How to remove a thin site penalty

Wondering if anyone could help out. A while back I made an affiliate store using wordpress and merchants products feeds. I didn't get found to adding any unique content to the site and, as was to be expected, I gained a penalty and my search traffic died.
A few months back I redesigned the store, still using merchant csv but now with 98% unique content on each page. However, try as I may I still cannot get anywhere in the engines. The domain doesn't even rank for it's own name!! I have submitted reconsideration request but they have replied saying no penalty on the site.
The domain is www.digitalcatwalk.co.uk. While the domain isn't massively strong I would prefer not to have to start again as I feel it is a very good domain name.
Any advise would be most gratefully received.

Thanks for your help gents'. All the content on the site was meant to be 100% unique (I got someone in my company to create with the help of external suppliers). I checked samples and they seemed fine but it appears that all isn't what it first appeared.
I'll get the content replaced and get back to it.

Yes unoriginal content will get you penalised very quick. Even if it's your content, if another site steals it and they have more authority google will most likely penalise you for it. Great to be given the benefit of the doubt isn't it? So clear that up but contacting other webmasters to have them remove it, or simply rewrite your content. After you are happy, resubmit your sitemap and update it if necessary before you do.

I am copying sentences from your site and putting them into Google and it looks like other websites have that sentence. So from my viewpoint, there looks to be some "unoriginal" content.
I don't really know how Google handles affiliate site. I know that they got blasted a few years ago for spamming. Your site is clearly an affiliate website.

You are copying this. If you have this too much thoughout your site, why should you rank? I just looked at one page, I'm sure Google can find many more with their crawlers.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I originally started to rebuild using Magento but swapped to Wordpress as it as quicker and easier. I see your thinking behind removing spam links but I'm convinced that the penalty is more for thin/duplicate content than a dodgy link profile. All the product feeds are identical to merchants as it's an affiliate store and previously these were the only content on the site. There is now lots of unique content on there with these feeds but I think I am still being treated as if it were duplicate

If the Google Police are saying there is no penalty on the site, then it's not a manual penalty. To me it sounds like an algorithmic penalty. Go through your links in GWT and try to remove the spam links. I love SEOmoz's OSE to see links, but look at GWT instead because their index is bigger and that's what Google sees.
You need to remove the links that are penalizing your site. Read Ryan Kent's post on link penalty removals: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012

Site Not Being Indexed
Hey Everyone - I have a site that is being treated strangely by google (at least strange to me) The site has 24 pages in the sitemap - submitted to WMT'S over 30 days ago I've manually triggered google to crawl the homepage and all connecting links as well and submitted a couple individually. Google has been parked the indexing at 14 of the 24 pages. None of the unindexed URL's have Noindex or follow tags on them - they are clearly and easily linked to from other places on the site. The site is a brand new domain, has no manual penalty history and in my research has no reason to be considered spammy. 100% unique handwritten content I cannot figure out why google isn't indexing these pages. Has anyone encountered this before? Know any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Site hit by algorthithmic update in October 2014 - filters and thin content queries.
Back in October 2014 last year, a site we are working with had a significant drop in organic traffic. This coincided with Google's algorithmic update. The side in question uses filters extensively and at the time did not have any canonical tags in place. The lions share of these filter pages had little or no written content just products. The website now has canonical tags throughout and content has started to be added to the top level categories and we will continue to add more, however there is still a large amount of pages with little or no content. Webmaster tools shows that there are large amounts of internal links (for instance 42,000+ to the homepage) which must be due to the filtered pages. I am looking for advice on what is the best way to proceed. Do I edit robots.txt, start adding no follow tags or something else entirely?

Awful ranking after site redesign
Hello everyone, I have a situation here and I’d like to have your opinion about it. I am working on a site which has been recently redesigned from scratch: in a nutshell, as soon as the new site went live their rankings dropped and, of course, so did their visitors and so on.. The guys who redesigned the site didn’t do any 301 redirect whatsoever, so now the old pages are just 404s and blocked by robots. My question is: if they 301 redirect now, do you think it would be possible they could get their rankings back? One more thing: when they launched the new site, the indexed pages basically doubled overnight; there were 700 and now there are 1400. Do you think this could affect their ranking as well? Rankings after manual penalty removal
I've just started working on a ecommerce website that was hit by Penguin 2.0 in May (It was ranking 2nd for it's major keyword at the time) and it hasn't been indexing for that keyword since After a lot of link removal, the reconsideration request was accepted and the manual penalty had been removed. Rankings haven't really improved and that specific keyword has not been reindexed The site does have a lot of not found errors (It was 5.5k but recently taken down to 4k) but it was still ranking before the penalty. Is there anything you believe I'm missing? Is it the onsite errors that are flagging the site as unreliable? I thought it would still appear for the keyword if that was the case

Site Launching, not SEO Ready
Hi, So, we have a site going up on Monday, that in many ways hasn't been gotten ready for search. The focus has been on functionality and UX rather than search, which is fair enough. As a result, I have a big list of things for the developer to complete after launch (like sorting out duplicate pages and adding titles that aren't "undefined" etc.). So, my question is whether it would be better to noindex the site until all the main things are sorted before essentially presenting search engines with the best version we can, or to have the site be indexed (duplicate pages and all) and sort these issues "live", as it were? Would either method be advisable over the other, or are there any other solutions? I just want to ensure we start ranking as well as possible as quickly as possible and don't know which way to go. Site Indexed but not Cached?
I launched a new website ~2 weeks ago that seems to be indexed but not cached. According to Google Webmaster most of the pages are indexed and I see them appear when I search site:www.xxx.com. However, when I type into the URL - cache:www.xxx.com I get a 404 error page from Google.

Too many links on my site
Hi there everybody, I am a total SEO newbie and i am burning with questions. I had my site crawled and found out that it contains too many links. The reason is that it is a site where I constantly write news and articles and each one of them is a new Joomla item, thus a new link. I actually thought lots of content is good for SEO. How am I supposed to reduce the link amount?
