Dev Discussion group!
Best,
Joel"I hope this helps!

Sorry about that Adam. I sent an email to a couple helpful Mozzers. I am sure one of them will respond very soon.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks but I'm actually posting here because it's been several days and no response from my ticket.
So not sure what to do

Hi Adam,
Hopefully you will receive a response. If not, I suggest you go to http://www.seomoz.org/help and submit a ticket.

Summarize your question. Is it possible to request another unscheduled crawl?
We have just sorted a couple of issues on the website which threw the crawl into spasm and gave us hundreds of hugely long URLs. We are pretty sure that we have corrected this and do not want to wait another week to check what SEOMOZ comes up with. Is there anyway that we can request a special crawl of the website so that we can hopefully just be left any legitimate remaining issues?

Another guest blogging question (sorry)
Hi, I have been kind of stuck with guest blogging lately. The amount of times I have seen PR1/2 root domains but SEOMOZ tool bar says DA:35/40 mR:4+ mT:4+ I know you are supposed to look at the content itself and other aspects but what do you trust more SEOMOZ tool bar or Googles PR? Cheers

Can I calculate "Keyword Difficulty" metric using Mozscape API data?
We already have a web application that pulls certain metrics about websites using the Mozscape API, but we are wanting to extend the usefulness of this application to enable users of the app to pull "Keyword Difficulty" metrics in bulk, instead of one at a time (or 5 at a time). I wouldn't mind the 5 at a time limitation if we could just automate the API calls and let the tool pull data for 50 or so keywords without user-interaction. I know that it's a "formula", but I don't know what SEOMoz uses for it's formula. Has anyone figured out a way to calculate this, based on the Mozscape API data? Has anyone ever tried to reverse engineer this metric?

Two Questions
1) The PA in the SEOmoz toolbar for ldnwicklesscandles.com/scentsy-uk/ is completely different to http://www.ldnwicklesscandles.com/scentsy-uk. I think in link building I've occasionally left the / off and vice versa. Is google seeing these as two different sites and how can I combine the two so the PA is no longer different? I initially tried a 301 redirect from the less PA to the higher one but it didn't work. Suggestions please. I'm trying to rank for the term Scentsy UK. Was told on here that it was unnecessary to get a .co.uk and that if I just link build for my scentsy-uk site which I have been doing. Woke up this morning and my page ldnwicklesscandles.com/scentsy-uk was no where to be seen on Google. I can still do site: and Link: for my main .com and I'm still ranking first page for other things so don't think I've been penalised at all. However when I try the site: and link: on the .com/scentsy-uk its no where to be found. There was no messages in Google webmaster tools either. Is this an algorithm thing or have I been penalised? Also....its now pulling up <cite>www.ldnwicklesscandles.com/blog/tag/scentsy-uk</cite> for the higher ranking results. Have I confused google with having this blog tag as well? Any suggestions to help would be appreciated. Losing a lot of sleep on this website at the moment. x

Do new Mozzers realise it takes effort to respond to their questions?
I see a lot of people asking questions and getting some pretty good responses, but the people who are responding, often do not get a thumbs up for their answer. If you are new and you are reading this, then you maybe do not understand that a thumbs up actually helps the person who gave their time to answer your question. There are several ways it helps, including giving feedback that the answer or the attempt to answer was actually useful, that you learned something or you appreciate the time it took to check your questions and give you feedback that you don't get in other forums, where you might be ignored for weeks or months. This is a collaborative forum and we are all here to learn something and to pass some of our knowledge to others who need it. Not every answer we give needs a thumbs up, but if you got something out of the answer, then, surely it is worth a second of your time to say "Thanks, that helped me" or "Yes, I agree with this"

SEOmoz crawl error questions
I just got my first seomoz crawl report and was shocked at all the errors it generated. I looked into it and saw 7200 crawl errors. Most of them are duplicate page titles and duplicate page content. I clicked into the report and found that 97% of the errors were going off of one page It has ttp://legendzelda.net/forums/index.php/members/page__sort_key__joined__sort_order__asc__max_results__20 http://legendzelda.net/forums/index.php/members/page__sort_key__joined__sort_order__asc__max_results__20__quickjump__A__name_box__begins__name__A__quickjump__E etc Has 20 pages of slight variations of this link. It is all my members list or a search of my members list so it is not really duplicate content or anything. How can I get these errors to go away and make search my site is not taking a hit? The forum software I use is IPB.

Open Site Explorer Question- Link Value?
One of my backlinks is from a site that has a page authority of 74. However, the domain is a domain I purchased and 302'd to my current main domain. What I'm wondering (without getting into why a 301 is better than a 302) is this: does OSE have any tool that shows if there is actually value in a link? My assumption is that despite this domain having a PA of 74, the 302 is not passing over any value. To be clear, I understand that a 302 doesn't pass over any SEO value, but my question is whether or not OSE shows the value of a link? Thanks!
