Redirect from WP Plugin
-
Any way of preventing a re-direct caused by a wordpress plugin?
-
I know
Hi checked out your plug-in it does not look like the best solution for total security and all honesty you can't get that from a simple plug-in you need to have a hardend server you might want to look into
Every one of them of is a far better job protecting your information the one plug and can and I'll have a server-side secure built in
My 2 cents

What is the specific redirect you're looking at, Brett? In some cases, redirects are essential to the way certain functionality works. This can be especially true of security plugins. In which case a judgement call has to be made whether the security feature is more important than the tiny increase in site speed from removing it.

thanks Chris. the plugin is wordfence

If you go to the Plugins category from within the Wordpress Dashboard then you should be able to click 'edit' on the offending plugin in order to remove the code manually that is causing the redirect. Without knowing exactly which Plugin is causing you grief I can’t give specifics but the redirect code should be fairly obvious.
Just bear in mind that whenever you update the Plugin the redirect code will reappear and will have to be manually edited out again.

thanks. tried this but the plugins in question do not have any options concerning redirect and they are required on my site.

Yes go into your dashboard when logged into WordPress. Find plug-ins look for the plug-in that is doing the redirect itself and disable it. Or if it has options which I'm sure it does find the offending redirect and remove that.
I hope that would've helped you

My site auto redirects http to https. This is causing redirect chains. What can I do?
I noticed that Moz flags a lot of redirect chain issues on my site. I realized that this is mostly because the site automatically redirects http to https, and when I create a new URL (when a URL changes, for example) it is automatically flagged as a chain. Example: http://www.example-link Auto directs to: https://www.example-link Which is then redirected to: https://www.example-link-changed (when the address actually changes) I don't seem to have any control over changing where the initial http redirect goes. Any advice on fixing this problem?

My home page URL http://seadwellers.com/ redirects to http://www.seadwellers.com/. Is this a problem?
"The URL http://seadwellers.com/ redirects to http://www.seadwellers.com/. Do you want to crawl http://www.seadwellers.com/ instead?" I was given this when I tried to crawl my home page using MOZ software. I was not aware of this, do not know if it could be a problem concerning any aspect of SEO, etc? :

New jobboard: Can redirecting folder (site.com/jobboard) to subdomain (jobboard.site.com) hurt SEO?
Hi there, I'm planning to implement a jobboard on my website which needs to be installed on a subdomain (jobboard.site.com) but I'd really like to use site.com/jobboard for promoting this jobboard (jobboard collects external industry jobs). Are there any possible disadvantages when I set up a 301 redirect from jobboard.site.com to site.com/jobboard? Also: What if I want to move this jobboard to a unique domain one day (e.g. jobboard-industry-xy.com), Would that be tricky (as I'd basically have to redirect the folder-to-subdomain redirect to an external domain and therefore get a folder-to-subdomain-to-external-domain redirect...)? Cheers, Thomas

302 Temporary Redirects
Hi, We currently have a number of 302 redirects set up on our e-commerce store that redirect from no forward slash at the end to a forward slash at the end of the url (see below). example: domain.com/treadmills

Redirects to
domain.com/treadmills/ Am I correct in saying that this will not pass link juice and the redirects should be changed to 301's (or just removed?). Or are the two urls treated the same (with or without forward slash)? Thanks in advance! Regards,

Google found bad links delete them or 301 redirect?
we went into our google account and saw about 70 bad links that they found on our site. what's the best thing to do, seo-wise: should we go into the pages that have the bad links and delete them from the html code, or re-direct them in our htaccess script?

Comment Plugin
We are set to relaunch our site on wordpress and will be creating a traditional blog section in the process. With doing so, we want to allow commenting on our blog; however, we are trying to find the best to accomplish our main goals of 1) increasing SEO and 2) creating a conversation hub that will refresh on page content I have looked toward the Facebook comment plugin; however, it doesnt add to the pages code (essentially seems that all comment posts are hidden in javascript). This does little to accomplish our goal of refreshing page content, but it does allow users an easy and seamless way to add to the conversation is a useful tool to get a mention on social channels. The thing we do like about more traditional plugins is 1) the ability to post the comment to the html so we can increase the refresh rate of page content and 2) ability to block IPs since we will likely allow comments to be open instead of requiring approval first (we want ppl to add to the conversation in real time to motivate more back and forth) so, with all that said, just looking to get opinions on the best comment plugins available to achieve our main goals of increasing our content SEO and refreshing page content by allowing seamless, user friendly commenting features.
